Then he walked ahead, leading the way.
Upon entering and walking a bit further inside, Ji Anning finally saw a table with customers beside the floor-to-ceiling window—a stunningly handsome mixed-race man sat there.
Dressed in a light blue suit and a pale pink shirt, he sat, his deep blue eyes gazing at the boundless sea outside the window.
"Mr. Janlia, your guest has arrived,"
said the middle-aged man who was leading Ji Anning’s way to the beautiful mixed-race man, nodding slightly to him.
Only then did Janlia take his gaze away from the window, glancing over Wang Zhuoling without pausing, and then settling on Ji Anning.
The admiration in his eyes was undisguised, and he generously complimented her, "Miss Ji is even more beautiful in person than in photos and on TV, beyond my imagination."
Ji Anning returned his smile, and the breath she had just relaxed was held tight again.
She covertly sized up Janlia and felt that he was different from what she had imagined.
Not in appearance, but the feeling he gave, which she couldn’t quite explain.
"Hello, I am Janlia."
Janlia stood up and extended his right hand to Ji Anning very gentlemanly.
Ji Anning reached out and shook his hand, "Hello."
Then Janlia invited Ji Anning and Wang Zhuoling to take their seats, with Ji Anning sitting on the inside, by the window, and Wang Zhuoling on the outside.
As everyone was seated, the waiter approached to speak, but Janlia waved her off, "Wait a moment, one more guest has yet to arrive."
Upon hearing this, Ji Anning’s heart gave a sudden jolt.
Before she could speculate further, Janlia across the table suddenly looked up toward the restaurant’s entrance and smiled, waving his hand, "Ann, over here."
Ji Anning’s breath involuntarily held, as heavy footsteps approached from afar.
"Isn’t this... isn’t this..." Wang Zhuoling looked up, surprised at the man who had arrived behind Ji Anning.
With her mouth hanging open in shock,
she stuttered for a while, unable to name the man, then looked again at Ji Anning with a puzzled expression.
Even without looking up, Ji Anning already had an answer in her heart; her hands under the table were sweating with nervousness.
A familiar male voice suddenly sounded above her, "Miss Ji, I didn’t expect us to meet this way."
The tip of Ji Anning’s heart quivered faintly; she took a deep breath in the dark, then looked up with a smile at the man who loomed over her, "Yes, it’s quite unexpected."
She struggled to maintain her composure.
At that moment, Janlia across the table suddenly stood up and, pointing at Ji Chicheng, introduced him to them: "This is the founder, legal representative, and owner of Beautiful City, Ann."
Upon hearing this, Ji Anning couldn’t stay composed any longer; her eyes widened with surprise, and she watched Ji Chicheng take a seat opposite her.
Her first impulse was to flee.
After Ji Chicheng sat down, he didn’t look at Ji Anning. He leisurely rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt after unbuttoning the cuffs.
Then with the napkin in place, he finally looked up at Ji Anning, meeting her surprised eyes with a cold smirk, raising an eyebrow, "Miss Ji, are you staring at me because you find my face unfamiliar?"
Ji Anning pursed her lips, unsure how to respond.
"There are three bottles of wine here, all of which I have been enjoying recently. If Miss Ji can drink them all in one go, she will be the spokesperson for Beautiful City."
