Chapter 282 Sir, This Is How You Detonate The Explosives

"Ladies, this is a bad time to be in Lioren. Currently, you won’t be able to leave until the ban on the airports has been lifted. Did you know this?" Questioned the middle-aged driver of the taxi they flagged down.

Kelsie merely smiled and got inside the car while Molly groaned, leaning against the windscreen tiredly, "So I’ve been telling her."

Fastening her seatbelt, Kelsie raised her head and gestured to Molly who was still dragging her feet to get in.

"Not to worry, sir. My cousin was born here and knows the place like the back of her hand."

Getting in, Molly rolled her eyes and lifted her finger to draw circles on the windscreen.

Hearing her, the driver was slightly convinced and started the car.

A few minutes in, Molly heaved. "I can’t believe you left your kids for a mission you work share with me."

Kelsie glanced at her briefly before retracing her eyes to the road, "I didn’t leave them alone. They’ve been studying too much, so I had them take a three-day vacation with Daniel."

Still drawing on the windscreen, Molly sighed heavily. "They get to go on vacations. How lucky."

The car was plunged into silence for the next ten minutes before Kelsie’s cell began beeping and she leaned forward to tap the driver, "We’re stopping here."

The driver stepped down on the brakes, a frown easing into his expression when he realized she had him stop in the middle of the road.

Glancing around to be sure he wasn’t mistaken, he then stared at her through the rearview mirror, affirming, "Here? Not to intrude, but this is the middle of the road. People don’t get taxis easily around here."

"Furthermore, reports of wild animals mauling people have been frequent in this area. Are you sure this is really your destination?"

Molly also straightened up, her pupils dilating when she saw where they were.

"Kelsie, please listen to the man."

But Kelsie simply reached for the doorknob and alighted, flashing the taxi man a smile once she was out.

"Thank you for looking out for us, but this is really where we’re stopping."

Seeing he couldn’t persuade them, he gave up and collected his fare.

As he drove off, Kelsie took out her phone and began walking to the left.

Following after her, Molly started to complain again, "You’ve never been to Lioren, but what that man said was true."

"This place is dangerous, and even with my risky role in the Langford family, I don’t come to places like this."

Kelsie abruptly stopped walking and Molly’s eyes instantly lit up.

"Thank goodness you’ve seen reason with me. Now let’s head back to the road and hope someone drives past us soon."

As she beamed, Kelsie turned to look at her without a word.

Confused, Molly gritted her teeth. "What? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Kelsie slipped a hand into her pocket and pointed around with the other, scoffing, "Molly, I’m looking at you because you’re lying. We both know you’ve been here multiple times in the past."

The woman grimaced, scratching her brow for a moment before humming in agreement.

"Okay, fine. This is a good body-dumping site because of the reports of wild animals roaming around. But I’ve never been here during the day, so I don’t my way arou... oh my goodness!"

She was still speaking when she exclaimed in disbelief, stopping dead in her tracks when they suddenly came upon a bungalow.

A clean, white bungalow in the middle of nowhere.

It wasn’t dirty and looked like it was taken care of daily. It didn’t even have weeds growing around and had flowers planted in front of it.

"What madman would build something so beautiful in a place like this? It even has a porch."

Kelsie thinned her lips, reaching into her back for something. "The madman who has Emily Hughes."

Molly exhaled sharply, toward toward Kelsie. "Emily Hughes? We came here because of that hippie? You mean all it took to get you here was to kidnap her and bring her down here?"

"Woman, my life was on the line and you didn’t budge. But when it comes to someone who isn’t even family, you fly down here despite knowing the risks?"

Kelsie met her gaze calmly, stretching a pocket light toward her, "Didn’t you say this area is known for wild animals tearing people to bits?"

"You’re vile," Molly scoffed, snatching the pocket light away. "But I wasn’t lying when I said I don’t like it here."

"There’s just something shady about this place... for example, what kind of bungalow with such an amazing exterior would have such a... horrible interior? It looks more like the interior of a cabin."

Molly was the first to step inside. When Kelsie went in after, she also found it strange.

The floor wasn’t tiled and the house wasn’t roofed properly. Even the electrical wiring was damaged.

In place of tiles were boards. Boards which screeched with every step they took. An obvious mechanism to alert whoever was inside that he had intruders.

In response, she pulled her cap lower and raised the torchlight to the four corners of the roof.

When she didn’t see anything, she whipped out her phone and swept it across the room until she found a red dot flashing in their direction.

Molly saw it and gaped, "How nice. They already know we’re here. Who knows if there’s a sniper somewhere waiting to take us out."

"Shouldn’t we have at least come with a machete or some sort of weapon for self-defense?"

The words had barely left her mouth when a big hand suddenly yanked her into a room and kicked her to the floor.

As the person tried to grab Kelsie next, she whipped out a Glock.

"Of course you had a gun this entire time, but God forbid you take it out before I get my ass beat." Molly gritted her teeth, dusting herself as she got up.

At this, the person turned to her in surprise, "Molly?"

Molly frowned hearing the voice. "Butler? Is that you?"

Turning around, the man’s face came into view as he called out to Kelsie, "Ms. Sutton?"

"Butler, it’s you?" Kelsie paused, recognizing him to be Maxwell’s butler. "Shouldn’t you be with Mr. Kensington? What are you doing here?"

The butler hummed, "Robert Figueroa has everyone believing Colton Reed has something to do with Emily Hughes’ kidnapping."

"So Master thought Robert would keep her here. However, when I arrived a few minutes ago, the bungalow was empty."

Molly stared at him blankly, "Why does it sound to me like you knew exactly where to search? Did you know a place like this existed here?"

The butler turned toward her direction, stating flatly, "Master doesn’t involve himself in many things, but he knows many things."

"Of course. Like father, like daughter," Molly hissed, murmuring incoherently under her breath.

"So if she isn’t here, where could she be?" She raised her head and spoke up again.

The butler lowered his eyes thoughtfully.

"Robert Figueroa doesn’t really care about anything, but he wants to solidify his hold in Lioren."

"So I’m thinking... he might’ve taken her somewhere that would make that possible. Where he could play the role of a hero effectively."

Kelsie sucked in her teeth almost immediately. "The Reed family’s house."

In the Reed family’s house, Robert Figueroa sat in their living room, his eyes pinned to the plasma television as he watched the three people moving around on the screen.

By his side, one of his men handed him a little controller, muttering, "Sir, this is how you detonate the explosives."
