Chapter 601 - 593: Showing Off Back Home (Part 1)

"Mr. Ji is of Chinese nationality." Korea frowned and spoke softly in reproach to her mother, who was losing composure before Ji Chicheng, "Mommy, what’s wrong with you?"

"Oh." Rudy Finn nodded, her expression unreadable, neither seeming lost nor reminiscing.

Ji Chicheng didn’t respond, gave a slight nod, then stepped forward, opened the driver’s side door, and got into the car.

He started the car and drove off into the distance.

"Mommy, do you know Mr. Ji?"

The car had driven far away, almost out of sight, yet her mother’s gaze remained fixed in that direction. Korea asked her impatiently, frowning.

Rudy Finn nodded, murmuring to herself, "He resembles someone from Mommy’s past so much."

...

"I don’t like that Korea."

The car had been driving for a while when Anning suddenly spoke up, catching even Ji Chicheng, who was usually very observant, by surprise with her abrupt voice.

He glanced at Anning through the rearview mirror.

Her eyes narrowed, head resting on Fenfen’s car seat, lips pouted in displeasure.

Ji Chicheng asked, "Why do you dislike Korea?"

Though he had a good idea of the answer.

"Don’t think I can’t see it, she wants to be Fenfen’s stepmom." Anning huffed and then extended a hand, flailing it in the air while she cursed, "She’s such a scheming bitch, a fake white lotus, acting the same way to Fenfen and me in front of my uncle, and differently when he’s not around."

It was the first time he had ever heard Anning curse.

Her voice was crisp with a hint of spunk, clearly in a foul mood.

Ji Chicheng’s gaze returned to Anning through the rearview mirror, a smile playing on his lips.

Anning continued pouting, "If my uncle really marries her, I absolutely won’t let Fenfen stay with my uncle."

Her determination was clear, firm in her stance and attitude.

She wouldn’t allow it, if he married another woman, she surely wouldn’t give Fenfen to her.

After her rant, Anning reaffirmed this in her mind.

Ji Chicheng frowned at her high emotions and turned to look at her, "Then what do you want?"

"I don’t want anything; I also don’t know what I want." Anning suddenly sat up straight, her head leaning back against the seat, murmuring in agony, "I don’t know what else I can do."

Her eyes were starting to moisten again.

In fact, she was still somewhat lucid, but she didn’t want to be sober, she preferred to stay drunk.

When drunk, she could act spoiled, show emotions she didn’t have the courage to express when sober.

"Then just don’t think about it."

Ji Chicheng responded nonchalantly to Anning, turned back, and reached out to turn on the CD player.

A soothing piece of music began to play in the car.

Anning leaned sideways and rested her head against the window, opening her blurry, intoxicated eyes to the outside world.

She had always tried to maintain a semi-drunk state, but struggled against the gradually increasing strength of the alcohol.

She didn’t know how she got through the door, how she went upstairs, how she got into bed.

Even less did she know who changed her clothes...

She could no longer remember how many times it had been, always waking up after falling asleep unconsciously to find her clothes changed.

Anning sat up in bed, her head feeling heavy, the curtains drawn tight, and no light peeking through, it surely wasn’t daytime.
