Chapter 212: Qualifying Round Part II
Chapter 212: Qualifying Round Part II
“What’s this qualifying round again?”
Maysa complained tiredly after she found out about the special round. The light gray eyes were looking down at many people that were crowded in many spots outside of Dores. She was sitting on the Light ring grandstand right now. The face that was bending down to see the town through the transparent floor beneath her feet looked worried a little that it made the one sitting next to her let out a chuckle.
“Don’t worry May. Na’s going to pass this qualifying round just fine.”
Waree said smilingly with a box of popcorn in her hand for little Angie to grab and put in her mouth enjoyingly. ...And after Maysa heard that, she let out a long sigh, glancing at one of the large screens that were floating in the middle of the Light ring, then she sighed again.
“I’m not worried about Wisana’s skill. I’m worried about the rules of the competition.”
The listener forced up a wry smile at her words, before looking to the side and seeing that Nuchjaree and Tunwa were walking back to their seats with a smiley face.
“Where have you been?” Waree asked.
“I went to buy this, TA-DA!”
Nuchjaree said and brought up a light blue transparent screen for Waree to see. And it got a chuckle out of the younger one instantly, because the thing that she just bought was...
“A bet window? You still have the mood to take a bet at a time like this?” Maysa scolded.
“Of course, May. How would we miss this?” Tunwa smiled broadly. “Come on, betting in the game isn’t against any laws. Gambling houses are formed according to every game’s rules. Also, this makes this event more fun and exciting for us to root for, you know.”
The listener frowned her mouth with a sour expression, before letting out a long sigh.
“Did you buy one for me, too, Nuch?”
“Oh, of course!” Then Nuchjaree handed out a minidisc to Waree. And the younger one managed to open the disc up, making it disappear and become a light blue screen like Nuchjaree’s.
“You’re betting with them, too?” Maysa sighed.
“It’s nothing serious, May. Also, this gambling list is high-quality information about the competitors, too. Look.” Then she pressed a button to show the first page on the screen, pointing at the text “Table of the players and stakes.”
“It has their names and their betting prize as well.”
Maysa looked at the information in front of her with interest. It said that the top player was Shin, which was obvious. And his prize was betting 10,000 for 10, which was way too high that she was not that interesting to take a bet on. Because if Shin actually won the event, the ones who invested in him would not get so much profit from that.
Seeing that, Maysa chuckled.
Of course, these gambling houses had to set his rate this high, since that guy was also known for defeating Ouroboros now.
“Here, May. If you press this button, it will show you the information about that player.”
Waree said, then pressed Shin’s name on the screen. And the image on the window changed, bringing them to the next page that had Shin’s picture in the coolest angle of his cold face.
And the information that was showing there was about his current year’s hunter points, the number of the monsters he had killed, including the difficult ones that he hunted, his levels, and his class. There was information about his deadly weapon named Longinus as well.
“The gambling houses probably work with the Association of Explorers for sure, so they got such detailed information.”
Waree nodded in agreement with her friend’s words.
“Where’s Uncle Sander anyway?” Maysa turned to ask Nuchjaree.
“Ugh, he hasn’t left the souvenir store yet, so it will take a while. Just don’t mind him.”
Nuchjaree replied tiredly, before handing Maysa a bottle of water. A moment later, there was a loud cheer coming from people on the grandstand, when the screens in the middle of the ring showed GM June again.
“Sorry for keeping you all waiting. The rules in the first-round competition are now ready!!”
GM June’s voice cheered the audience to be bustling in the blink of an eye. She winked at the camera, before snapping her fingers to change her picture on the screens into the rules’ detail right away.
“The rules in the qualifying round are simple. We’ll divide the players who are waiting outside of the town into four groups, including block A for players in the north, block B for players in the east, block C for players in the south, and block D for players in the west.”
After her words, each screen broadcasted a live image of that block’s direction it was facing for the audience to see many participants who were waiting there.
“Which block is Na in?” Waree hurriedly asked.
“I think he’s in the north direction, so he’s got to be in block A.”
Then Maysa pressed a button on her seat, making a large window pop up in front of her. And the window was showing the live images from block A.
“And in each block, we’re going to release monsters with levels of difficulty that match the number of players in that block for them to fight. ...And that’s the rule.”
Then the screens changed to June’s pretty face again.
“It will take 15 minutes to release the monsters in the blocks for competitors to fight and eliminate as many as they can. And the score each player gets will depend on the number of monsters that the player kills. In the case of some monsters getting attacked and killed by more than one player, the score will be shared with the players according to the damage that each one causes.”
She finished speaking, then the screens changed into some tables instead.
“And this is how competitors can earn scores and special bonuses.”

Maysa stared at the information she just got as she read it thoroughly. Then she looked up to catch eyes with Waree, knowingly without saying any words that Wisana would get one of the special bonuses for sure since he had a fast speed and reflexes like a cockroach like that.
Then the screens showed the image of GM June once again.
“The round will end right away after 15 minutes, and after that, we will count the players’ scores and compare them with each other’s. The players who are qualified to pass to the next round will be the top 5 players with the highest score from each block.”
Hearing that, the audience started making a sensation right away.
“Just 5 players from each block? Adding them to those top ten that were teleported out means that there will be only 30 players in the next round. 30 players from thousands? Isn’t it too difficult?”
Maysa complained in a tone that sounded more amused than surprised. Because she knew from her experience that the GMs, especially Thada, were tricky. ...But she never thought that they could be this “evilly tricky” like this.
“In such a case, will that guy make it to the next round?”
