One Piece: New Order

Chapter 343 343: Evacuating Sabaody Archipelago

Chapter 343 343: Evacuating Sabaody Archipelago

Luffy looked unconvinced as he shook his head. "No way. Shanks said pirates are the freest people in this world. How could they just disappear?"

Zoro's mouth twitched faintly. The two of them were clearly not on the same wavelength, and trying to argue would only waste time.

"Whatever… it's pointless talking to you. Forget it. We need to hurry. If we don't reach the New World soon, you might not even get to see Shanks one last time…"

As he spoke, his right hand rested on the hilt of Wado Ichimonji, his grip tightening without him noticing.

'Kuina… wait for me…'

Luffy suddenly looked up in shock. "What!!! What happened to Shanks!!!"

He appeared in front of Zoro almost instantly, grabbing his collar and shaking him.

Veins bulged on Zoro's forehead as he kicked him away.

"Get off me!!!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The two started fighting again…

East Blue, Cocoyashi Village.

On a golden hill covered with orange trees, a young orange-haired girl quietly slipped into Bell-mère's room. She skillfully opened the drawer and placed a stack of Berry inside.

Just as she was about to leave, her eyes fell on the freshly harvested oranges by the door.

"Hehe…"

Grinning, she grabbed two bags and ran off.

At noon, when Bell-mère and Nojiko returned with two carts full of oranges, they had just set them down at the entrance when they noticed that two bags were missing.

Nojiko chuckled softly. "Looks like Nami came back again."

Everyone in the village knew each other, and only she would do something like this.

Bell-mère snorted. "At least she knows how to come back."

She walked into the house, opened the drawer, and, as expected, saw the Berry inside.

Snap.

She closed it and walked out, her expression indifferent. "She couldn't even say hello. Honestly… raised her for nothing."

Nojiko smiled. "That's because you won't let her go out to sea to draw maps. Of course it's awkward."

Bell-mère rolled her eyes, clearly irritated. "Go out to sea? Do you see how chaotic things are right now? With her little tricks, she can fool people in the village, but out there, who knows when she'll get sold off?"

Nojiko blinked in surprise. "Eh? It's not that serious, is it?"

Bell-mère scoffed. "Of course it is. That girl she brought back last time, what was her name… Carina. She's far more capable and cunning than her, and yet that fool still treats her like a friend."

Nojiko sighed. "Don't be so biased. I think that girl treats her quite well."

Bell-mère looked at her with frustration. "You got won over too?"

Nojiko spread her hands helplessly.

Two stubborn people…

Grand Line, Sabaody Archipelago.

Compared to its former bustling atmosphere, the place was much quieter now, though there were still quite a few people on the streets.

All the Marine soldiers stationed here had been sent out, moving in small groups through the streets with loudspeakers as they urged people to evacuate.

Inside the Marine base office, the retired Sengoku no longer bothered much with his appearance. His hair had naturally turned white, making him look older, and he had started snacking whenever he pleased, just like Garp.

He casually tossed a rice cracker into his mouth and glanced at Rosinante. "What brings you here today? Nothing going on at headquarters?"

Even though positions had changed, he still habitually referred to the current G-1 base as headquarters.

Rosinante gave a bitter smile. "Ah… nothing much. I just came out for a walk."

His situation was rather awkward. His talent was limited, and his strength was average at best. If he were thrown into the New World, that meat grinder, he might not even know when he would die. On top of that, he was the adopted son of the former Fleet Admiral.

Was someone supposed to assign a bodyguard just to protect him?

Sakazuki clearly had no time for that.

Sengoku understood this as well, so he had personally spoken to Sakazuki and arranged for Rosinante to stay at the Grand Line headquarters to assist Zephyr and Morris with some work.

But recently, those two had been working like they were on stimulants, taking on everything and finishing it quickly. As a result, Rosinante now had nothing to do and could only wander around.

Walking to the window, he looked at the soldiers moving in and out below, a hint of confusion in his eyes.

"What are they doing? I see a lot of soldiers going around the island telling people to leave. Are they trying to clear the whole place out?"

Sengoku tossed another rice cracker into his mouth and shook his head. "No idea. It was Sakazuki's order a few days ago. He's probably planning something."

He did not think much about it, nor did he want to. After decades of effort, it was time to rest.

But Rosinante's mouth twitched slightly as a bad feeling rose in his chest. "They're not planning to blow up the island… right?"

Young people and old people saw things differently. The younger generation both admired and feared Sakazuki, and based on his usual style, that guess struck uncomfortably close.

Crack.

The rice cracker in Sengoku's hand broke without him realizing it. He froze for a moment, his expression turning serious as his eyes narrowed.

"No… it's not that they wouldn't. With that man's personality, he's probably planning to blow it up…"

He had not thought that far before, but after hearing it, he instantly understood the intent.

Sakazuki had already pushed things to the extreme. The Poneglyph had been openly placed in the square of New Marineford, cutting off the dreams of most pirates.

And if Sabaody Archipelago were destroyed, then no one would be able to reach the New World anymore.

Chasing dreams? Could you dive ten thousand meters alone into the deep sea, or climb a ten-thousand-meter Red Line?

Not to mention, the World Government's headquarters sat right on top of it. That would just be seeking death.

But if Sabaody were destroyed, the consequences would be enormous. The New World would be completely cut off from the rest of the world, leaving no path forward.

Sengoku's expression grew grave as he reached for the Den Den Mushi and dialed.

* * *

New World, New Marineford.

Inside the Fleet Admiral's office, the Den Den Mushi rang.

Purururu~ Purururu~

Sakazuki glanced at it, and seeing it was Sengoku calling, he picked it up. After listening for a few seconds, he frowned slightly and cut him off.

"Inspector General Sengoku, I know exactly what I'm doing. I am the Fleet Admiral. All you need to do is… carry out orders."
