Oops, Mommy Slept With A Tyrant

Chapter 274 Molly’s Sudden Contingency

Chapter 274 Molly’s Sudden Contingency

Kelsie froze, her pupils dilating in surprise.

Jett knew her mother?

Haven’s Medical Center was a big hospital, so she had never even considered the possibility that a shareholder would know anything about Lois.

To avoid attracting the Langston family’s attention, her mother did her best to keep a low profile despite the name she made for herself.

But... for some reason Molly knew about, Jett knew her?

"Before you accuse my grandson of anything, who exactly is this Lois Fletcher I keep hearing about?" Jack frowned hard, his brows raised in question as he broke the tense silence.

Molly crossed her arms, her lips pulling into a broad smile, "I’d tell you, elderly Mr. Adler, but it’d be better if your grandson did the honors."

At this, all eyes shifted to Jett, but he merely stood there, his face utterly blank.

The ticking of the various wall clocks stationed around the room echoed alongside their heartbeats, heavy in everyone’s ears as they waited for Jett to speak.

When thirty seconds passed in silence, Jack’s eyes dimmed.

He knew his grandson well enough to realize the only reason he wasn’t saying anything was because he didn’t want to lie and he didn’t want to say the truth either.

In the midst of all these, Craig Adler saw an opportunity to lay claim to Adler Group’s Chairman position and stepped forward.

"I hate to butt in, Father, but if Jett is hiding something this important and won’t speak up... don’t you think he could’ve hidden other important things from us?"

Before Jack could say anything, Colton leaned back in his seat with a soft laugh.

"So tightlipped. I must say, he’s quite something. There’s no way he didn’t know Kelsie is Lois Fletcher’s daughter as they share the same features."

"Kelsie, doesn’t it make your skin crawl recalling you live with your children in the same house as this man?"

"I mean... besides knowing his family, what else do you really know about him that the rest of the world doesn’t already know?"

Hearing him, Craig’s features lit up with a smile.

His father and nephew were treading carefully around these people, so he had the gut feeling they weren’t as simple as they seemed.

They weren’t ordinary. And they had it out for his archenemy.

Didn’t that make them his friends?

Relaxing his tense posture, he stroked the stubble on his jaw for a moment before throwing a stern glance Colton’s way.

"If you have any proof my nephew did something... then I implore you to show it to everyone here."

The attention once again shifted from Jett to Colton.

The man chuckled, parting his lips to retort when Kelsie’s cheeks suddenly pulled back into a faint smile, her eyes hardening a little.

"It’s been a long night, and it’s getting late. I’ll take my kids home now so they can get enough rest tonight."

At this, the triplets’ eyes snapped toward her, all three instinctively moving closer at the look in her eyes.

Whatever emotion it was, they couldn’t tell as it was their first time seeing it.

Without another word, she took their hands and quietly led them out of the party.

Seconds after she left, the party continued and the Adler family disappeared once again.

And just like that, the guests’ conversations shifted toward everything they’d just heard, with both those who heard everything at the from and those who heard nothing at the back, making up various theories.

Nevertheless, the party lasted well until early morning.

Serbian Howard left with the guests, while Molly, the butler, and Colton Reed lingered around the Adler estate.

"Not only did you ruin such an important day for my grandmother... now you’re hanging around?" Daniel couldn’t hold it in anymore and hissed while the entire family ate breakfasts at the dining that morning.

Colton, still Molly’s hostage, was the only one seated at the dining table while she and the butler kept watch over the estate.

Peeking through the window blinds, Molly chuckled. "Apologies. A rare trait runs in my family where instead of talking things out, we tend to get violent."

"Aunt Fletcher and her daughter seem to share the same dangerous taste in who also share a tad bit of this trait. I may have partially gotten the first on my side...But the one upstairs? I fear him terribly."

A maid pushing a trolley passed by at this moment and Selene called her over.

As she approached, the entire family craned their necks as Selene took off covers.

Her eyes fell sadly seeing none of the food was touched. Not even the water was drank.

While everyone worried about his well-being, two people saw it as an even bigger opportunity.

While Bryce leaned back, Craig took the podium, sucking in a deep breath before he spoke.

"Father... what do we do about the company? Jett hasn’t said a word since last night, and now he won’t eat."

"Adler Group needs a leader in his right mind. At least until my nephew’s ready to continue serving the company again, I should take over as its head."

Upon hearing him, Jack set down his cutlery and cast a glance Craig’s way, narrowing his eyes at him thoughtfully.

Craig hurriedly sat up when he caught the thoughtful look in his father’s eyes, elated to see he was considering it.

But a moment later, Jack withdrew his gaze and picked up his cutlery again stiffly.

"You’re incompetent, Craig."

The blunt words caught everyone by surprise.

Craig was genuinely stunned. "Wh-what do you mean by that, Father?"

"Grandfather," Bryce interjected in a shaky voice, his eyes darting between the two nervously, "Father’s been working his whole life preparing to lead this company. You may not trust him now, but I know he’ll do a good job running it."

Jack was silent for a moment before he glanced toward Daniel, "Contact Eric. Until

Jett’s ready to speak to anyone, I’ll be heading the company myself."

The words had barely rolled off his tongue when Craig suddenly got on his feet to pour him tea, a wide smile softening his frown.

"Father, I think Eric should stay by Jett’s side during these... weak times. If you need someone to assist you, I’m at your beck and call."

The entire room was stunned.

Daniel was speechless for a moment before he shrugged and dropped his phone.

Well...maybe getting dismissed like that woke him up, so he decided to keep sucking up to him until he got him to change his mind. Typical Craig.

Selene and Bryce likely thought the same.

However, the three people from Lioren exchanged knowing glances.

It wasn’t knowledge people took pride in having, but many were well aware of what a frustrated supposed heir might do when denied a position they believed they deserved.

Glancing toward the stairs, Molly squinted her eyes.

She really didn’t plan for this, but if Jett didn’t talk things out with Kelsie in three days, she’d need to be hundreds of miles away from Silicon Valley before the death of Jack Adler broke the news.
