Chapter 529 - 521: Awkward Living Together (Nine)
The living room lights were on, but all the rooms upstairs were pitch dark. Ji Anning, holding Fenfen, stood anxiously outside the yard gate.
She didn’t know what kind of punishment Ji Chicheng would give her for coming back so late.
After gathering her thoughts, she finally stepped forward, walked into the house with Fenfen in one arm and her suitcase in the other.
"Miss Anning is back," the servant greeted her as soon as she entered.
Ji Anning nodded slightly and handed her suitcase to the servant. Ji Chicheng wasn’t in the living room, so she glanced towards the dining room.
The servant, noticing what she was looking for, smiled and said, "Mr. Ji hasn’t come back yet."
Upon hearing this, Ji Anning breathed a sigh of relief.
After bathing Fenfen and coaxing her to sleep, she saw it was already ten o’clock. She went to the living room to check, and Ji Chicheng still hadn’t returned.
She was still getting over a cold, and now her head was throbbing. She took a water cup into the dining room, poured a cup of hot water, and prepared to go upstairs to sleep.
Suddenly, a bright light shone in through the living room window, and she stopped in her tracks when she heard a car shutting off.
Fenfen is back!
Ji Anning’s heart skipped a beat; she wanted to hurry upstairs to avoid Ji Chicheng.
"Boss, be careful,"
A voice suddenly came from outside the door, and Ji Anning paused, turned around, and approached the entrance tentatively.
"We’re home, you’ll feel better after some sobering soup,"
the voice reached the door.
He’s drunk? Ji Anning quickened her pace as the voice, Fenfen, staggered in supporting Ji Chicheng.
Ji Chicheng’s tall and heavy figure was entirely leaning on the slim Fenfen. He wasn’t wearing his coat, and his white shirt was crumpled, with several buttons undone.
His collarbone and chest muscles were exposed, his skin as pale as his face.
One area seemed particularly red, probably from being rubbed while being supported.
Ji Anning stared blankly as Fenfen helped Ji Chicheng past her, leaving behind a strong smell of alcohol.
"Miss Anning, come over and help,"
Fenfen placed Ji Chicheng on the couch but didn’t steady herself and was pulled down by Ji Chicheng, who then hooked his arm around her neck. She struggled to free herself and pleaded with Ji Anning for help.
The image, so intimate, made Ji Anning uncontrollably feel a sour twinge in her heart. She should have gone upstairs and ignored what was happening.
But her legs moved on their own, walking towards them.
She bent down, reached out her arms to grab Ji Chicheng’s arm, and saw, not meaning to, a lipstick print on his shirt over his shoulder, striking and obvious.
Her outstretched hands trembled slightly.
"Miss Anning, watch him for a moment; I’ll go make some sobering soup." Fenfen, using all her might, freed herself from Ji Chicheng’s arm.
After instructing Ji Anning, she went to the kitchen.
Once Fenfen left, the man suddenly became more subdued. He turned over and lay flat on his back, his partly uncovered chest rising and falling rhythmically with his breathing.
In the light, his handsome face looked somewhat pale. His furrowed brows told Ji Anning that he was feeling very uncomfortable.
"Uncle," Ji Anning slowly squatted down, drew closer to Ji Chicheng’s face, and her hand instinctively reached out towards his forehead, wanting to smooth away the worry that caused him pain.
"What are you doing?"
Just as Ji Anning’s fingertips touched Ji Chicheng’s forehead, he suddenly opened his eyes, and at the same time, he caught Ji Anning’s wrist.
A pair of eyes, blurry with drunkenness, glared at Ji Anning furiously.
