Chapter 407 - 401 Unacceptable Truth (Part 6)
"I want you; you are mine."
"Don’t say you are just a prospective niece-in-law. Even if you were my own niece, what difference would it make..."
She hugged her knees and cried out loud.
What should she do? What could she do?
Hearing her crying, the old man paused for a long time before he continued, "You are my own granddaughter. How could I not feel pain for you, pain for him? But your love for each other is wrong."
Is it wrong? Where is it wrong?
Anning stood up, opened the door, tears streaming down her face as she angrily asked the elderly man, "Who ever told us that we were blood relatives? Who ever cared about what we truly wanted?"
The emotions she couldn’t control had been suppressed for a long time in her heart against her grandfather’s family, and she vented them all at once, "You only know to give him the most expensive things, thinking that’s the best. But have you ever considered what he truly wants?"
After shouting, her lips trembled, and her body shivered slightly.
The old man, however, looked at her calmly, "He wants his mother’s love, but his mother is no longer here. And he doesn’t know; he still thinks I forcibly took him away from his mother, thinking his mother abandoned him. So, he has always hated me, refusing to accept a penny from the Ji Family, refusing to take my place."
Anning was surprised; she did not doubt what the old man said.
She didn’t know, she didn’t know any of this.
When she came to the Ji Family, he was already there. She only knew that the Ji Family’s servants all called him Young Master, and the Grandfather with the highest status in the family liked him very much.
She had once disliked his pride and coldness, not knowing that behind his aloofness, there were such deep wounds.
How could she not love such an uncle even more?
The old man was silent for a while, then spoke earnestly, "Anning, you actually don’t truly understand him. His heart, though it appears simple, is far more complex than you can imagine."
Anning wasn’t discouraged by the old man’s words from feeling estranged towards Chicheng. She tilted her tear-filled face upwards, stubbornly looking at him, "Then, Grandfather, do you know that he actually loves you? Beside his bed, he has a photo of you and him climbing a mountain together?"
Upon hearing this, the old man was taken aback, obviously not having expected that Chicheng still cared for him.
"Thank you for telling me this."
He nodded, his gaze becoming much warmer, "Anning, Grandfather feels very guilty for all the hardship you’ve endured at the Ji Family all these years. But we both love him; we shouldn’t destroy him."
He looked at Anning and continued, "Do you know that if you and Jingfeng don’t stay together, Jingfeng will not even be eligible to carry the Ji surname, let alone inherit the Ji Family?"
That much was certain.
It wasn’t that she understood the old man so well, but rather, anyone with his own sons and granddaughters would not hand over the family to someone with no blood relation to them.
But, what did that have to do with her?
Anning coldly replied, "That has nothing to do with me, or with him."
Jingfeng had almost taken her life, causing the death of her and her uncle’s child. Should she still help him secure his position?
Whether he could reign supreme had nothing to do with her. She only wanted her uncle, a city that belonged solely to her.
"If so, your relationship, including the fact that you are real uncle and niece, will be exposed immediately."
