Chapter 394: Mission to Steal the Crystal (1) Part V
Chapter 394: Mission to Steal the Crystal (1) Part V
“For that reason, Leader Valentine, I don’t want the crystal. It’s up to the army to decide. Like he said, I’m new in this war, and the crystals are our hope. I wouldn’t be confident to carry it with me.”
“That is a good decision, Leader Vincent,” William shouted gladly.
Valentine was surprised by Wisana’s reaction.
She never expected that he would accept this so easily.
Meanwhile, Wisana and Maysa did not say anything further. Both looked each other in the eyes, before smiling. They were the smiles that looked the shadiest.
Right, they did not want any of the crystals.
Not for now.
----------------
Inside a large warehouse that had some bright light on, completely contrasting with the last time. The massive machine that had just been painted with colors looked remarkably better than before with white and red on some edges. The cable codes that were linking up everywhere had been removed now.
In a quick glance, it was known that the machine had been completed finally.
Meanwhile, the players from the item development unit were standing together on the metal bridge above the machine.
The same computer was still on the bridge with a tiny figure of Angie sitting behind it with Manoch and the red item production unit’s leader, Mek, working on their computers nearby.
“Alright, guys, are you ready?”
Manoch spoke up in a serious voice.
“Yes,” Angie replied.
“Anytime now.” Mek smiled excitedly.
Hearing that, Manoch managed to press a big red button in front of him right away.
“Alright then, the first major test of the Alexander will start in 3 seconds.”
After his words, a large number appeared on the transparent screen in front of each mechanic. The number started counting down to zero and the massive machine started working. A huge amount of hot steam blew out, making everyone hold their hands up to cover their faces instantly.
A lot of golden sparks spread out from the back of it, while Angie’s eyes were looking at the graphing information on the computer in front of her.
“The main engine has been activated. Nova engine’s stability starts off at 40%.”
After her report, every mechanic started cheering happily.
“Great. It starts off at 40% this time?!”
“Right, we worked our assed off and it only started at 10% last time. There’s some hope!”
“Chief Manoch was right to use the Lanova as the main material in the latest modification.”
“We don’t know how the chief of staff would say this though, using her stuff without permission like this.”
“She’d totally be glad. Think about it, we’ve turned a motorcycle into this big guy. We just have to work until its stability is at least 95%, so we can use it practically then.”
The mechanics were all chatting excitedly. Some took off their hats and breathed a sigh of relief. Perhaps it was because they had all been so worn out from working on this item for several months. They had never built anything this big before. And of course, they would be happy if this "Alexander" could really be put to use because then they would be known as a group of people who could build an item that only a few pieces existed in this world in such a short period of time!
“Mek, how’s the electronic system in the Alexander doing?” Manoch turned to ask.
“No troubles. Every system is sharing electricity perfectly. I think we’re on the right track to make every part have its own power core like this.”
“Good.” Manoch smiled in agreement, before looking at his screen. “And the magic crystal system installation is doing well, too. The system to cut off the crystal that might have the element effect works great also. I think these systems 100% pass.”
After hearing the words from these two, the mechanics smiled ear to ear. Some of them even turned to put their arm around the other’s neck or shake hands to celebrate. If the test went well like this, their Alexander baby would surely get its birth certificate today!
However, the last problem still had not been clarified, because the only one who had been awfully quiet was Angie. Before everyone realized it, Manoch and Mek were already staring at the little girl now.
“That’s our problem, right?” Manoch spoke up.
“How is it, Angie?” Mek asked.
The little girl with silver hair let out a soft sigh, before looking at the two.
“70%.”
Everyone was silenced by her words. It was true that the percentage increased with doubled speed, but seemingly it just stopped there.
Seeing that, Manoch let out a huge sigh.
“We got 75% in the previous test.”
Listening to that, both Angie and Mek hung their heads low with disappointment. After that, the three pressed the buttons to cancel the test on the computers as the mechanics looked wither after they were so confident that their hard work would be successful. But it turned out the other way around...
“Alright, alright, guys, don’t be sad. There’s still a chance. Hurry up and find out where we need to fix. Let’s go. Check the machine, too, just in case there’s something broken. It’s no use feeling down now.”
The orders were like the motivation to make everyone respond in a soft voice, but they then separated up to do their jobs right away.
There were only the three left at their stations.
They all looked at each other’s faces hopelessly.
Especially Manoch, he even held his hands up to rub his temples harshly.
“Where did I go wrong now?” He spoke up tiredly.
“To be honest, it’s not strange for a rush project to have this kind of error sometimes. What’s strange is that it has to be done within three months.” Mek sighed.
“Well, then you better get used to strange things, Mek.” Manoch turned to smile amusedly at him. “Because you’ll be surprised about how many strange things our leader can pull.”
“That’s right.”
Mek held his hand to scratch the nape of his neck as he forced up a wry smile.
Angie cracked into an amused laugh at that, too, but she turned it into a cough so smoothly. “Anyway, we have to rush and finish it by tomorrow, because boss needs it urgently.”
“What? That urgently?” Mek cried out of shock.
They had not figured out how to fix the biggest issue here yet, but the deadline was just a few hours away now. He knew that his boss probably was not going to yell in his face if they failed to finish this project. But he also knew that if they failed to complete the Alexander in time, there would be a great deal of damage following surely.
“We must do it, nevertheless. There’s no other choice now.” Manoch said wearily.
“For goodness’ sake, I wasn’t wrong about coming to the Nemesis to find challenges,” Mek said sarcastically with a smiley face. “I want my salary raised after this project, Ae, or I’d feel like my life was shortened by ten years.”
That might sound like they were nagging at each other, but those words made both Manoch and Angie feel amused still.
“You get anything from the graphs, Angie?” Manoch turned to ask the little mage.
“Electricity pressure and magic’s circulation worked perfectly fine. We can cut overloading and element effect problems out right away, the systems I wrote never miss. What we’re missing right now is an immense amount of power resource.”
“An immense amount of power?”
The boys repeated aloud.
“Right. You two have been energizing the machine by changing many magic crystals like changing the flashlight’s batteries, but that’s not going to be enough. The Alexander is a massive machine with many kinds of functions. That kind of small resource isn’t going to be able to power this giant. If we want it to work at 100%, we need a bigger power resource.”
Listening to that, Manoch held his hand up to touch under his mouth as he considered.
Meanwhile, Mek messed his hair up harshly.
“Where are we going to find that big power resource at this time? We don’t have an inferno crystal like when you developed the butterfly effect for leader anymore. A power resource with about the same quality is always dropped from the bosses.”
Angie did not say anything. She just looked away and was at her wit’s end.
Because if they asked her, she would not know what they should use as the power resource either.
However, Manoch probably had the answer for himself already because he just snapped his finger aloud.
“I think I know where to find that massive power resource.”
“Huh?”
The other two cried out in surprise.
But when they looked the merchant in the eyes, the one with the plan gave them a grin right away.
“There’s the power resource that has its own health points with great ability stats. Also, it can restore its energy once every day, too. You can say that it is a limitless power resource.”
Hearing that, Mek and Angie turned to catch eye for a second.
“There is?”
“Of course.” He said and winked at them. “It’ll be a bit difficult for us to get it though. But no need to be worried, I just figured out how we’re going to get it now.”
