Chapter 45: Chaotic Digging Part I
Chapter 45: Chaotic Digging Part I
“It’s been so long. My butt’s sore now.”
Typically, the complaint came from the tall man as he started to get bored of the trip he had going on.
The bumping up and down from the yellow bird’s pacing made Wisana’s butt hurt. Other than that, the bird also kicked the sand up in the air and into his eyes so many times as it was running that he had to ask Maysa for the goggles to protect his sight.
“Just hang on. We’re almost there,” the one riding in the front said.
“It’s easy for you to say, your butt’s safe because you’re sitting on my lap.”
“Yeah, it’s the right thing for a man to take care of a woman. Besides, you’re my father, aren’t you?”
She hit back with a big grin on her face. Wisana shook his head, looking so done. He then started regretting adopting this little one for the first time. The pair of golden-brown eyes looked at the white travel bird ahead of him before he shouted to its rider with a worried expression.
“Manoch, are we close?!”
“In about 300 meters, bro!” He shouted back.
Hearing the answer, the clear-faced appeared with a smile of relief. In a movie, it looked very easy when people were riding horses across the town. Who would have thought that riding for just twenty minutes could hurt his butt so badly?
“Over there, Wisana. That’s the spot called Crevier.”
Maysa’s voice got his attention to the place ahead of them.
Their destination was a large clearing. The sand in the area was reflecting golden sparks, looking strangely beautiful. There were not any monsters around, but it seemed to be the only place that had some trees and grass growing sparsely.
“There?” Wisana asked. “Why is the sand sparkling?”
“Because the land is plentiful,” Maysa answered briefly. “There are not many places like this in each topography. So, Crevier is the land that makes high-quality magic crystals and gemstones.”
“And the light is the sign saying that the area has some good gems beneath it, right?”
“Yup. The explorers and the miners will be looking for sparkling land like this to dig up their items.”
Wisana nodded in acknowledgment before whipping the reins, rushing the bird to get there faster.
A few moments later, the trio finally got their feet on the sand. Manoch managed to pull the birds under a tree, tying them there, while Wisana was busy bringing the shovels and the lantern out of his inventory window.
“So, how do we start?” Wisana asked, not being so sure.
“Simple. Just normally dig into the dirt. And if you find something, there will be an announcement.”
Maysa said without looking at him. Her tiny hands took the lantern and lit it up for their visibility.
“Huh?” Wisana raised his eyebrows.
“Just do it. You’ll know.”
The other brushed him off, so the man shrugged, not asking anything more.
His golden-brown eyes looked around and he did not know where to start to dig for a good gem. Because for him, this was just a sparkling floor.
“Bro.”
It did not take long before Manoch caught up with them. The glasses man took out a shovel and handed it to him with a nod.
“I think we should split. I’ll go over there, and you dig around here.”
“Alright.”
“Hey, what about me?” Maysa interrupted.
“You don’t have to. With the size like a chihuahua of yours, it’s impressive enough that you can carry the shovel. The same goes with the size of your luck, I think you’ll be just digging up some rocks.”
His voice was monotone like he did not mean any offense, contrasting with his mocking eyes and the annoying smirk he gave her. The one who took all the offends, eyebrows twitched.
“Geez, isn’t that a lot of insulting, mister A?!”
“No, it’s not. I was just telling the facts. Or you can try if you disagree.”
After he finished, his smile went even wider, making the one who was mocked twice in a roll kick her feet irritably before her tiny hands grabbed the shovel and stomped away. She stopped at a spot not very far from the other two before she started digging bumpily.
When the shovel touched the sand, an announcement came a second later.
PING!
“Player Maysa has found 1 item.”
After Albert said that, the girl smirked broadly, turning to look at Manoch with a proud expression of her victory.
“Aw, look, I just stuck the shovel in the sand, but I already found an item here. Well, I guess that my good fortune just humiliated some expert here. So, don’t try to embarrass yourself by talking crap like earlier again!”
She said in such an annoying manner that Manoch let out a short ‘Huh’ from his throat. Then, the spot that Maysa dug started to glow with a shimmering spark as it was shaping into something.
And the item she got was,
A rock.
“BRUHAHAHA!! Aw, just stuck the shovel in the sand, and already got a rock! Don’t try to embarrass yourself by digging some crap up again!” It’s Manoch’s turn for a comeback. He was holding his stomach on the ground, laughing like it was the funniest thing that happened today. Maysa’s face turned red-hot.
“Don’t be so annoying! If you’re so good, then dig. Let me see what you’ll get.”
“Aw, sure. Take a good look. I’ll show you how it’s done.”
The young merchant returned the annoying smirk to her before he started digging. And when the shovel was stabbed in the sand, the announcement came.
PING!
“Player Manoch has found 2 items.”
In the blink of an eye, the glowing light was shining, starting to transform into two items that looked like yellow gemstones. Even though they were not as pretty as the one Wisana saw at the magic warrior office, they still looked familiar with the bright fireball at their cores.
“Player Manoch has earned 2 pieces of level 3 earth gemstones.”
“Aw, I went too hard, didn’t I? One shove, 2 pieces of level 3 gems.”
He said as he was showing an annoying smile, making the girl clench her jaws. She turned away, dragging her shovel along with her without saying a word to him. Seeing that, the winner turned to give a thumbs-up and a satisfied smirk to Wisana who was shaking his head with amusement.
“Man, you really are annoying.” He said with a smile.
“I’m not like this normally, but Maysa is an exception. You can see that she’s really fun to tease.”
Wisana laughed at that before he looked over to Maysa who still seemed to be so pissed.
But he could only let out a sigh as he looked around and saw that there was a lot to dig. So, he had better start digging before the time was up...
“We should split, so we can hurry back to the office.”
