Chapter 853 849: Accident or Conspiracy? (1)
The only time Charles could spend alone with Camila Ruiz was early in the morning.
In the evenings, even though they could meet, Jimmy Horne would usually bring Camila home very late, and nobody knew where Jimmy would take Camila to play. Every night when Camila returned, she would feel very tired, and often, as soon as she returned, she would greet him and then go to her room to shower and sleep.
Charles couldn't bear to disturb her sleep, even though he was overwhelmed with jealousy, he still cherished her.
Camila's holiday had ended, and that morning, she was woken by her alarm like usual. She stayed in bed, continuing to nap, while Charles took over Rachel's duties and prepared breakfast for her.
"Young Master Charles, let me do it." A nanny hovered around Charles, trying to take over the breakfast preparation.
Charles stopped what he was doing, turned his head, and said coldly to the nanny, "Aunt Lin, go and take care of something else. If you really have nothing to do, help clean Camila's car. I've been driving it to work these past few days, and it's gathered quite a bit of dust." He rarely had the chance to showcase his culinary skills and make breakfast for Camila, such a happy thing he didn't want the nanny to do.
During the week of Camila's vacation, he got up every morning to make breakfast, but Camila never got to eat it. It wasn't that she didn't like it, but that bossy Jimmy Horne would always show up right when breakfast was ready, taking Camila away, leaving all his efforts of the past week wasted.
Aunt Lin had no choice but to leave the kitchen, thinking how strange wealthy people could be, preferring to pay her just to hang around without letting her cook.
Because Charles's car had caught fire on its own, he hadn't bought a new one yet. Hansen Ruiz was very angry when he found out about it and wanted to investigate thoroughly. Everyone actually guessed that it was Joseph Colson who had tampered with it, so it wouldn't be hard to find out. Charles persuaded him to let the police investigate, thinking that an official announcement would be more impactful than a private investigation. He could be ruthless, but he had endured for eight years, and now he would be ruthless too.
He wouldn't use the same method to deal with his brother; he just wanted to ruin his brother's reputation.
Hansen and Rachel both offered to help him buy a new car, which he refused, saying he was earning a salary now and didn't need the Ruiz Family to pay for him anymore.
These days, he's been driving Camila's car, the Crown that Ivan gave her, to work.
Charles prepared two servings of a Western-style breakfast in half an hour.
These days, if you want to court a wife, you have to know how to cook.
Unfastening his apron, Charles carried the two servings of Western-style breakfast out of the kitchen, placed them on the dining table, and then went upstairs to wake Camila.
Camila was still lounging in bed, habitually hugging her pillow, sleeping soundly. If he wasn't afraid she'd be late, Charles really wouldn't want to wake her.
"Lazy bones, sleepy pig, time to get up." Charles stood by the bed, laughingly looking down at her, calling out.
"Mmm."
Camila didn't even move an eyelid, just murmured, turned over, and continued to sleep.
Charles looked at her with a laugh; this girl was good in every way except that she loved to sleep in.
If no one woke her, she'd sleep and sleep, only getting up when the sun was overhead.
"Camila, I've made your favorite breakfast, get up. If you don't get up soon, you'll be late." Charles sat on the edge of the bed, like a worried mother, tugging at her pillow, lovingly coaxing her.
"Charles, I'm so tired. Let me sleep for ten more minutes, okay?" Camila turned over, opened her eyes slightly, and looked at Charles pleadingly. As soon as the words left her mouth, she closed her eyes, appearing ready to sleep again.
"Not even one minute more, get up immediately."
Charles's face turned serious. He snatched her pillow, calling out softly.
"Charles..." Resigned, Camila sat up, gracefully yawning, and complained, "You're more nagging than my mom. I'm really tired, I only went to sleep at dawn last night."
"Who told you to go crazy and forget the time? Even if you're in love, you shouldn't come back so late. Doesn't Jimmy Horne know you have to work today? He still kept you out so late; he has no consideration for you. I don't know what you see in him; he's the kind of man you foolishly waited eight years for."
Charles said irritably.
When it came to Jimmy Horne, his rival in love, he couldn't help but feel angry.
The infuriating thing was, he still didn't know Jimmy Horne's true identity. He only knew Jimmy's real name was Josh Reyes, that his mother was unmarried and pregnant, later finding his biological father and changing back to his father's surname. But in Syrena, everyone still called him Jimmy Horne. He's the grandson of the Horne Family, the new CEO of the Black Emperor Group, but Charles suspected Jimmy's identity was far more complicated than that.
He had investigated privately, but could only find out these well-known facts, while everything else was a blank.
Jimmy Horne was not simple, not simple at all; he had a strong intuition about this.
Having such a formidable rival in love was the most headache-inducing thing.
"Charles, don't you like Billy?" Camila suddenly leaned her pretty face closer to Charles, her bright eyes filled with doubt as they locked onto his.
Charles had always treated her with great care, like a biological brother, always respecting her decisions and accepting her friends. Why did he react so strongly when it came to Billy?
"I don't like him!" Charles said bluntly.
Who would like their rival in love?
"I don't like that he made you wait eight years!" Charles added, his voice thick with bitterness. He longed to tell Camila that he didn't like Billy because he loved her. But when he saw her bright eyes looking at him without a ripple, he knew in her heart, he would always be just a brother.
With no hope for his love, he couldn't confess, fearing it would disrupt their current relationship.
Even if he couldn't have her, at least he could still live under the same roof with her, watch over her, protect her, and be a brother she could rely on when she felt wronged.
The doubt in Camila's eyes disappeared. She smiled and hugged Charles for a moment before quickly releasing him, saying, "I knew Charles cares the most for me."
Charles cast her a sidelong glance. Being hugged by her didn't make him happy. She hugged him, she hugged Ivan; all those hugs were pure sibling hugs, unlike how she hugged Jimmy Horne with a love so intense it couldn't be dissolved. "As long as you know," he said, walking past her to her wardrobe, taking out her clothes, tossing them to her, and saying, "Hurry up, I'll wait for you downstairs. After breakfast, I'll take you to work. Or, you can drive yourself if you prefer."
