Chapter 368 - 362: When Words Fail, Sleep Takes Over (16)
"After my exams are over and I have a break, I’ll come and see you again. The wind is so strong outside; you should head back,"
Ji Anning used the excuse of needing to revise for her final exams to suggest to Yang Yufang that she should head back first.
Reluctantly, Yang Yufang was even more reluctant, holding her hand firmly and insisting on walking her to the dock. "I’ll take a walk and see you off to the dock."
Just then, Ji Jingfeng’s voice suddenly came from behind them, "Mom, let me take her."
His tall and thin figure walked out of the house as he spoke, his gentle gaze sweeping over Yang Yufang before landing on Ji Anning, immediately turning frosty with a hint of mockery.
Yang Yufang, oblivious to Ji Jingfeng’s expression, nodded happily, "That would be great. Make sure to see her onto the boat."
She had been worried Ji Anning might be using an excuse to leave due to a conflict with Ji Jingfeng.
This moment, as Ji Jingfeng spontaneously offered to take Ji Anning, indirectly shattered her uneasy suspicions.
"Understood, you go and rest," Ji Jingfeng said, descending the steps slowly, walking up to Yang Yufang with a reassuring smile. Then he suddenly reached out, grabbed Ji Anning’s hand tightly, lifted it up, and with a smile to Yang Yufang, said, "I’ll definitely see Anning to the dock and onto the boat."
Only Ji Anning could detect the sinister tone in his voice.
Angered by his behavior, yet not wanting to show it too obviously in front of Yang Yufang.
Ji Anning kept her head down, and once out of Yang Yufang’s sight, she decisively shook off Ji Jingfeng’s hand and hurried ahead, dragging her suitcase faster and faster.
The more she rejected him, the more Ji Jingfeng felt his dignity was affronted. He caught up to Ji Anning in a few long strides and mocked her coldly, "You’re so prudish, how did you seduce my uncle? How did you end up in his bed? Or is it that you both are equally despicable?"
As Ji Jingfeng’s insults grew more offensive, involving Ji Chicheng, Ji Anning abruptly stopped, turned around, and sneered at him, "Ji Jingfeng, don’t you find yourself annoying?"
She could endure the humiliation for all the reasons she should endure.
But when it came to her uncle, she couldn’t accept even one word, not from anyone.
Her sudden retort was completely unexpected by Ji Jingfeng. Taking advantage of his momentary stupor, Ji Anning boldly lifted her chin and declared, "I did seduce him, I do like him, I always have, just as you like Bai Guo. If I am wrong, then you have been making the same mistake all along."
Her words paused momentarily, then she coldly raised her eyebrows at him, "Or perhaps, you hope I keep clinging to you, hoping I care about becoming the Ji family’s future mistress?"
"Now you finally admit you’re cheap," Ji Jingfeng jeered. "But, Ji Anning, what grounds do you have to compare with me? You were sold into our family to be raised as a child bride, merely a ritual bride. Had it not been for the Ji family, your parents would have long been buried. And you still think you can compare to me?"
Ji Anning’s hand, holding onto her suitcase handle, clenched so tight that the veins on the back of her hand bulged. She bit down on her teeth, taking a while to suppress her fury.
"I don’t want to talk to you, please disappear from my sight immediately, or I will tell my uncle."
Fearing Ji Jingfeng might bother her further, she bluntly brought up Ji Chicheng, confident that Ji Jingfeng was indeed wary of Ji Chicheng.
