Chapter 363 - 357: Going to Sleep Over a Disagreement (Part 11)

After dinner, Ji Anning accompanied Yang Yufang in the living room to watch TV.

At Yang Yufang’s request, Ji Anning lay down, her head on her lap.

Yang Yufang looked down at Ji Anning, her eyes filled with maternal love.

Ji Anning felt guilty under her gaze and frowned, "Mom, watch the TV, why are you staring at me?"

"Anning, is Jingfeng good to you?"

Yang Yufang suddenly asked, her brows slightly furrowed after the question, her eyes tinged with melancholy, or perhaps worry.

It was as if she had a knot in her heart that she couldn’t untie.

Her sudden question made Ji Anning’s heart uneasy. She stared at her mother’s troubled face and tentatively asked, "Why are you asking this all of a sudden?"

Yang Yufang sighed, "Ah, your mom can’t be by your side to watch over you two, my heart is unsettled, I’m worried about you."

While speaking, her hands were gently stroking the stray hairs from Ji Anning’s forehead, indulging her with tender care.

Upon hearing this, Ji Anning’s sense of guilt surged. She clasped Yang Yufang’s hands with both of hers, opened her mouth, and looked at her with shimmering eyes, "Mom, I..."

I’m sorry, I don’t like Jingfeng, Jingfeng doesn’t like me either, I like my uncle, and I’m together with him now, you shouldn’t be so kind to me anymore.

Yet, though she felt the impulse to confess, she lacked the courage.

She was afraid, afraid she wouldn’t receive her forgiveness, her blessing, and even terrified of losing her love.

Ji Anning, how can you be so greedy, harboring such wishful thinking?

Seeing her hesitate to speak, Yang Yufang raised her eyebrows in confusion, "What’s wrong?"

Ji Anning pursed her lips tightly and forced a slight smile, "I’m fine, just take good care of yourself."

Just then, Sister Zhang came over, smiling and carrying a tray.

"Second madam, it’s time for your medicine."

Ji Anning quickly sat up, stood to meet Sister Zhang, and took the tray from her hands, "Aunt Zhang, I can take care of it."

She then nodded politely to Sister Zhang.

She thought that having Yang Yufang here, the household helpers were indispensable. It was always right to be polite and courteous to them.

"Miss Anning is the most gentle and sensible among all the young masters and misses of the Ji Family," Sister Zhang praised Ji Anning to Yang Yufang with a smile.

Yang Yufang, without any modesty, nodded in agreement, "Our Anning is indeed very sensible."

After all, not everyone could serve the other three misses of the Ji Family; whether the servants were older or younger, none had escaped being vexed by them.

"Mom, the water’s at just the right temperature, give it a try."

Ji Anning set the tray down, tested the water in the cup, and then handed it to Yang Yufang.

"Okay." Yang Yufang nodded, took the cup, and then said to Ji Anning, "You’ve been traveling all day, it’s late. You should head upstairs to rest."

"I’ll stay with you a little longer."

Ji Anning bent down and sat back on the sofa.

’Ding’, the phone in her pocket suddenly alerted her to a text message. She guessed it was from Ji Chicheng but didn’t dare to take it out to look.

After Yang Yufang took her medicine, she couldn’t stop yawning and looked extremely tired.

Ji Anning said, "Mom, let’s both go upstairs to sleep."

As she spoke, she reached out to embrace her arm and helped her to stand up.

"I am tired, honestly, I can’t even deny getting old," Yang Yufang said, standing up and lamenting with self-mockery.
