Chapter 847: Evolution
Chapter 847: Evolution
As the progress bar beneath Kirlia’s profile picture began to jump wildly and suddenly hit 100%, the Rotom Pokédex’s body jerked.
At the moment it detected through its data chip that Kirlia had completely digested the Genetic Potion…. i.e. it was when the development level of its psychic power reached 100%, the brightness of Kirlia’s light of evolution surged to its peak!
“I didn’t expect Kirlia to actually evolve…”
Terrance, the Contest Master, had sent out a Kirlia, which had left many people with doubts in their minds, but now, all those doubts vanished.
The light of evolution shattered and dispersed. Kirlia disappeared, replaced by Gardevoir’s brand-new form!
Looking at this extraordinary Gardevoir, its entire being radiating a formidable aura, the audience had no doubt that it had gained unparalleled, immense strength!
Gardevoir’s white body looked as though it were clad in an elegant ballroom gown. Its hairstyle had also changed, becoming curled and extending downward past its head. There was no clear boundary between its green arms and hands; its slender fingers connected straight to its hands, as if it were wearing gloves. In addition, the fin-like horn that had been on its head before evolution had moved to its chest and back, while sharp, spike-like structures appeared beside its face, making it look as though it were wearing a masquerade mask.
As he looked at Gardevoir, seemingly dressed in a long gown and displaying a calm, empress-like aura, Terrance immediately grasped its current strength through Fairy Mark’s Telepathy.
During Gardevoir’s evolution, a stream of blue and purple Confusion waves hidden within its body was broken down, further strengthening its psychic power. It was precisely because of this power that Gardevoir was able to rapidly absorb the power of the Genetic Potion.
Among Terrance’s Pokémon, it was the first to completely absorb the potion’s effects.“So there really is some remnant of Mew and Mewtwo’s power left behind. This force actually resurfaced along with the power of evolution, and even helped Gardevoir absorb the effects of the Genetic Potion…”
“To already possess psychic power no weaker than Gardevoir’s back in the Ralts stage, and now after reaching its final evolution…”
Sensing that vast ocean of mental energy, Terrance’s heart was filled with excitement, yet also a flicker of understanding.
After evolving, Gardevoir directly stepped into the top-tier level, possessing strength on par with the main Pokémon of Top Trainers!
“Garde~voir!”
On the field, Gardevoir did not turn its head, nor did it talk to Terrance via Telepathy. Instead, it used spoken language to remind him.
“I’ll leave the rest of the battle to you.”
Understanding Gardevoir’s intent, Terrance nodded. At the same time, he was surprised. This was the first time Gardevoir had proactively conveyed information to him through speech.
“Something may have changed… within Gardevoir.”
As Terrance was thinking, his opponent Tonpa’s laughter snapped him back to attention.
“Amazing. I was feeling smug about winning the Ever Grande Conference, but I never expected that right after entering the Champion League, I’d run into such a powerful Trainer.” Tonpa recalled his Houndoom and sent out a new Pokémon.
“Next, it’s up to you, Gengar!”
“You’re not bad either,” Terrance replied simply, beginning to give commands to Gardevoir.
In the very next instant, Gengar, wearing a sinister and terrifying grin, rushed forward like a phantom, its form flickering between real and unreal.
“Dodge.”
Sensing Gardevoir’s intent, Terrance spoke softly. In the next moment, Gardevoir sidestepped, causing the terrifying phantom-like Gengar to lunge at empty air.
“Shadow Ball!”
Tonpa shouted, and Gengar abruptly halted its body. Its hands condensed a Shadow Ball, which it smashed toward the nearby Gardevoir almost the instant it turned around its head.
“Neutralize it,” Terrance said.
On the rostrum, Phoebe looked in surprise at Gardevoir effortlessly erasing the power of the Shadow Ball and said, “This rookie is really unlucky to run into such a terrifying opponent. That Gardevoir has just evolved, yet the power of its Confusion is nearly ten times what it was before. This Pokémon can already be said to be extraordinarily gifted.”
“Indeed. Pokémon with talent like this, I’ve only seen two,” Glacia said, her gaze flickering. To possess top-tier combat power the moment it evolves—simply monstrous.
At Ever Grande Stadium, the two Pokémon battled without pause, as a fierce offensive–defensive exchange unfolded between Gardevoir and Gengar.
It looked intense, but anyone could tell that Gardevoir was at ease. No matter how ferociously Gengar attacked, Gardevoir remained unscathed.
“Having just gained such immense power, even with Gardevoir’s exceptional computational ability, it still needs some time to adapt,” Terrance said as he waved his hand. Gardevoir teleported behind Gengar and toyed with it using its newfound strength.
If it were an ordinary Pokémon, suddenly gaining such power—even through evolution—it likely wouldn’t be able to wield it well. But as a Contest Master, Terrance had always deliberately trained his Pokémon’s coordination, so their ability to control power actually surpassed their raw strength.
Gardevoir’s coordination was solid, and coupled with its innate computational talent, quickly mastering this power was no difficult task.
As the two Pokémon clashed, Gengar ultimately failed to escape exhaustion and collapsed powerlessly.
“Come back, Gengar. Typhlosion, you’re up.”
With Gengar down, Tonpa’s expression grew grave. He could naturally tell that Gardevoir was using his Pokémon to gradually adapt to its newly acquired power, but he was powerless to stop it. This Gardevoir was simply too strong. Compared to its Kirlia stage, it now emanated a formidable mental pressure that nearly left both Trainer and Pokémon gasping for breath.
Gardevoir and his Pokémon existed on entirely different planes.
“That’s precisely the manifestation of being unable to fully control one’s power,” Steven said from the rostrum, recalling how the same thing had happened when his Shiny Metagross evolved. Its strength had increased so dramatically that Metagross couldn’t properly control its new power; it took three full days of training together to resolve it.
“Mr. Terrance, although you and Gardevoir are formidable, it’s time for us to launch our counterattack!”
Typhlosion’s appearance reignited Tonpa’s fighting spirit. In the next instant, Typhlosion’s expression turned extremely fierce. It rubbed its blazing fur together, whipping up explosive shockwaves that swept across the entire field.
Scorching flames erupted, even producing mirages. Typhlosion concealed its form within the sea of flames, erasing its presence. But the situation didn’t last long—a Psyshock transformed into a spear, pierced straight through the sea of flames, and struck Typhlosion squarely in the abdomen.
“Roar…” Both Typhlosion and Tonpa’s eyes widened, staring in disbelief at the scene, utterly unable to comprehend how the Psyshock had so effortlessly pierced the raging flames.
