Chapter 336 - 214: Rekindled Relationship, Growing Affection [7,000 Words] (Part 2)
It’s really damn treacherous.
*
Subduing those hooligans, retrieving the phone, and calling the police took almost half an hour.
Nora Scott and Pedro Langley avoided the hassle of going to the police for a statement, and retreated promptly after reporting the incident.
All four tires were punctured, so the car was undrivable; they had to hail a taxi on the road.
"Where to?" the driver asked.
Pedro was about to name the neighborhood when Nora interrupted, "Cloud Sky Hotel."
The driver glanced meaningfully at them through the rearview mirror, his expression becoming suggestive, and he responded cheerfully, "Alright."
"Take off your coat; it’s soaked,"
Nora pinched Pedro’s sleeve with two fingers, feeling the dampness of the fabric, her brows knitted tightly together.
After getting drenched for one or two hours, he might get sick, right?
Seeing her concern, Pedro didn’t insist on wearing it and simply unbuttoned and removed his coat.
Underneath was a thin white shirt.
Worried that his shirt might also be soaked, Nora reached out her finger again to poke his shoulders, arms, and sleeves to see if his clothes were wet. When she was about to probe further, Pedro firmly stopped her.
Pedro lowered his voice, warning, "Don’t poke around."
Through the fabric of the shirt, his body heat transferred through to her fingertips. Her soft, delicate fingers brushed against him, fanning the flames.
"...Oh."
Nora, a bit belatedly, responded and withdrew her hand from his grasp.
The raincoat couldn’t keep out all the rain; having stayed in the rain for too long and discarding the cumbersome raincoat when chasing someone, Nora’s hair was now soaked, her coat half-drenched. After a while, she took off her coat as well, placing it on her lap.
The driver turned up the car’s temperature, and the two sitting close together could feel each other’s warmth.
A long while later.
"Want to eat something?"
Out of the blue, Pedro took out his phone and asked Nora, "Eat at the hotel, or order takeaway?"
Nora leaned back in the seat, pondered for a moment, and said, "I’ll have Virtue Retreat deliver to the hotel."
The driver, who had been listening to their conversation, couldn’t help but kindly remind, "Young lady, Virtue Retreat doesn’t do deliveries."
Within Anchel, not everyone could afford Virtue Retreat, but most had heard of its reputation. It’s said the place even had some martial world mystique.
The driver obviously knew a bit about Virtue Retreat and, hearing that their accents weren’t local to Anchel, couldn’t help but utter a warning.
"Yeah, I know."
Driver: ???
Shouldn’t it be, ’Oh, I know’?
What’s with this composed, as-if-it-were-and-expected demeanor?
Before the driver could make any sense of it, Nora had already dialed the front desk of Virtue Retreat.
Every front desk at Virtue Retreat had her number registered and knew her identity. Once the call connected, the receptionist respectfully asked what she required.
Nora didn’t waste any words, directly ordering several signature dishes, which the receptionist noted one by one before Nora hung up.
The driver, who heard Nora’s end of the call clearly: "..."
Who would have thought, this young lady, pretty as she was at a young age, could skillfully flaunt herself.
If someone didn’t know the rules of Virtue Retreat, they’d likely be bluffed by her—
That even a heavyweight hotel like Virtue Retreat would make an exception for her to deliver food, it would be quite the bragging right if word got out.
"Do you get this special treatment at all Virtue Retreats?" Pedro asked, slightly curious.
"Yes." Nora nodded slightly, unhurriedly adding, "I’ll let them know one day and include you."
Her friends always get meals on the house.
Her family... of course, deserves some special treatment.
"Okay."
Pedro smirked, accepting the ’special treatment’.
"..."
The driver, feeling a sense of injustice, began to re-evaluate the two passengers behind him.
Initially thought to be a lovely couple, good-looking and charming, the young man appeared successful, while the woman had fair skin, a pretty face, and long legs...
Never would’ve guessed, one was a pretentious freeloader, the other a pretentious conwoman.
And all Virtue Retreats give her special treatment?
Why doesn’t she just boast up to the heavens!
The driver’s sense of righteousness surged, feeling some indignation. If it weren’t for the rain outside causing his conscience some unease, he would’ve really wanted to drop this freeloader and conwoman at the roadside.
Eating from Virtue Retreat?
Go eat dirt!

The taxi stopped outside the Cloud Sky Hotel.
