Chapter 272 Finally Outing Their Identities
Chapter 272 Finally Outing Their Identities
Kelsie, however, had once again gotten distracted when she saw a group of people walk in together.
Molly caught her looking and eagerly waved at her.
She ignored her, shifting her gaze to Colton trying to understand why it looked like he was being held hostage.
Given how he had both hands in front of him, covered with a cloth, she couldn’t help recalling what had fallen from him earlier.
First, Serbian knew him, then Molly and Maxwell Kensington’s lawyer.
"What is going on here? Since when do we have young ones in our Adler family?" Boyce’s high-pitched voice instantly reminded Kelsie of where she was.
By this time, the guests and everyone else had their eyes on the triplets.
Under the weight of this attention, Zade and Keira pushed Jesse in front and hid behind his back, simultaneously poking out their heads to look around.
Jesse had most of his face lowered, the upper part containing his eyes being the only thing people could see.
This little action of the children squirming behind Jesse warmed Selene’s heart, and she almost sighed.
How adorable. If only any one of her grandsons were responsible enough to start a family and have little ones like this, she’d be the happiest woman on earth.
Boyce was simply stupid, and they didn’t trust his choice in women at all as it was no secret he often paid them to be with him.
Daniel, on the other hand, didn’t care enough to do such.
His brother Jett was the worst of them as he hadn’t looked at a woman in years.
And now that he did, he decided to go for a woman with three children. With three children already in the house, she doubted either he or Kelsie would want to have more.
Raising her eyes, she stared into Kelsie’s face, then shifted her gaze toward Keira.
How cute, taking after her mother.
How unfortunate she would never find it in her heart to accept them into the family. Not that she had anything against the children but the Adler family needed to preserve their roots.
Since Jett was next in line to be family head after his grandfather, she couldn’t afford to let the children of another man be raised in the Adler household. let alone run Adler Group in the future.
Beside her, Jack pursed his lips.
This wasn’t the grand reveal he’d prepared, but after waiting for his wife to squeal with joy and seeing her only get sadder, he was confused.
Did he do something wrong not telling her beforehand?
Perhaps he should’ve come with a DNA report of the triplets to prove they were Jett’s and not some...
"Aha! I see what’s going on here!" All of a sudden, Boyce clapped loudly, snickering as he stepped toward the triplets.
As natural enemies since birth, Daniel narrowed his eyes at him and stepped in front of the triplets protectively.
At this, Boyce stopped walking, the corners of his lips twitching in amusement as he shifted his attention to Kelsie.
"I’m right, aren’t I?"
Daniel’s gaze sharpened, partly disturbed by the gleam in Boyce’s eyes.
"It surprises me how you’re the only dumb one in the family. It’s so bad you find it difficult to be sensible even for a moment."
Getting provoked, Boyce glared at him, "I was going to talk about what I just noticed in private, but since you brought them here, I’ll say it now."
"Stop talking nonsense and just get to the point," Daniel hissed irritably.
Like he had just uncovered some great secret, Boyce turned to Selene solemnly, "Grandmother, I know what you think is happening here, but I’m going to tell you, it’s not."
"Those kids are Kelsie Sutton’s, so they’re essentially Jett’s in the futurec but do you notice anything about one of them?"
Boyce rarely made sense, but this time, he sounded like he actually knew what he was talking about. Naturally, everyone tuned in.
Selene’s brows knitted into a tight frown as she looked over the children. This time, she noticed all three had blue eyes—like her husband and grandsons.
But blue eyes meant nothing. They were rare, but not impossible to pass on to offspring as long as one of a great-grand parent had it.
So she moved on to Keira, then to Jesse—who was still watching her apprehensively, his face mostly lowered.
Zade’s face being the only one clearly visible finally made her see what Boyce was hinting at.
A few guests realized it too and gasped.
"No way! Doesn’t that kid look like Daniel Adler?"
"Now that you say it, he does!"
"The resemblance is too uncanny not to mean anything. Is it possible he belongs to..."
Kelsie had heard this insinuation twice in one week and didn’t plan to hear it to the end.
Thankfully, she still had the DNA results in her hand.
However, as she tore it open to hand it over, Craig huffed.
"Oh, Jett, how does it feel to get stabbed and feel the knife twist in your back?"
Jett didn’t spare him a glance, his eyes pinned on Jesse.
Why was his human DNA hiding his face? One look at him and everyone would realize how ridiculous they were being.
And to think Jesse had been the most excited to meet Selene—now, all of a sudden, the enthusiasm had vanished?
Seeing how silent Jett was being, Craig grew smug, thinking he was right, and clicked his tongue angrily.
"Father, Jett seems to have lost his edge ever since meeting this woman. If you still don’t see a problem with all this, then it’s obvious—you’re nothing but a supporter of his, no matter how many wrong things he does."
"If the world finds out Daniel cuckolded the head of our Adler family and he didn’t do anything about it, imagine how everyone will begin to view us!"
"Hi, everyone. I’m Kelsie Sutton, and these are my children. I have..." Once the room fell silent again, Kelsie stepped forward, stretching the DNA result toward Selene.
But her words were cut short when Boyce, thinking she was only speeding up to hide what she did, reached out and tried to snatch the paper from her hand.
In doing so, he pulled on her injured hand, causing her to stumble forward, wincing until she grabbed onto Daniel for balance.
"Shameless! You’re one shameless woman, doing that right in front of my cousin and grandparents!" Without an ounce of guilt, Boyce hissed, pointing the report at her nose.
Jett’s eyes dimmed, and he stepped forward to speak up.
However, Kelsie snatched the paper back with her left hand and slapped it against Boyce’s head, chiding coolly, "You’re so much older than me, but even my kids have more respect than you do."
Instantly, his face reddened with anger.
A slap on the head was nothing short of humiliation. Yet this woman casually did it and even scolded him.
Gritting his teeth, he glared at her hostilely. "Respect? The only Adler family member who’ll take you seriously are my cousins whom you’ve clearly brainwashed!"
Kelsie ignored him and proceeded to approach Selene stealthily.
She stopped a few inches close to her and lowered her eyes respectfully, "Forgive me, Mrs. Adler. I should’ve introduced myself properly to you earlier. I’m Kelsie Sutton, and as everyone already knows, the kids behind me are mine."
"The matter of their biological father comes up every now and then, so I had this test done. Please take a look at it. You can decide afterward if you want me to leave."
It was a clever play on words.
A proud woman like Selene Arthur wasn’t going to read anything just because a woman, accused of playing two of her grandsons, asked her to.
But when Kelsie added she’d leave if Selene read it and decided so, she didn’t hesitate to take it.
The three minutes it took her to read and make sure she was assimilating the information correctly felt like an eternity for Boyce as he tapped his foot impatiently against the floor.
With his grandparents here, he couldn’t act recklessly and call security on Kelsie.
So he waited impatiently for Selene to raise her head and demand the removal of this shameless woman from the premises!
"Honey, what do you say about giving this stubborn grandson of mine a chance?" Lifting her head, Selene’s eyes welled with tears, her lips trembling slightly as she asked.
Kelsie almost took a step back, her brows furrowing into a frown.
She understood it was because of the kids, but what was it with these people and asking others to marry them?
"Yes, Grandmother! This wench doesn’t deserve to... wait, what?" Boyce began yelling triumphantly as soon as he heard her voice, but halfway through, he gasped in disbelief when her words sank in.
From across the room, Colton swiftly got on his feet, yelling, "Don’t be ridiculous! She can’t marry a city bumpkin from your Adler family when I’m here!"
