Chapter 348: The Night Before War Part VIII

Chapter 348: The Night Before War Part VIII

“See, you really love your sister.” She spoke.

Wisana slipped out a laugh at her words.

“Don’t you, too?” He spoke. “You really love your brother that made you talk to me about your concern so straightforwardly like this.”

“Well, yeah.” Valentine smiled sweetly, tilting her head down a little. “You really care about the people around you. And to be honest, I started to be jealous of Miss Maysa now, since you probably take care of her so well.”

Wisana did not say anything but gave her a slight smile. After that, there was silence falling between them for a moment before Valentine let out a long sigh and nodded harshly at Wisana.

“Alright, let’s stop talking about our younger siblings for now.” She smiled widely. “I have another thing to talk about with you, and it’s a very important one as well.”

“There’s more?”

The listener smiled amusedly, feeling curious about what it possibly was.

“Yes, this one is serious.” Valentine nodded. “I think you’ve heard about the Signetic Syncro before, right?”

Hearing the word, Wisana paused. Of course, he had heard it from Sander, his master before. The “Signetic Syncro” was a special substance that leaked from the brains of gifted people. The substance that gave those people the special abilities for a moment and that made them some kind of a superhuman.

“You know about it, too?” Wisana asked.

“Even better than that.” Valentine smiled sweetly. “Because I have the Signetic as well.”

“Eh?” The listener raised his eyebrows.

“And it’s not just me. The four gods all have it in them, too. And that’s what I want to discuss about it with you, as a person who has that thing in you as well.”

“Next time, could you not lock the door, if you know that you can’t wake up on your own? Because I don’t know how to come in and wake you up like that.”

A bored-sounding complaint was from a woman named Emwika, while she was walking quickly after a man. Moreover, she was adjusting the necktie for that small man with a strangely bored gesture.

“Em, I need some private time as well. If I didn’t lock the door and you could get in my room any time, what would happen if you saw me naked out of the shower? That’d be an event in an adult game, wouldn’t it?”

The owner of the annoying voice spoke up like he was unbothered. He had his fluffy black hair tied up in a little ponytail. His sharp, light grey eyes were narrowing sleepily.

“Boss, hold still. I can’t tie your necktie like this. And we’re running late for the party already.”

“I know. That’s why I’m in a hurry.”

The small man said simply. Right now, he was in a beige suit as he walked with Emwika, the Pandora guild’s chief of staff, who looked so tired of her leader sleeping anywhere at any time and being so difficult to wake up somehow.

But suddenly, the man stopped his feet, making the woman who was trying to tie his necktie beside him stop as well. She sighed slightly.

“Good, you finally stopped and be still.” Emwika let out a long sigh.

“It’s not like that, Em. Get away from here.”

“Get away from what? We’re running so late now...”

“You should look ahead of you a bit. An uninvited company is right there.”

The man said with a slight smile on his face, while Emwika was looking ahead like she was told. Then she paused, instantly letting go of the necktie in her hands.

Ahead of them in this small walkway inside the airship, there was a stranger standing in a large blue cloak with the hood covering up their head completely, making it hard to see their face under it. The person was not that tall. They were standing still, while they were staring right at Lavi.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Emwika shouted. “If you attack before the war starts, that will get you lost and banned, you know. And you’re in one of the first 100th-ranked guilds anyway, so you shouldn’t think about doing something stupid like this.”

Hearing Emwika’s words, the stranger was still quiet. Their eyes were looking at Lavi only. And seeing that, the man chuckled, holding his hand up to push his chief of staff to the side.

“Back away, Em.” He spoke.

“But boss,” Emwika shouted aloud.

Lavi only glanced at her from the corner of his eye. And those sharp, light grey eyes made the woman feel small in the blink of an eye. So, Emwika kept her mouth shut, before grudgingly avoiding him to the other side right away.

After that, Lavi pulled his tie off and then stared back at the other one.

“I’m not going to ask who you are.” He spoke. “But I’ve got to admit that you’re so brave for openly challenging me in a fight like this. I really don’t mind this kind of people anyway.”

The one in the hooded cloak got in the ready position to fight right after he finished speaking,

It looked like one of Taekwondo’s moves which instantly made Lavi pause when he saw that.

“This pattern,”

He spoke up quietly. And in a blink later, the one in the cloak launched themself forward. And Lavi did not even realize the second when a foot of the other one was in front of his face. What he knew for sure was that this one was so fast that his eyes could not even comprehend!

WUP!

“Boss!” Emwika cried out.

“It’s okay, Em. I got this.”

Lavi said with a soft smile. He stepped backward after getting away from most of the strong and fast attack from the stranger. The attack barely touched his shirt, even.

“That’s not bad.” He said smilingly. “But your main leg is still unbalanced.”

After speaking, he poked the other one’s ankle with his leg, making them stunned instantly. And in the second, Lavi spun quickly and cast his leg up in the face of the enemy harshly.

WUP!

A strong wind blew against the face of the one in the cloak instead. Lavi intentionally stopped the attack in a nick of time before it actually hit like he was teasing the other.

“You would have gotten knocked out if that hit. But it’s such a shame that attacking directly in the face is prohibited in a real Taekwondo competition.”

He said and backed away. After that, he started doing footwork, a sign that he was shifting into his combat mode now.

“It’s clear that you were being so careless because you were too focused on attacking. I’ll show you how a real attack should be now.”

Right after his words, Lavi launched himself at the target. The first fist was thrown fast in the face of the other. The one in the hooded cloak held their hands to guard themself out of instinct. However, that turned out to be just a trick when Lavi changed the punch attack into a kick in the torso instead. And once again, he stopped the kick right before it actually hit accurately.

“This one would have gotten me scores. And if I didn’t hold it back, you would have been curling around your stomach out of pain on the floor by now.”

“Tch!”

The one who was looked down upon clenched their jaws, before throwing the ridge of their hand at him with full strength. Lavi took the attack with one hand, before striking back with his back hand. And he stopped it before it hit again.

“Attack out of temper will only create a weak spot for you.”

He spoke with a smiley face, before pulling himself away and spin-kicking with full force.

“Here’s the real one. Get your hands up to guard your rips now!”

“Eh?”

The owner of the slim figure made a confused noise out of their throat after he told them that. But at that moment, Lavi spin-kicked them with most of his strength being held back, and that person held their hands up to take the damage out of instinct as well. And with this actual attack, the person was knocked over on the floor, holding their attacked arm there.

The fight ended with Lavi teaching the other how to fight without him even dropping a single drop of sweat. Seeing that, Emwika blew out a sigh of relief, before walking back to his side.

“You’re okay, boss?” She asked.

“Yeah, I am.” He replied, smiling. “The other one is more worrying. Those attacks were Taekwondo, right, kid? You look young, judging from your body size, so tiny.”

“...You’re the one who tells people that.”

The chief of staff nagged with a quiet voice, making Lavi turn to give her a heavy stare. The one who just slipped her tongue held her hands in apology instantly, because she knew the topic about height was the only flaw of her leader.

“Hey, now that we know the results of the fight, you’re not going to show your face a bit? At least as a Taekwondo fighter, you should have some manners and bow in respect to your opponent after the fight, too, you know.

After Lavi’s words, the one who was laying on the floor started pushing themself up to sit strugglingly. The hood that was covering their face up started falling off their head slowly.

“Ow, you’re good at this like usual, Wit.”

“A girl?”

Emwika exclaimed in a high-pitched tone. Meanwhile, Lavi was gasping at the one who had just revealed her face to them, a girl with short, firing red hair. Her face was sweetly beautiful with a pair of big round eyes and plumped lips.

“Orn?” He narrowed his eyes.

“I finally found you.” She said, before giving him a sweet smile. “You’ve never contacted me ever since you moved out of Grandpa’s gym. He’s so worried that you won’t continue your Taekwondo training. But from what I saw just now, I guess he doesn’t have to be worried about that anymore now.”

Listening to that, the man could still not make head or tail out of it. He looked like he was about to say something, but he could not put his words in a sentence at all.

“Er, ...well,”

“You don’t have to be so surprised about how I got here. Anyway, about that you left without telling me goodbye, I still remember that clearly until now, you know.”
