Chapter 126: Han Yuexin
Chapter 126: Han Yuexin
Once Ye Jun decided upon the mission, he went to register that he had taken the mission. The disciple handling the accounts did look at him weirdly, but said nothing.
Clearly, he didn’t expect anyone to actually take this mission.
’It’s understandable. Even I wouldn’t go there if I didn’t have to farm.’
After that, he didn’t directly leave the sect. It would be stupid considering many people were eyeing him, so he would definitely be ambushed the moment he set foot outside.
The Pavilion could only monitor the sect’s inside.
He had no intentions of throwing himself to death, so he devised a different plan. One that would lead him out of the sect safely without giving away his location.
’Heh, I’m sure they know by now that I’m leaving. Make preparations, buddies. All of them will be wasted.’
Smiling to himself, he made his way to the centremost peak, the mountain on which the Pavilion Master resided. It was also the home for other Elders.
Getting past the guards was easy because he had a certain item that he never returned to its owner. Now was a good time to do that.
He stopped before a small stone structure built on a cliff’s top, overlooking the depths. A vast clearing filled with soft, cyan-blue grass surrounded it.
In one corner, Han Yuexin sat with her eyes closed, so he slowly approached her and waited. With her cultivation, he was sure she had noticed him already.
After a few minutes, her eyes opened as she faced him. "Welcome. To what do I owe this pleasure of meeting the infamous Suicide Challenger?"
Ye Jun was going to politely greet her, but after hearing her words, he rolled his eyes. "I didn’t think we were on such good terms."
"You’re saying this after hoarding my jade stone for months?" Han Yuexin asked, raising an eyebrow.
Ye Jun coughed. "So, you remembered."
"It’s an important part of my status," she stood up, letting the robes fall down properly. "So, what brought you here?"
"I actually came to return this," Ye Jun smiled and took out the jade stone.
"Get to the point," Han Yuexin said, snatching the jade stone. "Did someone finally snap and decide to kill you?"
"Not yet," Ye Jun put on a friendly smile and said. "But I’ll be dead by tomorrow if you don’t help me."
Han Yuexin smirked, as if she had already expected it. "Continue."
Ye Jun explained to her about his plan and sighed. "If you don’t help me, your sect will lose a genius like me. What a great loss you’ll suffer all because you didn’t help me."
"Cheeky brat, don’t play that game with me." Han Yuexin pulled his cheeks and said. "You’re the one who made all those enemies, so why should the sect care about your safety now?"
"I told you, because I’m very handsome and a genius," Ye Jun said, escaping her clutches.
Han Yuexin was going to pull his cheeks again, but stopped. She rubbed her chin thoughtfully and said, "Alright. I’ll help you because you’re handsome."
Ye Jun almost stumbled forward hearing that. What the hell!?
Han Yuexin chuckled. "Look at your face, so funny. I’m leaving the sect for something, so I’ll drop you on the way."
Ye Jun’s eyes brightened up as he nodded.
"Good, so jump from this cliff," Han Yuexin said, her voice fully serious.
"Huh?" Ye Jun blinked, then pointed at the cliff. "I didn’t choose the Suicide Challenger name, if you’re misunderstanding something."
"If you can’t even jump from here, then the sect has no need of you," Han Yuexin shrugged. "So the choice is yours."
Ye Jun clenched his fists before releasing them. ’Why do I always get paired up with weirdos? Why is an elder poking fun at me?’
Shaking his head, he turned towards the cliff and with a quick few steps, he reached the edge and jumped without any shred of hesitation.
The land vanished right before his eyes, turning into the vast depths of the sky. Winds began picking up around him, slapping his face with great intensity as he tried to look below him.
Before he could react, he saw a silhouette moving through the clouds at an incredible speed. It appeared before him in an instant and scooped him out of the air.
He hit the rock-hard back of the Tempest Crown Falcon and rolled over, almost slipping back into the abyss. He hurriedly grabbed its feathers and pulled himself up.
There, he found Han Yuexin standing with a massive grin on her face. "You crazy bastard! You didn’t even flinch."
Ye Jun gasped for breath and said, "I told you... I’m handsome and a genius... you won’t let me die."
"And you’re delusional too," Han Yuexin shook her head and pulled him into a better position. "So, where do you want to go?"
"Greywood Village," he replied, sitting down lest the wind throw him off. There wasn’t any saddle this time.
"Oh, that one?" Han Yuexin recognized it immediately. "It’s not common for a settlement to rebel, but it isn’t rare either. Elder Wen was grumbling about it the last time I met him."
Ye Jun took note of that and asked, "Is there anything you can tell me about it? The more information I have, the better my chances of success."
"Nothing much," Han Yuexin shook her head and said. "It’s just a small village in our borders. We took it under us because it’s surrounded by the Black Wind Wildlands. We occasionally send people to clean the Spiritual Beasts around it so that the villagers can live peacefully."
In return for this, the village was supposed to pay monthly tribute. That was how the sect functioned. It made sure of people’s safety, and in return, they paid them so the sect ran well.
"Though I do remember something," Han Yuexin added after thinking for a bit. "Not far from it, our border ends, and beyond that lies the area controlled by the Seven-Faced Sect, an unorthodox demonic sect."
She gave a side glance to him and said, "Be careful of them. They are much weaker than our sect, but still enough to deal with you."
