Chapter 831 828: Time Flies (2)
"I thought you'd like Sister Florence more, because Sister Florence is prettier than me, and you also said that I'm not particularly attractive." A muffled voice emerged from Jimmy Horne's embrace after a moment.
People always love beauty, Florence Ford is so beautiful that even she, as a woman, sometimes feels astonished by Florence's beauty, let alone men. She came here only one day earlier than Florence, yet those ten Demons treated Florence much more kindly than they treated her; she thought it was because Florence was stunningly beautiful.
Jimmy Horne's attitude toward Florence Ford was lukewarm; sometimes she saw disgust in his eyes, other times saw nothing at all, leaving her uncertain. When Florence acted like a considerate wife to Jimmy, she could only tactfully step aside, not wanting to act as the third wheel.
He didn't know that her heart felt heavy too, like a thorn had embedded in it.
A low, indulgent laugh filled the air.
Jimmy Horne tugged lightly at her hair, causing her to cry out softly in pain and glare at him irritably.
"Fool, who says men must like beautiful women? Didn't you understand your parents' profound love yet? To a man, the woman he loves is the most beautiful in the world, unique; others, no matter how celestial, appear ordinary in his eyes. If I said you're not particularly pretty, it was just to tease you; I didn't expect you'd take it to heart like this."
"My mom has inner beauty, my dad loves her, loves that inner beauty." Camila Ruiz muttered, her feelings of heaviness dispelled by his words, the thorn removed.
"Do you think I'm not like your dad, only caring for surface beauty?" Jimmy Horne added, squinting dangerously at her.
Camila Ruiz pouted, "I didn't say that."
Jimmy Horne stared at her for a while, his gaze softening again.
"Now you know my feelings, don't leave me to others like this in the future."
"And give us time to grow, don't just leave here and forget about me; promise you'll wait for me." Jimmy Horne worried most about her leaving after returning home, fearing she would meet more excellent men who might steal her heart. Though she hadn't rejected his affections while he poured his heart out, she hadn't promised him anything either.
It would take another three years for him to leave the base, and even after that, he wouldn't be able to return to her side immediately. As the heir to the blazing gate, the responsibilities on him are heavy; even with his skills, he needs to accumulate life experience. By the time he can truly return to her, years might have passed.
Camila Ruiz blushed, giving him a sidelong glance; she answered him, "I'll only marry a man like my godfather—heroic and loving."
Jimmy Horne laughed, understanding her guidance.
To marry her, he had to become such a man—hard as iron yet gentle like spring waters with the woman he loves, something he knew from his uncle's love for his aunt.
He was determined to achieve it!
He wanted her to be even happier than his aunt!
"Let's go inside." Jimmy Horne changed the subject, grabbing her hand and leading her away from under the tree.
Camila Ruiz let herself be led.
As they were nearing the house, she suddenly pulled her hand from his.
Jimmy Horne arched his eyebrows immediately.
"Sister Florence really likes you; I don't want to flaunt your affection for me and hurt her."
Jimmy Horne pursed his lips, acknowledging her kindness.
He knew Florence Ford's feelings for him long ago. Camila couldn't understand Florence fully; perhaps seeing his affection for Camila would make Florence sad and envious, but she wouldn't harm Camila because Florence is a strong girl and deeply loyal to him; slowly, she'd choose to retreat and protect him, never harming Camila.
The most respected trait among the Demon members is loyalty.
"She'll have to face it sooner or later; short pain is better than prolonged pain." Jimmy Horne said maturely, pulling her hand decisively, leading her into the house.
The house was quiet, everyone resting after lunch.
It's the safest time of day here—lunchtime resting.
Once inside, Jimmy Horne led Camila to sit at the table; Camila recalled her hunger.
Jimmy Horne went into the kitchen for a few minutes, returning with dishes, placing a bowl with two large chicken legs in front of Camila lovingly, instructing, "Eat quickly; you've only had a few bites, you're surely hungry now. No matter what happens, don't let yourself starve. Your body is yours; you must take care of it."
Camila Ruiz's eyes brightened at the sight of the chicken legs; the chicken was bought yesterday by Iceberg No. 6 after his holiday, being ready-made, they stored it in the fridge and started eating it today. Here, chicken meat was quite precious to them.
"Look, your drool's almost in the bowl, eat up before it gets cold." Jimmy Horne teased indulgently.
The chicken legs Florence Ford put aside for him, he spared them for Camila.
"Let's each have one." Camila Ruiz quickly ran into the kitchen to wash her hands, returning to pick up a chicken leg and hand it to Jimmy, munching on hers happily.
Seeing her enjoyment, Jimmy Horne smiled gently, his smile full of satisfaction.
He slowly started eating too.
"If you can eat them both, go ahead."
"Hehe, Sister Florence's considerate of you, you should taste her kindness." Camila teased, batting her eyes, watching Jimmy's handsome face darken, giggling, "Pretend I didn't say anything, eat now, or it'll get cold."
The two ate their chicken legs with laughter, the atmosphere gradually warming.
At the corner of the stairs on the second floor, Florence Ford allowed her tears to fall freely.
In the end, she was defeated by precedence.
The chicken leg she saved for the young master, he gave to Camila.
She should have understood long ago!
Biting her lip, Florence refused to cry aloud.
Turning silently, she raised her hand to wipe away the tears cascading down.
Stand strong!
