Chapter 507: Versus “Gaia” and “Poseidon” (3) Part II
The pain was real.
So, it had been confirmed now that the aura in the shape of a woman in front of him was...
The real thing!
“I asked you why you need the Key of Forbidden?” Sander repeated in a stiff voice.
“Huhuhu.” Aaron chuckled in his throat amusedly. “Don’t play dumb, Sander. You think that we don’t know what your friend has sealed in the Pride world?”
“...”
Sander got silent like he was shocked by those words.
“Then, let me ask you something?” Aaron said with a laugh. “Do you know what it is that your friend has sealed in the Pride world, hm, Sander?”
Getting retorted like that, the one who was putting a weapon on the other tied his brows tightly.
“So, you don’t know.” Aaron burst into a loud laugh now. “He didn’t even share it with a friend like you. And you still trust the damn organization enough to work for them, Sander? Or could it be that Winter’s never thought you were his friend? That’s another interesting topic to... ugh!”
He did not finish speaking. Aaron closed his eyes, clenching his jaws as the blade cut deeper in him.
“I can decide for myself what side I should be on, Aaron,” Sander said. “But okay, you’re right. I don’t know what that guy’s hidden in Pride. But anyway, that thing definitely doesn’t belong to you, because clearly, the guy’s decided to give the key to that Vincent boy already.”
Aaron laughed. He shook his head slightly like those words wore him out.
“If you know what your friend’s been hiding, you’ll understand that it’s not something for a kid like Vincent to process at all.” He said then grinned. “The root of the Nameless has been pulled out of the ground day by day. What can be done now is to wait for it to fall. And you really think that the boy will be able to carry on from Winter?”
Sander was silent for a moment. He narrowed his eyes to the one before him, doubting if that was the truth or just some hot air to play a mind game with him.
“Do you think that the boy will be able to achieve something that even Winter failed? Is the kid strong enough to maintain the root of the Nameless, Sander?”
“...” Sander did not reply.
“Do you think that the boy will stand a chance against Father?” Aaron continued. He started to sense Sander’s mind getting unsteady. “You think that the boy who grew up knowing nothing, unable just to control his own abilities, will step up to be the king of the world?”
“...That...”
“From number one to ten, the kid has just started counting to two or three. And he’s going to make it in time, Sander? You know what Father’s been planning to do to this world, don’t you?”
“I...” Sander looked away confusedly.
“How much can you count on that boy, Sander? Apart from being Viola’s son, in your eyes only, don’t you think that he’s still too amateur? How would he accept his own faith? Let alone the fact about his own power, would he be able to accept that he’s not human? Have you ever thought that he would resent you all after knowing the truth that you all have drawn this destiny for him when he never asked for any of this at all?!”
“...”
The more he talked, the more confused Sander got. Those rust-colored eyes looked away as his hands accidentally loosened. And in the moment where Sander got careless, the man named Aaron would never let this 1 in a hundred chance slip through his fingers. Instantly, ten tentacles were summoned out, rushing to attack Sander!
It was already too late when he realized it. The hands that were pressing the scythe in the enemy’s throat slashed the weapon down to cut his head off, but his decision was too late. Right now, Aaron pushed the large scythe away, making it miss the target. The tall man then bent away to the side and stepped back away smoothly. Meanwhile, every tentacle went straight at Sander all together.
CHUNK!!
7,896,744!!
His strong body was stabbed through by those tentacles. A lot of blood gushed out of his mouth as the tentacles that were still sticking in him lifted him up in the air.
“You’re too careless, Sander,” Aaron said in an amused voice.
“Y ...you.”
“It seems like I won in the second round.” He grinned after speaking, “Your only weakness is an unsteady state of mind. Even though you pretend to be unbothered, your hesitation always brings you disaster. Father often reminded you about this before, too. I thought you had fixed it, you know. This is not like the Mad Dog at all.”
Aaron sighed, reaching for the wound on his neck. And when he saw his fresh blood running down, he curled up a slight smile.
“I would have been dead if you were Viola. Your hesitation is proof that you’re still stuck in between the Nameless and us since you were like our brother before. During the hesitation, you were confused, weren’t you? You couldn’t believe that the organization would be so desperate to push the damn burden to an optimistic boy like him.”
He sighed after speaking. Then he stared at Sander without a smile on his face anymore.
“That’s what disgusts me the most, Sander. How can you stand staying with those scumbags? The organization isn’t any better than some dictators. They only see us as tools. The tools that maintain their existence in this world.”
“You’re wrong.” Sander talked back in a raspy voice.
The listener knitted his brows together. And when he saw a cocky smirk on the other’s face, he got annoyed even more.
Even though he was in a bad condition, Sander still kept a smile on his face.
“What am I wrong about?”
“I ...it’s true that the Nameless is acting like a dictator and a jerk by forcing all burdens on an ordinary boy like Vincent to carry.” He said, coughing dryly. “...B ...but just so you know. That isn’t a burden, it’s the hope of changing this world. Right, Vincent might hate us for drawing his destiny too narrowly, but he will accept it eventually because the blood of the emperor will make him our leader.”
Aaron froze for a moment. He was staring at Sander like he wanted to read through the other’s mind. However, there was only a soft smile on Sander’s face, clearly declaring that the man wanted to be against him as much as possible.
“You’re really hopeless, Sander.”
“Yeah, ...well, just as much as you are.” Sander smiled mockingly. “You’re out here to take the Key of Forbidden independently from Frazier’s order like this means that you all are up to something, aren’t you? Something that doesn’t benefit your father. Is this some kind of rebellion? If so, isn’t it too late for that? Because no matter what you do, you can’t leave this eternity now. Well, since you all have decided to serve your ‘Beloved Father’ already, then why did you betray him?”
“...”
Aaron did not say anything in reply.so, this round, it was Sander’s turn to start playing a mind game.
They both had something in common, which was to always find a chance to bite the other. Even when they could not move, they still found a way to cut the deepest into the other by words.
“I did not betray Father...” He whispered.
“Did you? If you didn’t, then why are you sneaking around and doing things behind his back like this? Normally, Daddy’s boy like you should be licking your beloved father’s boots right now instead, right?”
“Shut up...”
“And let me tell you this, if your Father finds out that his son sneaked around behind his back like this, you all will be screwed. You’d probably get locked up in the dark zone forever, or get your identity deleted. Well, since you’ve already given up your body to be his life’s battery, he can do anything to you, right, Aaron?”
“SHUT UP!!”
