Chapter 517 517: Beast World
Chapter 517 517: Beast World
The group wasn't in any rush to get to the central zone. So they took their time getting there, taking in the sights, and everything.
Despite having been told about the average scale of things in the beast world, which was extremely big, they were still shocked by the trees.
What was even more interesting was how they actually couldn't reach the top of the trees beyond the clouds no matter how much they tried flying up.
It was clear to see that there was a space barrier in the way.
Something so strong that even Raya a R7 space elementalist couldn't sense it.
It was a truly humbling experience when they were all still feeling themselves despite the warnings from Mrs C. After all, they felt like the world was within their grasp with their current power.
It was an unavoidable time period after every breakthrough. And they knew how to control it, so it wasn't a serious problem.
Anyway, they didn't waste too much time despite their cruising speed.
After all, their perception of the world was countless times more advanced than that of normal people.
Unlike when Muku was weak, he didn't see a thick layer of mana blocking their way.
Not that it wasn't there, but it was so insignificant to his advanced senses that it was invisible.
They could sense it and see it if they wanted to, but they chose to focus on Divine mana instead. That was more important to them anyway.
Even if it wasn't as plentiful as mana and advanced mana, it was still plentiful enough...
They soon reached the central region.
And it wasn't like they expected at all. They explained to find many R7s and so I'm loitering around like they were used to.
However, all that was there was a huge circular portal that went up into the clouds.
All the mana, advanced mana, and divine mana came out of it.
"Well, I guess she was right again. We definitely didn't expect this..." Freya spoke with wonder in her eyes.
"Tsk. That old lady is always right, so I'm not surprised about that at least" Muku replied.
"Don't address her like that, please. It sounds so disrespectful" Audrey chided.
She really looked up to her mother-in-law even if the lady seemed a bit unreliable at times.
"Fine. But she made me do it with her behaviour though" Muku accepted the reproach but defended himself.
"Can we go now? I can wait to see what's on the other side" Jade impatiently spoke.
"Can't you sense that those statues aren't normal? And you're supposed to have the best senses of us all?" Layla spoke calmly.
Sometimes it really seemed like she was always looking for a reason to fight with Jade.
"Please don't start" Audrey shut it down before anything could begin.
Because of this, Jade and Layla just glared at each other and then looked away.
"Now, how are we going to proceed? There are two statues. Should we send two people or four just to be safe?" Muku asked for the others' input.
"I suggest four just to be safe" Audrey gave her opinion.
"Why don't we all go together? Isn't that the safest way?" Chloe suggested.
"Hmm. That doesn't sound bad actually. I mean, we're not trying to get KP here, so that's actually the best plan. I'll take Audrey, Elsa, Lisa, and Chloe. The others will go to the other one. But if they do not activate when we get closer, let's just ignore them. It's best to avoid trouble if possible. We aren't here to make headlines after all" Muku agreed with Chloe and made the teams.
"Understood" the girls agreed and they moved out.
Even Layla and Jade put their squabble aside for the time being. They knew when to be unserious and when to be serious.
They cautiously advanced towards the gate.
The statues in question were identical armoured knights that looked to be around 10 thousand metres tall. Yeah, everything was simply huge in the beast world.
Oddly enough, they looked like human knights instead of beasts.
This raised questions in everyone's minds but it wasn't the time for such things. Besides, who would answer them anyway?
Iris had been too silent since the incident with Mrs C. Almost like she was too scared to say anything now in fear of being misunderstood.
Anyway, no one bothered with her since they were too busy with other things. Maybe later on.
Well, Freya of course tried talking to her, but after being ignored once, she backed off.
She cared for Iris, but she also wasn't free enough to try to coax her or something.
The old her might have done that. But the current one, a combination of the group's influence, personal experiences, and Iris' own grooming wasn't like that.
She was still a good girl, but just like Emily, she just wasn't that completely pure girl who saw the world in bubble colours and always put others before herself.
If it was necessary, she would. But it wasn't at that point in time.
Anyway, they soon reached the foot of the giants. And it was like they were looking at Mount Everest, in terms of height. And Ryan mountain wasn't even this tall.
"They aren't moving. So I guess we can just go through" Muku spoke and they quickly passed by the huge statues.
"Well, that was disappointing. I can't believe I let you get my hopes up like that" Jade spoke when they got back together.
"...." Muku didn't say anything as he felt like something was wrong.
He was so focused he didn't even hear what she said. Well, his mind completely ignored it.
"Hey, I'm speaking to..." Jade snapped.
However, before she could finish as they were about to go through the portal, the eyes of the two giants lit up.
And everyone including them disappeared in the next moment...
.....
In some weird dark space...
The group appeared in what looked like a mini dimension with nothing but empty space.
So they were just floating there.
Opposite them were the huge statues.
"This is why you do not comment until the situation has been completely dealt with" Layla suddenly spoke.
Seemingly to no one in particular. But it was obvious she was aiming at Jade.
It seemed she was really on Jade's case that day.
Everyone noticed this and gave her a weird look.
"What?" She asked confusedly.
"Purification!" Emily suddenly shouted and everyone was bathed in golden flames.
It was so sudden that they were all caught off guard.
Before they could ask what the heck was going on. They heard a shriek of pain in Layla's direction.
It sounded inhuman, and Layla's mouth was closed so it definitely wasn't her.
Just then, a small bug appeared from the back of her neck and flew away.
At least it tried to. But the flames got even more intense the moment Emily spotted it and it was burned to ash.
"Interesting brat. You actually sensed that?" A feminine voice was heard just before the bug was burnt into ashes.
It did sound angry or even bothered, as you'd expect.
Instead, it just sounded amused. Which was definitely odd.
But they didn't care too much about that. Everyone looked at Layla with worry in their eyes.
She was currently grasping her head with a pained look on her face.
"Are you okay?" Emily asked worriedly.
Her asking seemed correct as the only one who seemed to know what the heck was going on.
"Yeah. Thanks..." Layla spoke.
"What was that though?" Emily asked.
Hearing this everyone was surprised. Didn't she know what it was? Wasn't it the reason why she attacked?
"I have no idea. I suddenly felt a tiny prick at the back of my neck that time Jade called over the gorilla beast. From then on, I couldn't control my body or any part of me to show that something was wrong" Layla replied.
Everyone instinctively looked at Jade.
"What? Are you suggesting that I had something to do with this?" Jade snapped.
"No. We just feel that it's your fault that we didn't notice. As for what that was, it was likely a Monarch's familiar or something like that. Your shenanigans just allowed it to latch onto Layla unnoticed because we were all distracted" Muku spoke while the others nodded in agreement.
"What? How would I have known such a thing would happen? Fine. It's my fault. Can we put it aside for now? Those guys look like they won't watch for longer" Jade replied then directed everyone's attention to the two statues that were slowly coming their way.
"Fine. But you have to make it up to Layla when the time comes" Muku spoke while they all turned their attention back to the statues.
"Whatever" Jade replied to end the conversation.
"I don't think our current size is good for this fight. I mean, it doesn't affect the fight at all. But still, I feel insignificant right now. And that sucks" Lisa spoke while looking up to see the statues' faces.
"Hmm. I guess it's time our new Avatar forms see battle..." Muku agreed and summoned his avatar...
