Chapter 401 - 395: Fate Plays with People Like This (Part 10)

Ji Anning vaguely felt that there might be some story between Jin Yuanyuan and Yao Yiyang, perhaps one Jin Yuanyuan no longer remembered.

Last time, with the matter of the post, she guessed it might have been Yao Yiyang who orchestrated the whole thing himself.

...

She had planned to review her course notes these past few days, but because of Jin Yuanyuan, she hadn’t managed to, so she found the class rather challenging. Moreover, having just returned from City N, she struggled with jet lag, and had not slept well the previous night. As she stepped out of the classroom, Ji Anning felt very fatigued, rubbing her temples as she walked.

The weather in Hai City had been gloomy for the past few days, occasionally sprinkling a few snowflakes, though not heavily.

Perhaps influenced by Jin Yuanyuan’s situation, she suddenly felt uncomfortable seeing such weather, really disliked it, and even found it somewhat bleak.

Worried about Jin Yuanyuan, Ji Anning left the academic building and immediately hurried to the dormitory.

The more carefree someone usually is, the deeper their emotions run, and the harder it is for them to let go. She didn’t know how to comfort her, the only thing she could do was to spend more time with her.

During class, she had turned off her cellphone. Now, as she walked along powering it back on, she immediately received a message from Ji Chicheng on WeChat.

"Call me after your class, I’ll come pick you up."

After reading the message, she prepared to reply.

Suddenly, someone in front of her called out, "Miss Anning."

It was the voice of a strange middle-aged man. Puzzled, she looked up and saw him, her face flickering with surprise—it was Grandfather’s aide!

Although she had not seen him many times, she recognized him instantly.

Seeing the old gentleman’s aide, Ji Anning’s heart tensed, and she slowly approached him.

When the two met, she nodded slightly, "Hello."

The aide also nodded politely, "The chairman wants to see you."

"Ah!" Ji Anning’s heart skipped, instinctively guessing that the reason Grandfather wanted to see her was related to Ji Chicheng.

It had to be!

Ji Anning thought, her hands tightly clutching the books pressed against her chest, unwittingly nearly breaking her fingernails.

"Miss Anning?"

When Ji Anning didn’t respond for a while, the aide kindly reminded her.

Only then did Ji Anning nod, "Okay."

With this weather, anyone not having classes would be hiding in their dorms. The road to the south gate of the campus was deserted and quiet.

Ji Anning followed nervously behind the aide. Once outside the southern gate, she saw Grandfather’s car parked across the street.

She grew even more nervous.

Every step that followed felt incredibly difficult for her; she knew that today was the real confrontation, facing her elderly relative.

The aide reached the car first, pulling open the door for Ji Anning ahead of time, the back seat, where Grandfather sat in his favorite Sun Yat-sen suit.

Seeing Ji Anning approaching, he smiled serenely, "Anning, it’s cold outside, come in quickly."

"Grandfather." Ji Anning nodded, greeted him, then bent over and got into the car.

She sat almost an arm’s length away from her grandfather.

The aide gently closed the door, then walked around to the driver’s seat and started the car.

The car left the vicinity of T University and entered the broad main road.

For a long while, Grandfather remained silent next to her, the atmosphere inside the car so oppressive Ji Anning nearly couldn’t breathe. She occasionally glanced sidelong at Grandfather.

His gaze was fixed outside the window, as if deep in thought.

"Grandfather."
