Chapter 205: The Parallel Night Part I
Chapter 205: The Parallel Night Part I
“Coming up next, I, your Tunwa, would like to sing three sweet songs for Nam.”
YEAHHH!!
The people at the party started to get louder and louder every time, or in other words to be more casual would be, “heat up,” or something like that. Right now, the party members were having a fun time at the small celebration that they hosted by themselves.
Especially Tunwa whose face had turned all red with the alcohol he had been drinking. He was grabbing the microphone to show off his singing skill to everyone. Luckily, he was in a music band when he was in high school, so his voice in singing was counted as good, or else it would have been torture to listen to a drunk person singing.
Seeing his best friend was ‘wasted’ like that, Wisana who was sitting from the back let out a sigh as he curled up a pity smile for him. At the same time, his rough hands were typing something on the screen in front of him in a steady rhythm.
“What are you doing here by yourself, brother?”
Then a familiar sweet voice greeted him, drawing those amber eyes to look at the owner of it. And then, he smiled broadly right away.
“If I stay with them there, I wouldn’t stop myself from drinking for sure. And look at Tun, he’s acting silly right after he put the booze in his mouth. So, I’d better not join him. What about you, May? Why aren’t you joining them?”
“My reason is similar to yours.”
“Then come sit with me.” The young man invited her with a smiley face.
And hearing that, the newcomer giggled, before sitting down next to him. A relaxed smile appeared on her cute face. She leaned closer to look at Wisana’s information window, looking like she was curious about why this man was isolating himself here alone.
“What are you doing?” Maysa asked.
“I’m filling up the details in upgrading Jinnie.”
Maysa paused for a moment, before craning her neck to look at Wisana’s screen.
“...You need to do that?” She asked.
“Yeah.” He answered with a smile, before moving the screen closer to her so that she could see it better. “...The terms of upgrading the grade A ram, the player has to kill at least 4 bosses in the game and have at least level 50 before they can upgrade it.”
“’Kay...” The girl drawled her voice, before looking down to read in information.
“So, I’m sitting here to recall how many bosses I’ve killed since I was on the trip.” He said, scratching his neck. “...Like, is the Green mushroom counted as a boss?”
Hearing that, Maysa chuckled.
“Yeah, it is, though it’s just a mini boss.”
She said, pushing the screen back to him and still giggling that the watcher smiled wryly at that. Maysa was reminded about when Wisana played the game for the first time, and she could never not find it funny. She still remembered clearly how he was running for his life from Lord Inferno like a cockroach.
So, she could not imagine how this guy defeated the green mushroom boss.
“Okay, so, first I got the green mushroom boss, then I got Lord Inferno, and then the Lycan, and finally, Lord Orc.”
The cheeky one counted the names of the bosses as he typed them in the box on the screen.
“I got exactly four bosses.” Then he let out a sigh of relief. “That was close, right, Jinnie? I felt so lucky when Nam said that I was the one who killed the Lycan, or I wouldn’t be able to upgrade you right now for sure.”
“Yes, Master,” Jinnie replied cheerfully, making Maysa who was sitting with them could not help but smile, too.
“Jinnie sounds so happy. I think after you upgrade her, her image will be very cute.”
Wisana smiled widely. “I think so, too.”
The AI’s voice that replied was so sweet, even though there were very few people who could hear it that her voice sounded a bit shy. And one of those people was Maysa. She could not hold back her smile at the person who said that he did not like sensitive stuff, but he was actually sensitive and soft to every girl and it had become one of his cute, charming points now.
“Then, I’m going to start upgrading you now, Jinnie.”
As he finished speaking, Wisana pressed the okay button on the screen softly, making the image bend and swirl in a circle, before a new notice box popped up with a text message that said, “Ram Date Update.”
“Data update confirmed. Data download completed. Approximately, it takes about 10 hours to upgrade the new ram.”
“10 hours?!”
The two shouted out in unison, after knowing the time used in upgrading was way longer than the first-time upgrade. The young man frowned his eyebrows, never expecting that upgrading his AI with a higher-grade ram would take this much time. ...The last time took only 2 hours.
He thought, then checked the time in the game to see that it was almost midnight now. So, if he agreed to start upgrading now, it would be finished around 10 a.m.
And tomorrow morning, he had to go join the Hunting Gate as well. So, if he did not have Jinnie to support him by that time, he could be at a disadvantage against other players somehow.
A moment later, they both looked each other in the eyes as if they were trying to think.
“What time does the Hunting Gate start tomorrow?” Maysa asked.
“I think it opens for sign-up at 8, and the event starts at 9.30.”
Hearing that, the chief of staff put her hand up to touch her lips as she was trying to figure things out.
“You’ll be fighting without Jinnie for quite a long time then.” She said, then frowned her eyebrows. “I heard that the Hunting Gate is difficult as well. I don’t think you will be alright without your assistance like Jinnie. Normally you use her as the third eye for you all along, right?”
Wisana glanced in the other direction, considering. What Maysa said made sense, but it was just the first half hour in the event without Jinnie. Because once her upgrading was done, Jinnie would be back with better support for him in battles.
And this was why Wisana was making a clicking noise in his throat indecisively like this.
“It’s alright, Master.” That was the reason that the AI had to say something as well. “Start upgrading me now. I’m sure that you’re going to be alright in the first half hour that I’m gone. You can survive on your own because you’ve improved a lot already.”
Hearing the AI’s long speech, they both got silent, catching each other’s eyes again and laughing out loudly in unison.
“You really think so? You think that your master is that reliable?” Maysa teased playfully.
“I’m sure he is! Master has been through many dangers, and he’s survived all of them. So, right now, my master is not the same person anymore.”
Just as expected, Jinnie really was the type of girl who was clingy and only loyal to her master for sure, because her voice sounded suddenly pissed after she heard Maysa’s tease. And hearing that from the AI, Maysa laughed instantly.
“Guess I have to agree with your AI then. Because if I don’t trust that you’re reliable, this girl definitely will hate me.”
Maysa smiled amusedly, as well as Wisana.
“I guess so, too.” Then he let out a loud laugh. “If you insist, I’m just going to trust you on this, Jinnie. Also, I’m dying to see what my best girl looks like, too.”
“Y ...yes, Master.” Jinnie stutteringly acknowledged. “Then would you like to confirm the data upgrade now?”
“Sure, let’s go.”
“Copy that.”
BEEP!
There was a soft beep going off, before the upgrade window started installing data immediately after, making Wisana chuckle as he turned to smile at Maysa.
“Why isn’t my Al so adorable like her, too?” Maysa smiled widely.
“He’d be sulky if he heard that.”
Then they both burst out laughing.
