Chapter 360 - 354: Disagree and ’Sleep’ (Part 8)

"I learned how to make omurice from Sister Zhang; I’ll make some for you once we go inside."

Yang Yufang held Ji Anning’s hand, her mood completely unaffected by Ji Jingfeng.

Along the way, she talked about the fun places on the island and some purely natural fruits and wild vegetables.

Ji Anning listened all the way, her feelings complex and heavy.

An European-style three-story villa, as luxurious as she had seen from the yacht just before.

The yard had various kinds of flowers, and there were vegetables too.

Ji Anning looked around, her eyes curious about every grass and tree in the yard.

Yang Yufang glanced at her, then let go of her hand. "Take a walk in the yard. The sun is nice today; I’ll get the food out for you."

Ji Anning nodded and hummed in agreement.

Just as well she didn’t want to go inside to face Ji Jingfeng. Their encounters had become painful, so it was best to avoid contact if possible.

Once Yang Yufang entered the house, Ji Anning stepped into a narrow path, quickly winding her way to the villa’s backyard.

Somewhat absent-minded.

The wide green lawn wasn’t as she had imagined; a long concrete path stretched ahead, its destination unknown.

Tall coconut trees lined the path.

Ji Anning felt more and more that this place was a paradise; she was amazed and couldn’t associate such a beautiful place with what they called Death Island.

Her steps took her onto that long path.

Suddenly, she noticed a snowy white cat crouching under the third coconut tree, nestled by the roots, basking in the sun and lazily squinting its eyes.

Ji Anning had never seen such a white cat, and her steps unwittingly drew closer, but the fluffy creature did not move at all.

It showed no fear of her, this human, languidly nesting there, composed as if... someone.

She laughed, her steps light as she approached the cat. Not knowing its temperament, she slowly bent down, carefully extending her hand to touch its snowy fur.

"Meow!"

The cat suddenly rose, let out a sound, and in the blink of an eye it darted several meters away, stopped, turned its head, and looked at her intently.

It seemed to be venting its displeasure.

Ji Anning found it particularly interesting and felt playful, trying to approach it once more.

But before she could get close, the little creature elegantly escaped a few meters away again.

"Hey!" Ji Anning continued to chase.

The cat kept running.

In this game of chase, they unwittingly ran to the end of the path, where the cat also stopped, meowing twice.

The high garden walls were covered in roses; Ji Anning was surprised to see that, even in this season, the roses were still blooming in more than one color.

She felt as though this island was Alice’s garden.

Dreamy and bizarre.

While Ji Anning was staring in surprise at the vibrant roses, the cat suddenly darted into a patch of roses with a rustle.

She jumped in fright.

She prepared to bend down to search, and unintentionally, her eyes swept across the yard toward a corner in the west wall, sending a chill down her spine.

The cat in the roses hid inside and made its way along the wall corner in that direction.

Ji Anning swallowed, her steps involuntarily moving in that direction, drawing closer step by step to three tombstones built like small castles.

The inscriptions on the tombstones gradually came into her view.

When Ji Anning saw the inscriptions "beloved son" and "beloved daughter," the hairs on her body stood on end.
