Chapter 275 Send Her Aunt’s Finger In A Box
Chapter 275 Send Her Aunt’s Finger In A Box
"Let me see the prescription you have."
Kelsie’s voice was the first thing Molly heard as she stepped into the practice filled with people.
She was stunned to see almost thirty people standing in a line.
"Hey, no cutting!" A customer yelled, gnashing his teeth impatiently when he saw Molly ignoring the queue and heading straight to the counter.
Throwing a stent glance his way, she mummed, "I’m just here to speak to my sister."
When she got to the front, Kelsie stood behind the pharmacy she didn’t remember the practice having.
Kelsie watched her approach from hindsight but didn’t said nothing as she handed a bag of drugs to the elderly woman in front.
"Is this everything in the prescription?" The woman questioned, clutching her leather bag feebly.
Kelsie hummed.
"It is, ma’am. Enjoy the rest of the day, and don’t forget to look twice before crossing the road."
Hearing her, the woman’s wrinkled face slowly stretched into a bright smile.
"I will, Dr. Sutton. Enjoy the rest of your day too."
Then she moved out of line, turning around to leave.
Placing both hands on the divider, Molly traced her fingers to her jawline before grimacing, "That’s a lot of people you have here today."
Without so much as a glance in her direction, Kelsie began attending to the next person.
Having expecting the silent treatment, Molly thinned her lips and leaned forward, "I know you have things to say about me and possibly about why I did what I did, but I want you to know that the things I did were only natural for someone who wants to live a long life."
"It’s been three days since the incident at the Adler family home, and one of their grandsons hasn’t left his room once. Hell, he hasn’t even opened the door or had a sip of water."
"Now, while his death from starvation may benefit me, I’m not comfortable with the household being run by Craig Adler and his son."
Despite this, Kelsie still didn’t acknowledge her and just kept tending to customers.
When she got to the fifth person, she looked the girl over sternly, then lowered her eyes to the crumpled prescription she handed her.
"What are you doing? H-hurry up and get me that drug." The young girl stuttered, her eyes darting frequently toward the door.
Maybe it was her stature, but she was lean and small. So Kelsie was hesitant not knowing her age.
But when her gaze lingered on the lady, she few uncomfortable and lowered her eyes, her right hand slipping into her collar where she began to vigorously scratch the back of her neck.
"Can I see some ID?" She finally asked, and the woman visibly flinched before gritting her teeth irritably.
"What is this? I’ve been here several minutes and not once have I heard you ask anyone else for ID. Are you racially profiling me?"
"Racially profiling you? You’re the same color as her, you idiot." Molly couldn’t resist the urge to roll her eyes as she scoffed.
Unlike Kelsie, her voice wasn’t as gentle.
Thus, the customer was a little flustered and retorted more calmly, almost pleading, "Then why won’t she give me the pills? Could it be because I look younger than my age?"
Molly turned toward the girl and her eyes widened slightly.
Oh, so that’s why Kelsie wasn’t going through with the prescription.
Not only was this person scratching the back of her neck, but her collar wasn’t covering the area properly, revealing it was already bloody.
Lowering her gaze to her fingers, she sucked in her teeth when she noticed the thick blood under her nails.
So the scratching didn’t start now.
Her lips were also pale, and the dark circles around her eyes were far deeper than anything makeup could create.
To top it off, she could barely remain standing and shivered from cold despite the warm room.
While Molly was still analyzing her, Kelsie crumpled the prescription into a ball and tossed it into the bin beside her foot.
Afterward, she lifted her head to the woman, her expression remaining stoic. "To tell you the truth, I’d call the police because this looks like you stole someone’s prescription."
"And yes, I can tell, because I served that person less than thirty minutes ago. I remember clearly."
"Go sleep off your withdrawals somewhere. If you keep making trouble for me, you’ll leave me no choice but to call the police."
Sure enough, at the threat of police being involved, the customer scampered away without another word.
About fifteen minutes later, Kelsie was done with the customers.
Frustrated at not getting a response from her all these while, Molly resorted to following her around, doing random things in hopes she’d respond all to no avail.
Finally, it was time to go. After the staff had closed up and left, Kelsie finally turned to Molly, who had followed her to the car.
"You shouldn’t have come to the party."
Hearing her, Molly was taken aback.
All this was because she came to the party and not because of the things she said? Or did she mishear?
By the time she thought to ask for clarification, Kelsie had already gotten into her car and driven off.
As she headed home, In Lioren, the heads of the current top four families were gathered around a round table.
The dim lighting made it difficult to see their faces, but it was bright enough to show it was a woman and three men who played cards as they conversed.
The first man to speak sighed warily. "I heard about the Langford family’s Molinda made a big speech asking her to return to Lioren."
"If Lois’ spawn comes back and marries into the Reed family, other families will rally behind them, and we’ll be kicked to the curb again."
The woman nodded. "That’s exactly why I asked to have this meeting."
To this, the two men smacked their lips simultaneous, glanced at each other and laughed, the echo of their mild laughter bouncing around the empty room.
"After so many years, we’ve gone from a top-tier family to an Elite family with the whole country worshiping at our feet. Having tasted that, I don’t want to be anything else."
"Being at the top is wonderful and I want to remain here. I don’t care what I have to do to get it."
"That’s why I’ve come up with a plan for us to remain at the top." The first man to spoke, shrugged.
At this, the other three turned to him, ears ready in anticipation.
"It’s simple, really. Instead of marrying into that other family, we have her marry into mine, and we arrange for her children to be betrothed to the grandchildren of each of yours."
The trio glanced at each other before they leaned back on their seats once again.
"You seem to forget we have nothing of value she could possibly want."
The room was only plunged into silence for a moment before the man, who presented the idea, chuckled.
"I hear she has an aunt who took care of her back then. But they’re not related at all. The woman’s just indebted to Lois and practically became a mother to Kelsie in her absence."
"With the maternal love Kelsie has developed toward her, what do you think will happen if we send her aunt’s finger to her in a box?"
