Chapter 500 - 492: Fenfen, My Daughter (16)

Ji Chicheng paid no attention and marched straight toward the staircase.

Seeing this, the butler moved closer to Charles, waiting for his command. Charles raised one hand leisurely and waved it slightly.

Indicating for him to step back.

Then he extended his hand to pick up a cup of tea, the corners of his mouth curling with interest, "Young man."

...

In total three floors, Ji Chicheng started from the third floor, searching room by room as he made his way down.

Almost all of the rooms on the third floor were empty.

He began on the second floor with the room at the far west side, pushing open the door to a vast room filled with various exercise equipment.

Laid out neatly and sparsely.

Ji Chicheng just glanced inside, then opened the door to the second room.

The room was spacious, with a south-facing balcony, a hint of mustiness in the air, clean and tidy - it had to be the master bedroom.

Was this... their room?

Ji Chicheng’s heart clenched sharply, wanting to immediately shut the door, yet his feet involuntarily carried him inside, through the bathroom, and into the full view of the bedroom.

Bookshelves, wardrobe, desk, and there was even a pair of glasses and an open book on the desk.

This was undoubtedly the master bedroom, but it lacked any trace of a woman’s touch. When he had glanced inside the bathroom earlier, he saw a single toothbrush, simple men’s skincare products.

There were none of the complicated assortments of bottles and jars that belonged to a woman, providing him a deceitful comfort in his heart.

His gaze swept around the room, over the neatly made bed, and finally came to rest on the bedside table.

His expression changed suddenly, his pupils dilating in shock.

’Chengcheng, dear, mommy will take you wherever she goes. Chengcheng is mommy’s treasure.’

’I don’t want to take you. Stay with your father, he can give you the best conditions.’

’Don’t go, don’t leave me behind...’

Memories burst forth like a torrential beast, and he turned and ran out of the room, rushing downstairs.

His footsteps hastened straight toward the front door.

Passing by Charles, Charles got up and frowned at him, "Handsome guy."

Ji Chicheng paid no attention to Charles, hurried out the door, walked to the car, pulled open the door, and got in.

’Don’t go, don’t leave me behind...’

’Save me, please save me, don’t let go...’

The car window was down, the cool breeze gusting into the vehicle. Ji Chicheng gripped the steering wheel with one hand and rested the other on the window, holding a loose fist under his chin, burying his teeth fiercely into the knuckle of his index finger.

His eyes were bloodshot red.

The understated, luxurious car sped recklessly along the wide avenues of L city, venting emotion.

After a bout of madness, he stopped, only to find his heart emptier, more panicked, more helpless.

Ji Chicheng rested his hands on the steering wheel, his head slumped against the headrest, overwhelmed by emotions of pain and hatred that he could not suppress.

Suddenly, the phone on the passenger seat rang. He lifted his head, looking ahead at the endless road.

He covered his face with both hands, took a deep breath, steadied himself, and then picked up the phone to see the caller ID before putting it to his ear.

"Boss, we found out Miss Anning took the earliest flight today to N city. That flight will land around five or six in the evening."

After hearing the beige-tone report, Ji Chicheng coldly ordered, "Have our people in N city wait at the airport."

"Understood." Beige responded, then added, "I have already purchased your ticket for the 1:30 flight. You should head out now."
