Chapter 532 - 524 Jealousy (Part 3)
She lay down, covered herself with the blanket, and closed her eyes, quickly dozing off.
...
"Daddy."
In his sleep, Ji Chicheng faintly felt something moving on his face. He twitched his eyelids and Fenfen’s muffled voice suddenly arose by his ear.
He opened his eyes and saw the messy-haired little girl. Lazily smiling, he stretched out his arms, scooped up the little girl’s small body, lifted her onto the bed, tucked her into the blankets, and then his long arms indulgently enveloped her tightly.
Smelling the milky scent on her, especially beautiful.
"Mommy..." Fenfen suddenly pouted with a look of loss.
Ji Chicheng raised his head cautiously and asked Fenfen, "What’s wrong?"
"Mommy... looking..."
As the little girl spoke, she blinked, her eyes starting to redden.
Ji Chicheng’s eyebrows furrowed, a flash of cold light in his eyes. He let go of Fenfen, flung off the blankets, got out of bed, and strode out of the room, barefoot.
The door of the opposite room was open; he walked straight in, but Ji Anning was nowhere to be found, not on the bed or in the bathroom.
His face turned an iron blue, and he then ran to the staircase, glanced down, and saw no one in the living room.
He descended the stairs, his steps heavy, filled with anger.
The maid suddenly appeared from the dining room and quietly reminded Ji Chicheng, "Mr. Ji, Miss Anning is sleeping; please keep it down."
As she spoke, she pointed toward the sofa.
Upon hearing this, Ji Chicheng paused. His gaze then turned toward the sofa, and indeed, there was someone lying there covered with a blanket, curled up.
The fury inside him suddenly extinguished.
He raised a hand to steady himself on the stair-railing, looking at the sleeping Ji Anning on the sofa; his expression softened for a moment, then returned to coldness.
Hating and annoyed, what was he doing? Why was he so anxious?
"Mr. Ji, breakfast is ready."
The maid’s voice echoed again from the bottom of the stairs.
Ji Chicheng’s thoughts were interrupted, and he turned back upstairs.
"Daddy."
Fenfen had come out of the room, also barefoot, her pajama pants unevenly rolled up, disheveled.
Ji Chicheng quickened his pace and scooped her up.
"Mommy!" Fenfen pouted, her eyes brimming with tears as she looked at Ji Chicheng.
Ji Chicheng stretched out his hand, slightly smiling as he pinched the little girl’s cheek, "She’s downstairs."
Upon hearing this, the little girl immediately beamed with joy.
Ji Chicheng also smiled, although his eyes still held a trace of coldness.
Back in the room, after taking a bath and getting dressed neatly, he carried Fenfen downstairs.
Descending a few steps, Ji Chicheng glanced toward the sofa; the person who had been lying there was now gone, and he coldly withdrew his gaze.
Once downstairs, he headed straight for the dining room.
"The milk is just the right temperature, no need to heat it."
Upon entering, Ji Chicheng immediately saw Ji Anning in her pajamas, her long hair cascading down her chest as she bent down.
She was arranging the cutlery while discussing the temperature of the milk with the maid.
"Mommy!"
Fenfen saw her and happily called out.
Ji Anning looked up, turned around, and upon seeing the father and daughter, her face’s unrestrained joyful smile tightened a bit.
Then she focused on Fenfen alone, her smile returning, "Fenfen, come and have breakfast."
She dared not let her gaze stray to Ji Chicheng’s face, to avoid his cold, sinister black eyes.
She deliberately avoided it.
Ji Chicheng’s expression grew colder, and bending down, he placed Fenfen on the ground. He looked at Ji Anning and coldly snorted, "You better remember what I told you when you came in."
With that, he turned and left without looking back.
