Chapter 445 - 437: From Now On, Strangers? (Part 10)

"Say it again!" Ji Chicheng gritted his teeth, and the force in his hand began to increase once more.

Ji Anning’s lips curled into a cold arc, enlarging as she enunciated each word clearly, repeating that heart-wrenching sentence, "So why should I keep your child?"

"You..." The murderous look in Ji Chicheng’s eyes flared as he tightened his grip on her, his other hand raised.

Ji Anning closed her eyes, tilted her head back, and did not resist in the slightest.

Her beautiful face, perfectly delicate features, and coldly defiant attitude stopped Ji Chicheng’s hand, which had been raised mid-air.

Then he clenched his fist and violently smashed it into the wall behind Ji Anning.

With a ’thud’, the blow did not land on her face, but instead struck her heart. She kept her eyes closed, daring not to open them, because the tears couldn’t be held back.

"It would have been better if I had just let you die back then."

Ji Chicheng released the hand that was choking Ji Anning’s chin and also retracted his other hand that was pressed against the wall.

Turning around, his gaze swept over Ji Anning’s face once more, but now it was devoid of warmth.

His tall figure receded into the distance, taking with him his pain, his injury, his desolation...

Until he disappeared from her sight.

Ji Anning leaned against the wall, opened her palms, covered her face, shielding her feelings, masking the pain, hiding her emotions.

...

Having been with the Ji Family for so many years, Ji Anning finally stepped into J.C for the first time. The grand revolving doors, the tastefully lavish lobby, and receptionists each more beautiful than internet celebrities.

"Miss, may I ask who you are looking for?"

Both male and female employees at J.C wore uniforms and had ID badges. Ji Anning did not, so the receptionist stopped her.

Ji Anning told the receptionist, "I’m here to see your chairman, just say I am Ji Anning."

"Alright, please wait a moment."

Upon hearing the surname ’Ji’, the receptionist immediately smiled, nodded in response to her while picking up the phone.

Ji Anning sneered inwardly; Ji Ruoqian once said that in Hai City, the ’Ji’ surname was synonymous with nobility. It wasn’t entirely bragging.

At least in high-end settings, mentioning the surname ’Ji’ was always effective.

After calling the old master, the receptionist personally escorted Ji Anning to the elevator entrance. The high-speed elevator reached the top floor in the blink of an eye.

"Miss Anning."

The old master had already arranged for Assistant Wu to await Ji Anning at the elevator. As soon as Ji Anning stepped out of the elevator, he greeted her with a smile.

Ji Anning gave him a polite nod and followed behind him.

"Is that the Vice President Ji’s fiancée?"

"Is she the adopted daughter-in-law?"

"She’s so beautiful."

It was Ji Anning’s first visit to the company. As she entered the executive office, everyone looked at her with curious eyes, speculating about her identity.

Their murmuring was quiet, but Ji Anning vaguely overheard them. She did not care and continued following Assistant Wu’s lead.

After Assistant Wu escorted Ji Anning into the old master’s office, he went out and closed the door.

"Anning, what made you decide to come to the company today?" Ji Zhengdao put down his work and got up, smiling gently as he approached Ji Anning.

Ji Anning looked at him expressionlessly and stated her purpose directly, "I don’t want to marry Ji Jingfeng. I want to leave the Ji Family."

The old master furrowed his brow, "Anning, Jingfeng is not so bad either, you grew up together since you were kids. Isn’t it good for you two to be together?"

Ji Anning didn’t want to discuss whether Ji Jingfeng was good or not, or their mutual debts of gratitude and grudges. She didn’t want to talk about it or think about it anymore; she just wanted to leave the Ji Family.
