Chapter 566 - 558: Facing Charles Head-On (Part Two)
Was it really her credit? Anning guessed, her gaze inadvertently sweeping over Charles next to Ming Yue, whose handsome, mature face bore a subtly amusing smile.
Anning instantly understood, pursed her lips, and shot Ming Yue a speechless look.
Back at the Ji Family household, it was always they who disdained her for embarrassing the family; now she felt that going out with her was the true disgrace.
No sooner had they entered than a beautiful waitress approached to lead them to a private room.
The dishes had all been ordered by Ming Yue, who had practically gone through the entire menu. Anning chose to ignore her childish behavior and sat to the side, holding Fenfen and playing mobile games.
After a while, the waitress came over to ask if they were ready for the dishes to be served.
"Wait a little longer," Charles replied to the waitress, then looked at Anning and Ming Yue, "Since both of you are here, I took the liberty of inviting the little handsome guy too."
The little handsome guy?
Anning and Ming Yue both expressed confusion at the term "little handsome guy", and Charles laughed and explained, "Fenfen’s daddy."
What?
Anning stared wide-eyed, "Mr. Charles, when did you call him?"
She had asked, but before Charles could respond, the door to the private room suddenly opened, and a man with a chilly demeanor walked in, his presence so icy it made Anning apprehensive.
She watched nervously as Chicheng approached her side.
"Uncle."
She called out, but Chicheng didn’t respond; instead, he stood by her side as the waitress immediately came to pull out his chair, and he sat down.
Fenfen, sitting in Anning’s lap, began to abandon her mobile game and climbed onto Chicheng, "Daddy... Daddy..."
Chicheng stretched out his hand and picked her up.
The little girl stood on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck and lavishing his face with kisses, endearingly affectionate.
Watching this scene, Charles across the table smiled with profound amusement.
Anning glanced over, her heart skipping a beat, and quickly spoke up to divert his attention, "The dishes can be served now."
Charles nodded and gave the waitress a meaningful look.
The dishes arrived one after the other at a steady pace.
"Little handsome guy, let’s have a couple of drinks," Charles raised his glass to Chicheng.
He was always smiling gently towards Chicheng, his deep blue eyes never really engaging with Chicheng’s handsome face, but Chicheng’s gaze towards him was one of enmity.
He didn’t want to have anything to do with him, let alone drink with him.
"Could it be that you can’t hold your liquor?" Charles, holding his glass, rested his elbow on the table and smirked condescendingly at Chicheng before adding solemnly, "However, it’s true that these days young people have such poor habits that their health is generally worse than that of the elderly."
This clearly low-level provocation was something even Anning disdained, but Chicheng, seemingly provoked, picked up his glass and sneered at Charles, "Mr. Charles, your intelligence is truly limited."
With that, he tilted his head back and downed the drink in one gulp.
Charles followed and emptied his glass as well.
"Good, Chicheng, keep him company," Ming Yue said as the tension thickened in the room. Anning was trying to defuse the situation, but was blindsided by another who came to fan the flames.
Ming Yue was on the side cheering for Chicheng, encouraging him to out-drink Charles.
Anning held her forehead in frustration; she had never seen such behavior from a sister.
This was also the first time she had seen Chicheng act so irrationally. He always had an aloof attitude, not caring what others thought or said about him – a proud demeanor that seemed to only regard the sky.
