Chapter 468 - 460: One Million, A Kiss (Part 3)

Wang Zhuoling gave him a bored look, then walked behind Ji Anning, staring at her reflection in the mirror for a while with satisfaction written all over her face.

"All right, I’ve got a nine o’clock flight, I’ve got to go," Luke glanced at his watch and reached out to scratch Ji Anning’s chin gently, "Baby, call me anytime you want next time, I love serving beautiful people."

Ji Anning knew he had no ulterior motives and was not ill-intentioned, so she smiled generously.

After sending Luke off, Wang Zhuoling came back and stared at Ji Anning, who had already stood up, for a long while, making Ji Anning feel uneasy all over.

She asked in confusion, "Sister Wang, what’s up?"

Only then did Wang Zhuoling withdraw her gaze, smiling, "I didn’t expect you to be so likable, to get Luke to be at your beck and call. I reckon there aren’t many in the entertainment industry who can claim that – I had quite a time convincing him to come."

Ji Anning did not take Wang Zhuoling’s words to heart.

She thought it was just a courtesy or perhaps a joke, and how could she take it seriously?

The VIPs from Beautiful City arrived in Hai City after four in the afternoon and stayed at a seven-star seaside hotel in the city.

Ji Anning’s car slowly circled past the hotel’s fountain in the front and drove into the lobby, where the valet was waiting to open the door for them as soon as the car stopped.

Ji Anning was wearing a pair of white Chanel flat loafers on her feet – she always insisted on choosing her shoes, the one thing she would never compromise with Wang Zhuoling on.

Following Wang Zhuoling through the spacious revolving door, her heart began to tremble again.

The restaurant was on the third floor. They entered the elevator, and in the blink of an eye, it stopped again.

She clasped her hands tightly, looking down, her steps getting slower and slower; she even began to regret it, wanting to back out, not wanting to move forward.

"Are you very nervous?" Wang Zhuoling suddenly turned around, smiling slightly at Ji Anning.

Ji Anning nodded absently, "Yeah, a little."

"You’re excited, I guess," Wang Zhuoling said, reaching out to grab Ji Anning’s wrist and hurried her along.

The closer they got to the restaurant entrance, the more difficult Ji Anning found it to walk.

But what was inevitable would always come. When they reached the restaurant entrance, Wang Zhuoling stopped and looked at Ji Anning, whispering instructions, "Behave well later, if you land the endorsement from Beautiful City, you’ll really have made it – such luck is something many people can’t beg for."

Because it was luck that many people couldn’t beg for, that’s why she was so full of doubts and so very anxious.

Ji Anning and Wang Zhuoling hadn’t even entered when suddenly someone from inside came up to them.

"Are you Miss Ji?"

A tall middle-aged foreigner in a dark gray suit regarded Ji Anning and Wang Zhuoling with gentlemanly manners.

He addressed Ji Anning directly, whereas in their past outings, people would typically greet Wang Zhuoling first and then Wang Zhuoling would introduce her.

Ji Anning quickly sized up the middle-aged foreign man and then nodded, "I am."

Answering him, her gaze shifted to look inside the restaurant. Looking around, every table was empty, not a single guest in sight.

The atmosphere was so quiet it was abnormal; it was dinnertime, so how could such a large hotel restaurant have no one at all?

"Mr. Janlia has been waiting for a long time. Please, come this way," the middle-aged man said, bowing slightly and gesturing inside the restaurant, politely addressing Ji Anning and her party.
