Chapter 422: Damaged Weapon Part II
Chapter 422: Damaged Weapon Part II
“E ...er, thank you a lot for saving us.”
The only boy among the kids spoke up in a shaking voice.
“We would have been dead if you didn’t come here.”
The girl added. The lady in the cloak did not say anything in reply after hearing that. She just put her hand in a pocket inside her cloak with a gesture that looked scary. The girls screamed out, turning to cling to the boy with fear.
“You don’t have to be afraid of me, children.” The lady said in a gentle voice. “You didn’t do something wrong, why would I harm you, hm? I just want to ask you three something. That’s all.”
“W ...what do you want to know?” The boy asked, voice shaking.
Hearing the question, the lady in the cloak let out a soft sigh, then put something out of her pocket. It was a piece of Pride newspaper from days ago. On top of it, the headline was outstanding, saying, “Vincent rises again,” with a picture of a glossy black-haired man with an attractive smile and amber-colored eyes.
“Do you know this man?” she asked in a deep voice.
“Mister Vincent?” The boy asked back nervously. “E ...er, yes, I do. He’s one of those famous people.”
After the answer, the lady started smiling right away.
“Do you know where to find him at the moment?”
“Eh, ...no, I don’t. He’s been missing, no one’s ever seen him or the Nemesis at all until now.”
But this answer made her smile disappear. Those ruby-red eyes shut close with disappointment. After that, she proceeded to put the piece of newspaper back inside her cloak’s pocket right away. Then the slender body turned and walked away without saying a word.
“W ...wait, sister.” The boy called out to her nervously.
She paused, and those red eyes turned to look at him scarily.
“May I ask who you are?”
“Why?” She asked.
“I just want to say thank you for saving us.”
Hearing that, she curled up a slight smile. But it was such a beautiful smile that made the boy stunned. Under the mystery, a strange beauty was hidden there, making the boy blush.
“I’m just a traveler, little boy, not someone significant that you have to remember my name. Also, you don’t have to thank me. Those were some places I put my temper on. You three don’t owe me anything.”
She continued walking after speaking, leaving the boy sighing behind with relief, while he was stroking his hands on his friends to comfort them who still seemed to be in panic with what they saw.
----------------
A night breeze blew as the smell of blood faded away from her nose little by little. The slim one in the large cloak took a deep breath as she continued walking in a clearing somewhere around Lutier.
Her ruby-red eyes looked up at the sky full of stars. She sighed again, her hand was clinging to her chest, looking like it was in terrible pain.
“Where are you now?” She asked. Her sweet voice sounded clearly longing. “What do I have to do to see you again? Please tell me.”
The woman spoke to herself like she was calling out for her lover. Those pretty ruby eyes looked softened as her plump lips pressed together tightly. The longer time passed, the more her heart hurt like it was going to burst. Her strength got weakened every time she thought of the man’s face.
“I really want to see you...”
“After killing that many people, what are you muttering to yourself here alone, hm?”
Suddenly. A man’s voice rang up, startling the slender woman. The look in those red eyes changed right away. Right now, it looked harsh and intimidating. She glanced over her shoulder and saw two men standing there.
The men were wearing similar clothes which was a large worn-out cloak covering their bodies. One of them looked about 185 centimeters tall with long hair brushing against his neck. His face looked like a tough man, but also looked mature and grand. The other man was a small young man, looking about 165 centimeters tall. He had light brown hair, and those black eyes like marbles were staring at her cautiously.
“Who are you? And since when and how did you approach me without me noticing it?” The woman said furiously.
“We just got some burglar’s feet.” The taller man said with a smiley face.
“What do you want? I don’t remember knowing you before.” She said and then paused for a moment. “You’re ones of the thieves earlier?”
“Hey, how could you include us with those crappy players? That sounds very depressing.”
The tall one still kept on sounding annoying. Judging from his look, this man could be around 38 years old or something.
“Then what do you want?!”
She bawled out aloud as the gloss black blade scythe reappeared in her hands. A sign that she was ready for another fight now.
Seeing that, the smaller man who was standing there pushed his cloak away, before holding his fist up. He was wearing knuckle-dusters with a cross printed on each one of them, ready to fight as well, however, the taller man held his hand out between them first.
“Don’t be too rushed, kid,” he said in a calm voice. “You too, girl. Let me tell you that we’re not your enemies at all, we just have questions for you. That’s all.”
“For me?”
Her lips parted slightly. However, her slender hands were still gripping the weapon handle firmly.
“I heard that you’re looking for Vincent, aren’t you?”
The tall man said with a smug grin. Her eyebrows arched at what he said. Then she cancelled the scythe off right away.
“You know that man?” She unintentionally yelled out.
And the tall man curled up a satisfied smile when he saw that reaction. He tilted his head to the side a little, before pointing at the lady.
“If you want the answer, could you reveal your gorgeous face for us to see first?”
“My face?” she asked, eyebrows raised.
“Yes, that’ll be an acceptable trade for what you’re asking, don’t you think?”
Hearing that, she did not say anything in reply. Her slender hand reached to the hood on her head and pushed it off as gently as she could, revealing black hair ruffling through the night breeze. Her face looked young, and her skin was fair white like snow. Those plump lips were beautiful pink. Regardless of any point of view, she was flawlessly beautiful.
After seeing her, the taller man side-eyed the one next to him like he was asking for his opinion.
The young man with black eyes shook his head in reply with an emotionless expression.
“I don’t know her.”
The taller man huffed out a slight sigh, before curling up a smile at this black-haired, gorgeous lady right away.
“Now that you see my face, can you tell me if you know that man?”
She asked for her answer instantly. The beautiful face was not smiling nor frowning, but those red-like-ruby eyes were flashing with seriousness, making the taller man chuckle.
“So impatient.” He said through a laugh. “I’m not going to ask who you are and where you’re from, but you don’t seem to have a bad intention for that man at all. So, what if I say that I can take you to who you want to meet? What’d you say?”
