Chapter 579 - 571 His Warmth (Part 4)
Hands clasped tightly, she finally went to open the door, and the tall figure quickly dashed out.
Seeing the door opened and then shut again, Ji Anning’s mouth corners sank with disappointment.
"Sigh."
She really had no limits now, daring to harbor such fantasies about him despite their familial relationship.
Ji Anning, you really are... incurable.
...
Yesterday, she had promised Fenfen to make a loving breakfast, so Ji Anning got up early the next day.
She busied herself in the kitchen all morning.
"Whoa, Ji Anning, did you make breakfast by hand?"
Just as Ji Anning had placed the breakfasts on the table, Ji Mingyue arrived, stretching lazily as she walked. Seeing Ji Anning in an apron, she burst into surprised laughter.
Her gaze eagerly shifted to Ji Anning’s handiwork, glancing over the four breakfasts on the table—three identical ones and one different for Fenfen.
"Hey, don’t mind the taste just yet, but it sure looks the part."
Ji Mingyue generously complimented Ji Anning, then sat in her usual spot and picked up a fork and knife, smiling at Ji Anning, "Let me taste how it is first."
As she spoke, she began to eat.
"Miss Ji, this is what Miss Anning has been busy making all morning."
"Hmm, how diligent," Ji Mingyue, after tasting a sandwich, sang praises for Ji Anning nonstop, "Truly, a woman who has a child is different. You used to be so clumsy and useless, and now you can actually hold your own in the parlor and in the kitchen."
She took a sip of milk and continued eating, speaking as she ate, "That’s why it’s so important for a woman to find the right man. Our number five is a shining light, and everyone around him shines too."
Ji Anning: "..."
Sure enough, an elder sister always knows how to credit her younger brother.
After a few bites, Ji Mingyue added, "That’s why the old man always urges me to find someone to marry, keeps setting me up on blind dates, finding me all the crooked melons and cracked dates. Of course, I can’t accept them."
She could go on talked endlessly about this, but Ji Anning was already used to it.
She took off her apron and said to the still chattering Ji Mingyue, "I’m heading upstairs to wash Fenfen and bring her down for breakfast."
"Mommy."
Just as Ji Anning was turning to leave, Ji Chicheng had already arrived in the dining area carrying Fenfen.
Seeing them, she smiled and said, "Here you are, Mommy was just about to go upstairs to pick you up. Did you wash your face?"
"Washed, Daddy washed it," Fenfen touched her face, indicating it was clean.
Ji Anning smiled, "Good, let’s have breakfast then."
As she spoke, she reached out her hands and took Fenfen from Ji Chicheng’s arms.
Ji Chicheng watched the breakfast on the table, his eyes narrowed slightly, and his face darkened, as if thinking about something.
Ji Anning noticed his subtly changing expression, feeling a bit puzzled and scared, "I promised Fenfen yesterday that I would make her breakfast, so I didn’t ask the auntie to do it today. If you don’t like the taste later, have the auntie make something else."
He must have thought her cooking wasn’t tasty, or maybe he simply didn’t want to eat what she made.
Thinking this, she lowered her head, pouting unhappily and holding Fenfen as they went to their seats.
Ji Chicheng followed suit and sat down, looking at the breakfast in front of him. He then picked up a fork and knife, cut a small piece of sandwich, and chewed a bit.
Across the table, Ji Mingyue suddenly said to him, "The taste is not bad."
