Chapter 527 - 519: Awkward Living Together (Seven)
She didn’t wait for his response and continued to move forward, reaching the bed and directly burrowing into the blankets with her wet clothes on.
Already suffering from a cold, which hadn’t fully healed, the dampness in the bed made her head feel heavy, and she drifted into sleep in a daze.
When she opened her eyes again, it was already light outside.
She got up and leaned against the headboard.
The sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, and after a moment, something occurred to her, prompting her to look down at herself.
Her face changed dramatically!
The clothes she was wearing weren’t her own, but a set of beige pajamas.
Who had changed her clothes?
As Ji Anning was anxiously guessing, the door to her room was suddenly opened from outside, and a tall figure walked in.
"Miss Anning, you’re awake."
It was Fenfen, wearing a pink long-sleeve bodycon dress, who walked toward Ji Anning with a gentle smile.
Ji Anning watched Fenfen approach and tentatively asked, "Fenfen, did you change my clothes last night?"
"Yes," Fenfen nodded, "you had a fever last night, and the boss called me late at night to ask me to take care of you."
Upon hearing this, Ji Anning lowered her eyelids and let out a soft ’oh’.
She couldn’t describe how she felt, whether it was relief or disappointment.
Fenfen continued, "Your aunt made some porridge, I’ll bring it up for you to have."
Ji Anning gathered her thoughts, shaking her head, "No need, I’ll get up and have it myself."
"Well... okay then," Fenfen didn’t insist, smiled, nodded to her, "I’ll head to the company first, the boss is waiting for me to work."
Ji Anning pursed her lips as a response.
After Fenfen left, she threw off the blankets, got out of bed, and after freshening up, she went downstairs. As she reached the stairway, she glanced into the living room and saw Qingqing sitting alone on the floor mat, playing with toys.
"Qingqing."
After calling out, Ji Anning hurried down the stairs and walked over to Qingqing’s side.
Qingqing lifted a building block and held it up, "Mommy play."
Ji Anning smiled and shook her head, "Mommy won’t play now, I’ll take you out later."
She had agreed the night before that she would go back and fetch her clothes today; he hadn’t responded, so she took it as if he had agreed.
She couldn’t possibly stay here in the same clothes forever.
Ji Anning’s plan was simple, after eating, she took Qingqing back to Charles’s house in N City.
They took a taxi, and when the vehicle stopped at the gate, she paid the fare, opened the car door, and Qingqing couldn’t wait to slide out first.
"Qingqing..."
Worried the little girl might stumble and get hurt, Ji Anning quickly got out of the car.
"Charles."
The little girl cried out ’Charles’ clearly, and Ji Anning was startled, raising her head to look into the yard, where an elegant and dignified middle-aged man stood at the doorway of the house, dressed in a deep blue suit, tall and upright.
He watched Qingqing, with a pair of deep blue eyes filled with indulgent amusement.
Mr. Charles, why had he come again? Hadn’t he just returned to L City?
Ji Anning, watching Qingqing joyfully run toward Charles, felt anxious and worried.
Qingqing ran up to Charles, who bent down to pick her up, looking at her affectionately and asked, "Did you miss Mr. Charles?"
Qingqing nodded vigorously, "Mhm."
Charles doted on her, which was why she liked him so much.
His indulgent smile deepened, and he reached out, his finger gently poking the little girl’s cheek as he continued to ask, "How about Charles takes you home, back to our castle in L City?"
