Chapter 279 I’ve Made Up My Mind To Send Her Her Child and Grandchildren
Kelsie’s eyes clouded over. "I will kill him."
Molly sucked in her teeth and hurried after her, continuing, "Ten years ago, that would’ve been easy. But his entire family is in the military. It’s a legacy thing. As head of his family, best believe he didn’t get there by luck."
"Through sheer willpower, he pushed his family into a first-tier ranking in just nine years, and now they’re considered one of the rising top four Elite families."
"His combat skills are underrated. Senators and ministers are even rumored to have employed his help to train their security."
"Someone in the good books of that many influential people isn’t someone you can just kill."
Kelsie stopped walking outside the elevator seeing its green light.
With her eyes fixed on the light, Kelsie murmured to Molly’s hearing, "Keep talking, Molly, and I promise you the police will have a hard time identifying your body."
Already expecting the threat, the woman exhaled tiredly.
"This is why I kept insisting you tie the knot with the Reed family. Lioren is changing, and the playing field isn’t leveling."
"Robert Figueroa and the three other Elite families are fighting hard to stay at the top. Our Langford family doesn’t have a head, which makes us an easy target."
"If you keep wasting time, everything you think you’re protecting by being here will be snatched away and there will be nothing you can do about it."
"Sooner rather than later, your daughter will likely fall into Robert’s hands, and he will... ugh!"
Ignoring the other residents around, Kelsie suddenly turned and gripped Molly by the collar, slamming her against the wall with shimmering eyes. "Shut your mouth!"
Knowing she struck a nerve, Molly slowly raised her hands in surrender.
"Forgive me."
Blinking, Kelsie sucked in a deep breath and gently released Molly’s collar.
At the same time, the elevator dinged and slid open to let people out.
As she stepped inside it with Molly, she threw a questioning glance her way. "Tell me everything I need to know about Lioren."
Nodding quickly, Molly leaned against the elevator wall and began.
As the two spoke, in Lioren, a middle-aged man in army uniform stood under a flickering light in a dark basement, with the light illuminating whatever side it swung to.
"You’re disgusting."
In front of him, a red-haired woman sat with her hands cuffed behind her back, and her blood-streaked eyes glaring daggers at him.
Her lips were chapped and split badly, with dried blood clinging to both the upper and lower lips.
Taking his eyes off the torture tools in front of him, he slowly scratched his gray stubbles.
"What? Do you need something already?"
"Screw you." She spat out, eyeing him with hostility.
Sighing, he walked around the table with the tools and stopped in front of her, lowering himself to stare into her face properly.
"How rude of you, Emily. I may not be a decade older, like that mentor of yours, but I’m still your senior. Address me with respect, will you?"
Swallowing, she hissed, "Lois should never have let them banish you to the military. Castration and prolonged humiliation would’ve been better for a bastard like you."
Hearing her, the corners of his lips curled up into a disdainful smile.
"You know, it only becomes what you accuse me of if I was eighteen when it started happening. But I was barely seventeen yet Lois Fletcher paraded me across the entire state."
"Imagine what that did to my self-esteem as a growing boy. How it destroyed my mental health."
"For two years, I was beaten in the military and put through hell, just because I touched a few kids. Do you know what that does to a person?"
Emily Hughes was too disgusted to hold her tongue and sneered, "She should’ve had you killed."
He sucked in his teeth and reached out to grip her hair tightly, yanking it back so she had no choice but to meet his mocking gaze.
"Yeah, she should’ve. When I heard she was dead along with her child, I was... disappointed. Imagine my surprise when I found out a few months ago that her daughter has a six-year-old?"
He paused, clicked his tongue regretfully and shrugged, "A six-year-old. Though she’s older than what I usually go for, it’s manageable. And I’ll go through with it, no matter what just to spit on that bitch’s grave."
His eyelids stretched wide with excitement as he raised a hand to her face, fingers tracing slowly over her features before sliding down to her stomach.
Her eyes bulged in panic and she subconsciously squirmed when his fingers gripped a part of her belly.
"Who knows? I might do you the special favor of letting whatever gender you give birth to have the pleasure of knowing a man like me intimately."
Emily didn’t need to think hard to understand the twisted depths of his words.
"Get your hands off me, you freak! Get your hands off me!" She thrashed frantically, but her wrists were cuffed behind her back and her arms bound tightly to her body with thick rope, so all she managed was nearly toppling the chair until he pressed down on it, pinning her in place again.
"I don’t care if you die in the process. This child will be birthed to me."
She wiggled, trying to shrug his hand away all to no avail, then she gnashed her teeth irritably. "If you think Kelsie’s going to let you do whatever you want with me, you’re very wrong!"
The man shrugged and straightened to his full height.
"That child is nothing like her mother. In fact, were her mother still alive, even she wouldn’t be able to do anything against the man I’ve become."
"Why do you think I’ve been tasked with bringing her in? Because the other families, no matter how powerful they believe themselves to be, can’t really do much. They’re still too afraid to answer to the older families for their mistakes."
"But me? I’m military. I can use a gun on anyone, and no one will dare question me for it."
The next second, his voice dropped to a low growl.
"Lois Fletcher didn’t perform a single good deed for me while she was alive, but I’m not one to hold grudges."
"That’s why I’ve made up my mind to send her her child and grandchildren once they take my bait and step foot into Lioren."
