She made her way to the clinic, where several people were waiting outside Dr. Chisen’s office. Dr. Chisen’s assistant recognized Ji Anning and told her that Dr. Chisen had gone to the emergency room to perform surgery on the student who had caused trouble earlier, and that she should return to her ward and wait.

Since surgery was unpredictable in duration, Ji Anning had no choice but to return sulkily.

"It has nothing to do with me at all; why should I care about them?"

As she passed by the emergency room entrance again, the group of youngsters was no longer there, and it was peaceful. Ji Anning rested one arm on the wheelchair armrest, lightly stroking her forehead with the back of her hand, and let out an inadvertent sigh.

Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice.

"Now they’re insisting it has something to do with you; what are you going to do?"

Startled, she looked up to find herself in front of the inpatient building, and a familiar figure appeared before her eyes, leaving her with her mouth open in surprise.

Having not seen each other for over two years, Yang Danning had cut her hair short. She was wearing a pair of maroon pencil pants and a black leather jacket on her upper body, with light makeup on.

Her temper was still as hot-headed as ever, but she seemed not as lively as before, as if she had aged a bit, and appeared thinner.

She was in the middle of a heated argument with a middle-aged Chinese man as they walked along.

"Alright, don’t come here for now. Let’s wait and see what the school and the Beck police say."

"Pah!" Yang Danning refused to accept the middle-aged man’s words, angrily retorting, "I just won’t... "

Her words were cut off abruptly, and her expression froze for a moment. She slowly turned her head, surprised to see Ji Anning.

Ji Anning had been staring at her for quite a while, her surprise had faded significantly. Seeing Yang Danning looking back, she smiled slightly, "Danning, long time no see."

In her heart, she had always regarded Yang Danning as a good friend. No matter what, the friendship they had for more than a decade shouldn’t turn hostile upon this unexpected meeting abroad.

Yang Danning’s words dripped with sarcasm. The heels of her shoes clicked ’clack clack’ on the ground.

She took her time walking up to Ji Anning, stopping in front of her, and looked down at her with a mocking smile curling the edges of her mouth.

Indeed, she had been too naive!

Ji Anning smiled at herself wryly inside and looked up with a smile, speaking to Yang Danning, "What’s the point of making fun of me?"

Yang Danning crossed her arms over her chest, "I’m not joking. After dumping Ji Chicheng, you hooked up with some mysterious older man, got caught up in rumors with Qi Helian non-stop, and just a few days ago with that... what was his name again...?"

She deliberately tapped her temple with one finger, pretending to think, then continued, "Right, Beck, the head director of Fashion."

Ji Anning no longer wanted to listen. In her heart, she truly treasured her more than ten years of friendship with Yang Danning. Even if she no longer trusted Danning, even if there were no longer any interactions, she didn’t want to tear their relationship to shreds.

She opened her mouth to say goodbye, but Yang Danning’s voice preempted her.
