Chapter 127: Hundred Eyed Burial Crows
Chapter 127: Hundred Eyed Burial Crows
Han Yuexin was more accommodating than Ye Jun expected. He thought she would drop him in a random location after ditching the ambushes, but she actually took him across the journey to Beacon of Guang.
As they were flying over the open canopy forests, Ye Jun focused ahead and narrowed his eyes. "Is that the Beacon of Guang?"
"Yes," Han Yuexin nodded, her voice low and respectful. "My grandfather had saved some disciples stuck here once, so later he built this. It’s a safe zone in the Wildlands."
A towering structure stood before them, made entirely of peach-colored stones. Ye Jun stared at it and thought, ’Didn’t think this world would have a lighthouse.’
It really looked like a lighthouse and, considering its function, it wasn’t far from the truth. It did show light to disciples stuck here, so that they could make their way here if they were in danger or lost directions.
It also symbolized the Pavilion’s control over these lands.
The Falcon screeched and landed on the Beacon’s base. There was a huge clearing around it, meant to provide a safe place for the disciples.
They got off and bowed in respect for her grandfather, the former Pavilion Master. Then, Ye Jun watched as Han Yuexin went towards the door.
"I came here to refill the rations," Han Yuexin said, as if reading his thoughts. "If you need help later, you can come here. No one except for White Gale Pavilion people is allowed here."
"Understood!" Ye Jun said, then clasped his hands before him. "Then, I’ll leave for my mission. Thanks for everything, Elder Han. I’ll repay it in the future."
"Just get going," she waved her hand without looking back. "Come back in one piece, though."
Ye Jun smiled and turned around.
All he saw around him were tall trees with thin trunks reaching very high. They had diamond-shaped purple leaves, making the contrast eye-pleasing.
He remembered the instructions from the mission and began to walk towards Greywood Village.
’Should I hunt first or check the village?’
After some consideration, he decided to advance to the Eighth-Stage Qi Condensation Realm first. He had no clue what he would find in the village, so it was better to increase his strength.
Even though the mission seemed very simple, he didn’t trust his luck, not after what Han Yuexin had told him about the village and its neighbors.
’Nothing might go wrong, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.’
It was still noon, so he had plenty of time.
’The sect expects me to take a month or two for it anyway.’
Shaking his head, he made some scratches on the trees and used Ashen Phantom Steps to move forward. After months of struggle, he had leveled it up to Level 03, so its usage was much more marvelous.
He didn’t leave behind any sound or traces, not even footprints. With precise control and some tweaking using his professional knowledge, he had managed to derive a stealth-based technique from the same Mysterious Technique.
That was the power of his system and his experience.
As he was moving upwards the hill silently, he sensed hundreds of gazes on him suddenly, making his hair straighten in alert. He immediately looked up and cursed.
’A Hundred-Eyed Burial Crow.’
Ye Jun quickly ducked behind a boulder, stabilizing his breathing. ’Got a dangerous one on the first try, huh.’
Hundred-Eyed Burial Crow, a pitch-black colored bird looking like a crow, except it was the size of a human with a hundred creepy eyes hidden in its wings.
Two of them were flying over his head, trying to assess the situation first. Both were Middle-Grade Tier 2 Spiritual Beasts.
’Their specialty is their eyes,’ Ye Jun remembered what he had read in the books. ’The hundred eyes can follow Qi patterns, and they’re intelligent enough to make use of that.’
He heard a cry spreading throughout the region as he cursed, "Motherfucker! Why are you calling your relatives?"
He needed to deal with them quickly before more of them arrived. There was no way he could survive if tens of these creepy crows locked onto him.
"I’m a rare feast in your eyes, huh," Ye Jun grinned and jumped out of his spot. "Let’s see who becomes whose feast."
Without wasting any time, he ran sideways and ascended the tree in quick jumps. His speed was incredibly fast, so the crows could barely react to his ascent.
The Hundred-Eyed Burial Crows flapped their wings as all the eyes locked onto him, making him feel as if they could see through everything.
He joined both of his hands together and folded the index finger, two words escaping his mouth, "Fire Arrow."
Densely packed flames formed before him, quickly changing shapes and turning into an arrow. In just a second, the fire arrow formed in his hand, as flames danced around his arms.
He predicted the crows’ movement and fired the arrow. It left behind crimson trails, reaching the Spiritual Beasts much faster than even real arrows.
Surprisingly, the Hundred-Eyed Burial Crows flapped their wings once more, easily deflecting the arrow as it struck a distant boulder and exploded, sending chunks of rubble into the air.
They flew higher, as the eyes remained locked on him.
"You really can recognize the pattern," Ye Jun smiled and said. "Then try to understand this."
He pulled his hands back a bit and muttered, "Volley of Fire Arrows."
A fire arrow formed in his hand that he shot at the Hundred-Eyed Burial Crows. As they dodged, he sent another one. Before long, he was sending fire arrows rapidly like a machine.
Every second, he formed three fire arrows and shot the birds with them. Their eyes analyzed the Qi patterns behind the arrows and were able to dodge them.
Unfortunately for them, Ye Jun overwhelmed them with his ridiculous mastery in the Dao of Fire. After spending so long in the Fire Hall, he could now control the flames as his second arm.
At first, the Hundred-Eyed Burial Crows tried to deal with them, but it was simply too much even for them, so they changed strategies and rushed at him.
"Finally! Come at me, chickens."
