Chapter 574: The Desert Warriors Part IV
Chapter 574: The Desert Warriors Part IV
“What is it, Shin?” Waree said.
“Someone touched my butt.”
He talked so monotonously that the girls laughed. Wisana walked up to them.
“Hey, are you guys alright?” He smiled. Maysa quickly ran to him and grabbed his arm.
“What’s happening? Who are these people?” She whispered.
“Don’t worry. They’re not our enemy. They’re an independent army. They’re called...”
“Desert Warrior.”
A gentle voice sounded, prompting Maysa to turn to the source. He was a big and tall man with slicked-back hair. Judging from his face, he should be around twenty-eight years old. He wore a desert robe that covered every part except his face.
Once he got closer, Maysa knew right away who he was.
“You still remember him, May?” Wisana smiled. “We met at the meeting before the war.”
“Mr. Viper!”
Maysa shouted his name.
Viper was one of the top ten warriors in this war and he was Valentine’s close friend, whom she had met a couple of times in the meeting and once in the actual war. At that time, this man even helped her from that crazy William. Why would she not remember?!
“Well, it’s a pleasure that a beautiful one like you still remembers me.”
He reached out his hand.
“As a planner, how could I even forget a dangerous man like you?” Maysa smiled and shook his hand. “Are these people your men?”
Maysa glanced back. Viper smiled.
“Yes.”
“Without you, we would have been in a far worse situation. Thank you so much, Mr. Viper.”
“You’re welcome. It was nothing.” Viper smiled and looked at him. “And this crazy man is here, too, so it’s only normal for me to help, right, Shin?”
“....”
The man turned the other way as if he did not want to talk to him.
“You know Shin?” Waree asked.
“I’m his sister’s best friend. If I let him die, Valentine would kill me.”
Maysa raised her eyebrow.
“Then, you’re here because of Valentine’s order?” She asked.
Viper shook his head. “This is not about her. Don’t forget that we’re an independent army.”
“...I see.” Maysa smiled awkwardly. “Ah, and what about that woman? The one who wears a robe and helped us. Where is she?”
Wisana frowned tightly and looked at Viper as if he also wanted the answer. He had been trying to look for her, but he found nothing.
“She’s gone.” Viper smiled back.
“Gone?” Maysa said. “Is she not one of your people?”
“She’s not.” Viper waved. “She’s actually the leader. Her name’s Baron. I can only say that because she never reveals anything more.”
“I see...”
Maysa regretted it a little since she wanted to thank that Baron lady very much. Wisana was still suspicious, yet he had to keep it to himself for now.
“Why did you help us?”
Shin suddenly asked. The tone was so harsh that even Waree was startled.
It did not surprise Viper. He turned to Shin and smiled.
“So, you’ve decided to permanently stay with the Nemesis?” He said. “I feel sorry for Valentine. She wants you to inherit the four gods’ name.”
“I think you’re avoiding the question, Viper,” Shin said.
“Shin.” Waree tried to stop him, but he did not care.
“I want to know the reason too, Mr. Viper,” Wisana said. “I don’t want to appear rude to you, but we have enemies everywhere now. I don’t understand why an independent army like you would want to help us.”
Everyone there went quiet.
“If I told you that we only wanted to help you for nothing, would you believe me?”
Wisana laughed.
“That’d be hard.” Wisana smiled. “In a war, I don’t think people would want to do that for charity. I think it’s better for you to tell us since we don’t have that much time here either.”
The tall man smiled mildly.
Very sharp. He saw through people. Even though he was impetuous, he was a true leader. He could also understand how the world was very well. He saw through him.
This was when it got entertaining. Viper sighed.
“I want to talk business with you.”
All four of them frowned.
“What business?” Maysa asked.
“About the war, of course. I guarantee you that our agreement would be satisfying for both of us.”
He looked Wisana in the eye. It was as if they were reading each other’s minds. The rest of them swallowed their saliva since the atmosphere got heavier than it should have.
“We want a shelter to treat the wounded. We also need food, items for repairing the ship, and enough weapons to fight the next war.”
Wisana said calmly.
“I can even offer you nice warm beds and luxurious meals.”
Wisana beamed and quickly shook Viper’s hand in a temporary agreement. The audience shouted happily. Maysa sighed in relief since she was afraid that Wisana would not agree to it.
“Hey, you morons! The agreement is made. Now, get back to work. The doctors help the wounded on the ship. The technicians help with the repair. The item crafters, you go look for something good inside the beast for our base. We’re leaving soon.”
“Yes, sir!!”
Everyone seemed very delighted. It was obvious how happy they were to be able to help the Nemesis. They split and move on with their duty. Viper turned back to Wisana and smiled again.
“You’re okay for my people to get inside your ship, right?” Viper asked.
“Of course.” Maysa beamed at him.
He smiled and turned to Wisana.
“We should hurry and leave before nighttime. The monsters here are pretty bad.”
“Understood.” Wisana nodded. “My lead technician is working on the engine. We should be able to fly again in no time.”
----------------
“Woah, that was close. It’s good that I left in time.”
She sighed with relief. The mysterious girl in a robe had to order her huge bird to fly out of the scene urgently since someone surprisingly appeared and killed Dysandwal. She wanted Alexander to be destroyed.
“This is uncalled for!” She screeched. “That Viola lady just appeared out of nowhere and she’s still at it, too. Brrr~~! Just the thought of her gives me goosebumps. I have to report to Lucius.”
She ordered the bird to fly faster till the hoodie on her head slipped off, revealing her pitch-black hair that was clumsily put in a ponytail and her tanned young face. Her golden amber eyes stared in front of her worriedly. She bit her nail and broke into a sweat.
“I told you not to chew your nails when you get excited, right, Miguel?”
Suddenly, a cold voice sounded from behind her, making her startled.
She slowly glanced back. Once she saw who that was, her mouth was opened widely.
“V-V-Viola!?” She screamed.
“I think you’ve gone too far back there, little girl. Spreading the news around to mess with my son, isn’t that a little unkind?”
The lady said monotonously. The tanned girl’s face was pale when Viola suddenly appeared behind her. Viola still had the mask on her face, but the wind had blown her hoodie off her head, revealing her long silver hair.
“..H-How did you get here?”
“I wonder how?”
What was more frightening than her appearance was the weapon she was holding. Viola raised her Claymore sword up!
Blade of Emperor
38,885,662!
The blade created a ray of light when slashing the girl and the bird into pieces. Her crimson blood spattered!
The hit was so hard that she plummeted to the sandy ground!
The dust was everywhere, and the girl’s tanned body was missing half of it. Her amber eyes rolled around in panic. It was only a split second that could take her life if she slipped. Turning her back on someone like Viola was the last thing she should have done!
“Tsk! A puppet?”
Viola complained angrily. She walked up to the girl and stood over her.
She looked at ‘Miguel’ and saw her joints that were not of human beings and her unnaturally wry face.
“Still a coward, huh, Miguel? Using a puppet can only let you live for a day more.” Viola smirked.
“W-Why are you still in Pride? Y-You...”
Miguel tried to talk, but because of the hit, she could barely do that. Viola smiled sweetly at her.
Viola slowly raised her sword which was shining so terrifyingly against the sunlight that even the puppet was scared. It might be because the woman in front of her was so horrifying like a monster.
“I’m back from hell,” Viola said. “The hell that that bastard Lucius gave me. Tell your leader that I’ll go to him one day. Be prepared.”
