Jean Kensington, Chase Langdon, and the baby returned to the martial arts school.

Chloe Sterling had already left. In the main hall, siblings Claire and Asher White came to greet them.

"Master, Miss Kensington, Junior Brother."

Asher White ran over first, with Claire White following behind. She smiled faintly. "Big Brother Langdon, Miss Kensington."

Chase Langdon looked at the two of them. "What brings you two out in all this snow?"

Asher White chuckled. "This weather is perfect for hot pot, but it’s no fun with just my sister and me, so we came looking for you. Master, how about I treat everyone to hot pot tonight?"

Chase Langdon laughed. "As if I’d let my student treat me."

Asher White replied, "A hot pot dinner isn’t that expensive. I can afford it."

Chase Langdon said, "We were planning on having hot pot tonight, too. It’s great that you’re here—the more, the merrier. Oh? Where’s Chloe?"

"Ms. Chloe left," Claire said. "She asked me to let you know."

"She left? When?"

"Just a little while ago. An incredibly handsome man with a very powerful presence came to pick her up."

Chase Langdon raised an eyebrow. "No wonder."

’It must have been Jasper Lockwood who picked her up.’

Asher White asked curiously, "Master, was that Ms. Chloe’s boyfriend? He was so handsome!"

Chase Langdon retorted, "More handsome than your master?"

Asher White stammered, "Uh... just a tiny bit. But when it comes to martial arts, you’re definitely superior, Master."

Jean Kensington chuckled. "I wouldn’t be so sure about that."

Chase Langdon was speechless. "...Jean, please don’t say things like that in front of my student."

Jean Kensington’s lips curled into a slight smile. She decided to let him save face and changed the subject, turning to Claire White. "Are your leg and arm all right now?"

Claire White replied, "They haven’t healed completely, but I can walk a short distance without any problem. It’s all thanks to the medicine Miss Sterling gave me; it’s working exceptionally well."

Jean Kensington nodded. "That’s good."

Chloe Sterling looked over at Jasper Lockwood and suddenly asked, "Why did you leave the office so early today?"

"I was looking at the snow outside the window and suddenly thought of you," Jasper Lockwood said with a perfectly straight face.

Chloe Sterling was nonplussed. "...What does the snow have to do with me? How could it make you think of me?"

Jasper Lockwood chuckled softly. "Aren’t you just like the snow? Fair and cold."

Chloe Sterling scoffed lightly. "Then you’re quite a bit like the snow, too." After a pause, she asked, "Where are we going?"

"To the family estate," Jasper Lockwood said. "Grandfather wants to see us. He invited us over for dinner and to stay the night."

After a long moment of silence, Chloe Sterling suddenly blurted out, "He’s not going to make you drink those potent restorative soups again, is he?"

"He probably will."

"You shouldn’t drink them, then."

"And why is that?" Jasper Lockwood asked, a wicked smile playing on his lips.

Chloe Sterling replied, "...I’m worried you’ll get overheated."

Jasper Lockwood said languidly, "Don’t worry. You’re here to help with that, after all."

Chloe Sterling wanted to say more, but she glanced at Henry Chamberlain driving in the front and swallowed her words.

「That evening.」

Sure enough, an array of potent restorative soups was served at the dinner table in the Lockwood family estate.

It was just as Chloe Sterling had predicted. She shot a look at Jasper Lockwood, signaling for him not to drink the soup, but he proceeded to do so with great relish.

"By the way, I heard a shipment of red wine was hijacked by pirates. What happened?" Old Master Lockwood suddenly asked.

Jasper Lockwood put down his soup spoon. "Who told you that? I thought I told you to get some rest. Why are you still worrying about these things?"

"I just happened to overhear it. Is Serena Lockwood involved in this?"

"I’m not entirely sure myself. I’m still waiting for more information."

Old Master Lockwood suddenly let out a soft sigh. "Things have been hard on you lately."

Jasper Lockwood looked at his grandfather. "What’s gotten into you today? This isn’t your usual style."

At that, the old master’s expression changed abruptly. "You little brat! Here I am, showing you some concern, and you’re making fun of me!"

Jasper Lockwood’s lips curved slightly. ’Now *that* was more like his grandfather.’

After a pause, the old master cleared his throat, looked at Chloe Sterling, and added, "There’s one more thing. I heard that Chloe has been working for the Nocturne Group lately. Is that true?"

Chloe Sterling nodded. "Yes, it’s true."

The old master looked at her, then back at Jasper Lockwood, and declared, "So that Coldwell fellow not only has a grudge against you, he’s also trying to steal Chloe from you!"

Chloe Sterling was speechless.

Jasper Lockwood was also speechless.

"You brat, what were you thinking? How could you handle it like this! How could you let Chloe make a deal with him? What are you going to do if he steals your wife?"

Chloe Sterling was at a loss for words.

"It has nothing to do with him," Chloe explained. "I made the deal with Silas Coldwell behind his back. He didn’t know about it at first."

Jasper Lockwood immediately spoke up. "I’m the one who didn’t handle this well."

After a moment’s pause, the old master continued, "Chloe, you two are a married couple. You need to discuss things together. Don’t keep secrets from one another; it will affect your relationship."

Chloe Sterling nodded. "Yes, I won’t from now on."

Jasper Lockwood said, "Grandfather, this is our own affair. We’ll handle it."

The old master pressed, "So what are Silas Coldwell’s intentions? Does he expect Chloe to work for the Nocturne Group indefinitely? Is he still after her?"

’His grandson’s wife is actually the famous top-level pharmacist, Lynn Chester! There are countless factions who would covet her. She absolutely cannot be stolen away!’

Chloe Sterling explained, "No. He helps me conceal my identity, and in return, I help him complete a research project. Once that’s done, our deal is over."

"It’s that simple?" Old Master Lockwood sounded unconvinced. "I’ve heard that man is extremely vicious. He has a grudge against Jasper, and Jasper has already won you over. Would he really help you two so easily?"
