Chapter 141: Countering a crowd of Yeti Part I
“The 7 curses?” The owner of a cold voice asked. His handsome face appeared with a trace of small curiosity as his amethyst purple eyes were looking at the other man who was giving him a wry smile.
“Well, I made a mistake by buying them from a jerk, and I even paid him ten thousand!”
“He didn’t know there were cursed weapons in the game,” Waree added to help make her brother’s nonsense more credible. And it seemed like Shindanai understood her point well, so he shrugged before extending his hand to Wisana.
“Mind if I take a look at them?”
“You wanna see?” He asked.
“Are you sure, Shin? These swords have strong curses with them.” Waree protested. And Angela, who was sitting next to her, was trying so hard not to laugh. For her, this 7 curses story was a brilliant joke to pass some time during a tea party, especially when the one in trouble was Wisana.
The tall man sitting next to her shook his head slowly like he was not bothered by that at all.
“Don’t worry. A crusader like me has a Steel Body skill and Metal Blood skill. They are preventive for physical curses and magical attack skills.” He finished explaining, before handing out his hand again. And Wisana who was being asked for the items glanced at his sister doubtfully.
“Here you go. Be careful.”
A moment later, the said cursed weapons were handed to Shindanai. The young man held the set of weapons up, flipping them around with the anxious eyes of the siblings staring without a blink.
“Let me try drawing it out.” He said, gesturing to pull the ice blade out of the sheath, making Wisana jolt.
“Hey, don’t!”
However, his warning did not find the other, because the black-haired young man had already pulled the sword out of its case, making the other three who were circling around him a second ago back away instantly.
But it was surprising that there was not any calamity happening. The prudent man was able to examine the shiny blade in his hand attentively for a long period of time and Wisana was getting confused now.
“H... How are you still fine? When I drew it out for the first time, I was frozen into a popsicle.” The pair of violet eyes glanced at the source of the voice, before letting out a slight snort as he put the sword back in the sheath.
“I told you that I had a Steel Body. The frozen curse doesn’t affect me.”
“Oh, I see,” Wisana said, then sighed out of relief. He moved to sit in the same position, as well as the other party members, even Angela, who was also back away, too.
In the meantime, Shindanai was examining the items, thoroughly piece by piece. His sharp eyes that were staring at them looked more tense than usual like he was concentrating on studying their abilities.
Finally, he put the swords back in place and handed them back to the owner.
“H ...how was it?” Wisana asked excitedly.
“Dumb.” The answer was so awfully short that made the listener crestfallen.
“Come on. There’s no need to remind me of that. I know I was dumb for bringing this kind of stuff with us. My sister said the same thing as you did many times already. So, please, could you help me find a way to get rid of them?”
“There, there, don’t cry, Na. There has to be a way to fix this surely.” Waree held her hand up to stroke her brother’s head, who looked like he was about to cry at any moment over how pathetic he was.
But Shindanai continued to speak.
“I wasn’t talking about you, Vincent...” The sentence drew every eye to look at the speaker unexpectedly. “I was talking about the man who sold these swords to you. He was dumb for selling the items for only ten thousand, while they’re probably worth millions.”
“Are you serious?” Wisana asked with a shocked face.
“Do I look like I’m joking to you?”
Getting retorted back like this, the swords’ owner let out a snort.
“From what I see, yes, you do.” He spoke. “What’s so worthy about these swords? You see this fire blade? I drew it once and I almost got burned to death. And this ice blade was so cold that it froze me solid like a piece of pork in a freezer. Not to mention these damn small blades, each one was a pain in a way that you can’t even imagine!”
The furious complaint came from the user who had experienced hell from the items. Waree could only let out a sigh, and Angela was about to roll on the ground laughing.
Still, the other man remained unbothered.
“And?”
“And? And that they’re disasters for me. I can’t remove them from my weapon equipment slots, and I have to keep them hanging on my body like this. I don’t know what my friends would say if they see me like this.”
“So, you’re not going to use them?”
“Of course not. Why would I want them to screw me over again?” Wisana said moodily as he threw the trashy items back in his inventory window. Shindanai let out a soft sigh at that.
“Listen, Vincent, there’s no such thing as a useless thing. If we know the right way to use it, maybe the junk in your hand could be a brilliant item as well.” Hearing that, Wisana let out a long sigh as he held up a hand to cup around his chin in boredom.
“You can say that because the swords can’t do you any harm, can they?”
“That’s true.”
However, Wisana made a bored face only for a few moments, before an idea popped up in his head.
“That’s right. If these hell swords don’t affect you, then why don’t you use them?”
“Me?” Shindanai asked, pointing to himself.”
“Yeah, you have that steel thing, don’t you? You should have them, and I’m not going to charge you or anything, bro. So, what’d you say?”
“No.” The other one cut him off right away, making Wisana look completely disappointed. “Don’t give a bow to a player who uses a gun, Vincent. It’s not like I don’t want to help you, but all the abilities those swords have will be useless in my hand.”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s true that those curses don’t work on me because I have Steel Body skill. But my Metal Blood skill will erase every curse around me as well. So, it means that my skills will destroy the curses completely.”
“And that is not a good thing?”
“If they’re in my hand, the swords are not different from junk. And I won’t carry that junk around. I hope you’d understand.” The explanation was truly clear, and it made Wisana crestfallen. He collapsed on the table he was sitting at. And the girls glanced at him with a wry smile, thinking.
Surely, who would be crazy enough to mess with those curses, if they were not troublesome like Waree’s brother?!
“So, it means that I have to figure out how to remove the curses on my own, right?” Wisana whined quietly.
“You don’t have to remove them.” Shindanai replied firmly in a deep voice.
“Are you serious? Why would I want this shame with me all the time?”
