Chapter 440 401: Rather I Wrong the World, Than Let the World Wrong Me

Chapter 440 401: Rather I Wrong the World, Than Let the World Wrong Me

It all happened in a flash. Zhao Rong leaped down from the sky. The moment he landed, he shouted to Lili, "Lili, don't be afraid! I'm here!"

As Lili was running for her life, she saw Zhao Rong and immediately ran toward him. Just as she was about to reach him, something unexpected happened. A huge mountain suddenly materialized between them, blocking their path.

When Zhao Rong saw it, he exclaimed in fright, "Damn it! How did a mountain suddenly appear out of nowhere?"

Meanwhile, the Rainy Night Killer was closing in on Lili from behind. Just as his scythe was about to come down on her head, the mountain vanished as suddenly as it had appeared.

Seeing his chance, Zhao Rong gripped his Damo Sword and charged toward the Rainy Night Killer.

Standing not far away, Xuelian reminded her, "Lili, you're dreaming right now! You have to control your thoughts in the dreamscape, or it will be very difficult for Brother Zhao Rong to save you!"

Just as the Rainy Night Killer's scythe swung down at Lili, Zhao Rong's Damo Sword shot out to block it. The two weapons clashed, sending sparks flying. With a powerful kick, Zhao Rong slammed his foot into the Rainy Night Killer's stomach, knocking him to the ground.

The felled killer looked up at Zhao Rong and spoke in a robotic voice, "Could you be the legendary Zhao Rong?"

Zhao Rong nodded, his eyes fixed on the man on the ground. "Rainy Night Killer, you depraved and vicious criminal! Surrender now and release the students you've imprisoned!"

Hearing this, the Rainy Night Killer let out a cold sneer. "This world owes me far too much. I'd rather betray the world than let the world betray me."

With that, he stood up, raised his scythe, and charged at Zhao Rong. Wielding his Damo Sword, Zhao Rong met the attack head-on. As their weapons collided, he found they were equally matched. To his surprise, the Rainy Night Killer's scythe was no ordinary tool. It had been forged from meteorites over forty-nine days in the Demon Beast Mountain Range.

When the Rainy Night Killer saw that his own weapon had failed to cut through Zhao Rong's sword, his eyes widened in shock. "Where did you get that sword?"

Zhao Rong responded with a spinning kick that sent the killer to the ground once more. "This Damo Sword?" he sneered. "It also came from the Demon Beast Mountain Range."

As the Rainy Night Killer climbed to his feet, he muttered, "No wonder my scythe couldn't break your sword. So they both came from the same place..."

At that moment, Lili walked over. "Brother Zhao Rong, do you want me to help you capture him?"

Zhao Rong glanced at her and explained, "Lili, we are inside your dream. Everything here, except for me, you, Xuelian, and the Rainy Night Killer, is a product of your imagination. If you want to help, imagine a pair of handcuffs and leg shackles. Bind his hands and feet with them so he can't escape."

Hearing this, Lili immediately conjured a pair of handcuffs and shackles in her mind, which instantly clamped onto the Rainy Night Killer. As he found himself bound, he struggled and cried out, "Lili, I cast a spell on you! How can you still control your own dream?"

In response, Lili laughed and pulled a device from her pocket. It was a Dream Interferer she had bought online.

The Rainy Night Killer stared at it in disbelief. "You think that piece of junk you bought online is more powerful than my spells and incantations?"

"If you don't believe me, you can try," Lili said confidently. She used the Dream Interferer to imagine a set of iron chains, which wrapped themselves tightly around the killer, immobilizing him completely.

The Rainy Night Killer began chanting spells and incantations, trying desperately to break free from the handcuffs, shackles, and chains. But to his astonishment, no matter what he tried, the restraints held fast.

When Lili saw that his magic was no match for the Dream Interferer she bought online, she laughed heartily. "You might as well surrender, Rainy Night Killer! No matter how powerful your spells are, they're no match for modern technology!"

Seeing that the Rainy Night Killer was tied up and helpless, Zhao Rong raised his Damo Sword and rushed forward. But before he could reach him, the killer let out another cold laugh.

"Although my magic is no match for that so-called Dream Interferer of yours, I can still come and go as I please in your dream."

As he spoke, he squeezed his eyes shut and vanished from Lili's dreamscape. When Zhao Rong saw that the securely bound killer had disappeared without a trace, he turned to Lili in confusion. "That's strange. Where did he go?"

Lili sighed. "He escaped from my dream."

"Since the Rainy Night Killer has fled," Xuelian said, "we should leave the dream too."

Zhao Rong nodded. "Right. Let's get out of here, find that earthen cave where he's hiding in the grove, and bring him to justice."

With that, Lili used the Dream Interferer to guide Zhao Rong and Xuelian out of her dream. When the three of them reappeared inside the Magic Ring, they all let out a sigh before jumping out, one by one, to stand on the ground.

As Zhao Rong, Lili, and Xuelian appeared before the assistant and Yu Lan, the two women cried out happily, "Brother Zhao Rong, we've been waiting for so long! You're finally out!"

Zhao Rong estimated the time that had passed. "How long were you two waiting for us? Ten minutes?"

Hearing this, the assistant held up her watch for him to see. "Brother Zhao Rong, it was 8 a.m. when we left the dormitory. Look, it's already 12 noon!"

When Zhao Rong realized that four hours had passed in what felt like a short while, he said in disbelief, "Holy crap! How does time fly so fast in a dream?"

Lili, feeling surprisingly refreshed, added, "No wonder I don't feel sleepy anymore. It turns out I've already slept for four hours."

Xuelian, however, was still thinking about the dream. "Sister Lili, even though we share a dorm, I never knew you had such a vivid imagination. In your dream, I saw giant monsters, strange mountains, the bottomless Great Rift Valley, terrifying ghosts, and all kinds of gruesome instruments of torture."

But to everyone's surprise, Lili couldn't remember her dream at all. In fact, she felt as though she hadn't dreamt of anything.

Seeing this, Zhao Rong turned to Xuelian. "Xuelian, you're in charge of the Dream Interferer. Monitor Lili's dreams at all times. If the Rainy Night Killer appears or if her life is in any danger, call me immediately and bring me into her dream. It's the only way we can guarantee her safety."

When Lili heard how terrifying her dreams were and that she could have died, she said in fear, "No way! If my dreams are that horrible, I'd rather stay awake twenty-four hours a day!"

Zhao Rong stepped forward and patted her shoulder reassuringly. "It's alright, Lili. Just relax and sleep. With me and Xuelian here to protect you, you have nothing to worry about."

Lili looked at Zhao Rong's determined expression and then at the attentive Xuelian beside him. She instantly felt at ease. "Brother Zhao Rong, Xuelian, with the two of you—the core members of the team—here, I have nothing to fear."

Once he was sure Lili was safe, Zhao Rong addressed the whole group. "Alright, let's head into the grove now and find the cave where the Rainy Night Killer is hiding."

Just as he was about to lead them into the grove, he suddenly remembered the fierce beasts he had released there earlier. He couldn't help but sigh. "Crap. If we go into the grove, we're bound to run into those beasts."

While Zhao Rong was fretting over how to move through the woods safely, the assistant had a sudden idea. "Brother Zhao Rong, why don't you buy an Invisibility Cloak online? If we each wear one, we can walk through the grove without attracting the beasts' attention."

The assistant's suggestion was a flash of inspiration for Zhao Rong. He immediately took out his phone, opened the Paradise Shopping Cart app, and typed "Invisibility Cloak" into the search bar.
