Chapter 73: Nemesis (1) Part II
Chapter 73: Nemesis (1) Part II
“What? Or does this trick to get Vincent to come out have something else going on, too?” His guess was right to the point. The pair of pretty eyes looked down, being anxious by Thada’s plan. That was how Toei knew right away that his friend had some shady plan apart from enticing the player out with the prizes. He knew his friend well. Thada might look kind, but the guy could be a stubborn bully, too!
“Well!” The young DJ cut it off. “I don’t really care what he’s been up to, just make sure the board members don’t know about this, or our team will get reprimanded. And what should I call this plan? Entice the tiger to leave its lair?”
Rattana let out a quick laugh.
“Yes, something like that. Entice the tiger,” she said with a dry smile while her eyes were still looking anxious. So, the older one just patted the serious girl on the shoulder softly.
“Then, I have to leave first, still have plenty to discuss with the team. I’ll see you outside the game later.”
“See you.”
The woman watched as the DJ walked out before she let out a long sigh. Then she looked back to the stage, making a tense face when she saw Thada enjoyingly interact with the audience.
“Well, I just overheard it. What was that? Entice the tiger out of its lair?”
Suddenly, there was a powerful, hoarse voice coming from behind her back, making her pause.
“I think what the DJ said was a bit wrong, don’t you think, Anne? Vincent’s not a tiger, he’s a cat. Cat burglar.”
The man continued talking in an obviously insulting tone. Rattana chuckled before she slowly turned to catch the eyes of the new visitor.
When her eyes could see him fully. The most outstanding thing about him was his huge, tall figure that she had to raise her head up to catch his eyes. As estimated by her eyes, his height could be at least 190 centimeters.
He had dark skin and long hair kept in dreadlocks. Even though he had it tied up in a ponytail to look neater, it still looked messy in the GM’s eyes anyway. His eyes looked so sharp and stiff that everyone who saw them would feel it, and his wide grin looked threatening.
She knew him just by a glance. The man was... Marcus.
One of the four gods in Pride world!
“What are you implying, Mister Marcus?”
The GM put on a polite smile, making it obvious that it was just a mask. Her voice sounded cold, making the other one pause.
“I’ve told you many times to not call me like that. Could you just call me Mark?”
“And I’ll appreciate it a lot if you call me Rattana, Mister Marcus.” The GM replied coldly. However, he did not mind her action. Instead, he just smiled like he already knew how she would react.
Marcus, the huge guy who was one of the four gods. Even though he looked aggressive, he was dressed in an expensive black suit. A skull print bandana was wrapped around his red hair. There was a mark of something on his forehead. His hands were holding a golden award and a big rose bouquet.
Now that the woman started to guess his intentions, her face creased.
“We’ve prepared a special lobby for the winners of the year for you. But this room is reserved for the staff only, and you’re not one of them.”
Rattana said politely, but Marcus did not care. He still kept walking closer to her, making her raise her eyebrows.”
“Don’t be so cold, Anne.”
“I’ll repeat, please leave.”
“No!” Marcus cried out. “Even if this place was a dangerous place with deadly monsters, I’d still stay, as long as you’re here, too.” He said as he was handing out the red roses to her. “The roses are for the special one. And the red color is the best choice to represent my love for you.”
The GM was speechless. She was just standing there like a statue. Even an emotionless person like her did not know how to handle the beast Marcus being cheesy like this. But because of her job, she had to be polite by taking the bouquet anyway, even though she wished to slam it to the ground and crush it with her foot right in front of the giver.
Well, she was going to throw the flowers in the trash can later anyway!
“Thank you,” Rattana replied softly.
“My pleasure. It’s nothing if it can make you leave some little space in your heart for me.”
EW!!
She really wanted to throw up, but she was good at keeping a straight face, before forcing a wry smile at him in time.
He should have saved the money from buying her flowers to cure his cheesy disease!!
“Earlier I heard you and the DJ talked about that Vincent guy.” The unexpected sentence drew her eyes at him.
“Yes, and what about it?”
“Nothing. It’s just that I heard something interesting,” Marcus said before he grinned widely. “So, you really needed to set up a plan just to get the jerk to attend the event?”
“Yes, that’s true.”
Marcus chuckled in his throat in reply.
“Who does he think he is?” He shook his head. “It means that if he wasn’t begged, he would never show up to claim his prize? Is he too narcissistic, or is he trying to create the image of himself joining the boss hunting event just to pass the time? What a cocky.”
“I think that he has the right to decide whether he wants the prize or not. Why do you think it’s his intention to be like that?”
“Because he is!” The man yelled angrily. “He’s insulting the MVP player like me. He broke my highest record of all time but then chooses to hide himself and acts like he doesn’t care about this honorable prize. That’s why he pisses me off!”
‘Isn’t it just that he’s mad because he wants to pick a fight with the man, but can’t find him anywhere?’ Rattana thought to herself.
“Maybe he’s not doing anything like you said.”
“Yes, I’m sure he definitely is!” Marcus said with a displeased face. “Geez, how dare he, ignoring the bloody iron beast Marcas like this. This is unacceptable, Vincent!”
The intimidating he was having made the woman rub on her temple tiredly. Was every man like this, eager to pick a fight with others for no reason. Or was it just this gorilla?
“But the good thing is...!” Suddenly, Marcus shouted, knocking her out of her thoughts.
“Yes?”
“Today is the day Vincent finally shows up. And this time, I’ll clear things up with him like I’ve wanted. He and I really have a lot to discuss,” he said with a chuckle.
“I suggest you don’t get your hopes up too high. Maybe he won’t come here tonight.”
“Yes, he will.” Marcus chuckled. "He’ll definitely show up tonight. I feel it with my instinct.”
He tilted his head to the side a little, before giving her a sweet smile, making her feel quite awkward by it.
“I have to go now, Miss Anne.”
“Nice!” She did not even try to hide her happy smile.
“My guys are probably waiting for too long now. Also, I need to find the best seat to see Vincent clearly.” After that he turned, walking away. The woman sighed in relief. But after a few steps he took, Marcus turned to look at her again with a serious face.
“I forget to tell you, Miss Anne...”
