Chapter 590: Demons & Dragons 2.
The young man greeted the giant Dragon, and only then did he realize that the soul of the dragon was communicating with him in the soul sea. This was normal, after all, the dragon had fallen long ago, but even then the pressure from this soul was so strong that with just one snort it could kill Hao Ren.
The young man didn’t dare to be pretentious. The Dragon replied, "My name is Sekhmet, I was the Dragon of justice and the last one of my race to dwell on this plain."
Hao Ren bowed and greeted again, this time using the true name. The Dragon Soul continued, "You seem to have killed a lot of demons, and also comprehended the laws of slaughter to some extent. Good, you have worked hard. No wonder fate has led you here."
Hao Ren was confused and asked, "Forgive me for speaking out of term, Senior, but what do you mean by the fate calling me over here."
Sekhmet replied, "Fate works in ways that are beyond the comprehension of a mortal being, even I don’t know how to explain it. However, you qualify as the vessel that would fulfil the prophecy. The warrior would stand up and face the Archdemon. That old hateful thing you saw buried in the ground, that is the Archdemon you need to kill."
Hao Ren was shocked and then he gave out a bitter smile before he said, "Senior, please don’t joke like that. I don’t even have the strength to withstand the destructive aura give off by that finger bone and you want me to face the Archdemon. How is that possible?"
The dragon replied with a calm expression, ’Because behind you stands the goddess."
Hao Ren was surprised, he could understand that their was only one person behind him. That was Han Lingshi, how did she become a goddess? The young man asked, "What do you mean by that Senior?"
Sekhmet replied with a sigh, "Some secrets cannot be unraveled just because we want to, and some fates cannot be seen through either."
Hao Ren took a deep breath and nodded, he knew that it was a waste of time for him to ask such questions and he should focus on more productive questions. The young man asked, "Senior, what is even this place? How can I fight the Archdemon? I mean, we have been fighting them for a long time but we have never managed to gain an upper hand. They have been feeding on the blood and soul of the humans in this realm. I wanted to find out what this place was when I came in here."
Sekhmet nodded and replied, "That is the right way to handle things. This place that you call the Eternal Battlefield, is actually a prison that was created to keep that Archdemon sealed. Every city that you see is a hotspot array that is keeping that thing sealed under the ground and that is why his minions are using all the methods they can to destroy the cities and release him. This knowledge was sacred and it didn’t make through because these demons broke the heavenly pact by paying a big prize.
They are only fifty percent of what they used to be, and the reason they are making such an effort to take down humans is because once that thing comes to life, his blood would be able to contend against the heavenly limitations on them and regain their strength. At that time, not only will the immortal realm will be bathed in blood even the mortals will suffer the fate worse than death."
Hao Ren gulped, because this picture was rather scary. He asked, "Senior, what can I do about this?"
Sekhmet revealed an expression, akin to a smile and said, "You will have to merge those halos and refine them into a crown, you would need to become a saint king. Then you would need the cultivation that is at least Heavenly emperor. For that, you might have to spill oceans of blood and climb the mountains of corpse. Then, you might have a chance to win against that bastard. However, that is when you do things alone. If the goddess behind you managed to join you in the campaign then chances of victory would be fairly balanced."
Hao Ren nodded and replied, "I see, thank you for your guidance, Senior Sekhmet."
The Dragon nodded and said, "The Archdemon will not come out of his grave as long as you have twelve cities under control. You need to hold them like your life is depended on that."
After nodding, Hao Ren sighed and said, "Looks like I would have to take some dire steps to move forward."
Sekhmet hummed and then said, "Young human, my time has come, so let me give you the last of what is left in me, that way, you would grow stronger than what you are at the moment."
That said, Sekhmet began to transform in dust particles and his voice echoed, "Fight well, and stand tall, young human."
Then a strong wave of soul energy hit Hao Ren, the young man reeled and then he found out a lot of knowledge inside this wave of energy. His mind was filled with a lot of cultivation arts, and martial arts. He also had high level spiritual skills in his mind and the young man was surprised, he could not understand what he was going to do with these but he realized that all these skills were focused on demon suppression.
The spiritual skills were named like, "Demon Suppression Fist, Demon Suppression Sword, etc."
Hao Ren even found a recipe for pills that could prevent the people getting infected from the Demon Energy. This was good, if he managed to promote this to the rest of the people he would be able to put up a force that could walk through the demon hordes with ease. Another thing that he would need to pay attention to was how to capture the twelve cities and make sure that they stay under human command. His Ye Generals were about to get some work.
Another thing that echoed in his mind was the echo of the Dragon Soul, "Young Human, after my soul is gone, take away all my scales. It might not be much, but they can still make a thousand armors. Take away my bones and infuse them in the swords and weapons that you make. They will help you deal with the demons even better. I will consider this as my last stand against that bastard who took down my master."
Hao Ren was surprised, but he took a deep breath, he didn’t expect Sekhmet to be so dedicated to this thought of killing the Archdemon. He took a deep breath and replied, "I shall do as you have instructed, Senior."
Then he turned around to look at the dragon keel and then collected it in his space ring. Although the space was now cramped, but it was still enough for him to carry the keel inside. Then he took a deep breath before setting off to the exit. The exit was simple, and then Hao Ren headed back to his city.
....
Han Lingshi had finished her cultivation session, and came out of seclusion. For the past few days, she has killed a lot of demons. The count was rising so high that she had gained enough merit to climb up to the level of the Heavenly General. She was faster than Hao Ren in this particular aspect. However, she was not as strong as him and she knew about it. Just when she was about to head out, she spotted a figure flying over. She stopped and asked, "Ren, how come you are back so soon."
Hao Ren sighed and said, "We need to call for a meeting and it is all high level battle meeting. The situation in this world has changed."
Han Lingshi detected the urgency in his voice and nodded before she quickly called over all the Ye Generals inside the city. They moved quickly and after an hour they were sitting in the huge meeting hall of the Floating Palace. Hao Ren said, "We have a situation. I can explain to you but I would have Xiao Mei give you the details on your comms for now, rush out, and secure twelve cities and also check on Jana, take him in the loop."
The Ye Generals have never seen Hao Ren this serious and the mission sounded a bit too serious. Then he took a deep breath and raised his finger before imparting the techniques to them directly. The people were surprised and Hao Ren said, "That is all, go and get things done. Also, the second generation, Ye Hai."
Ye Hai was Ye Peng’s eldest disciple, he stepped up and bowed his head and Hao Ren said, "If any of you died, I will drag your souls back from hell and whip your asses like theres no tomorrow. I hope you understand what I mean. If you chased glory blindly, only death will welcome you. Get it."
Ye Hai nodded and said, "We will be cautious and abide by your advice, Lord."
Hao Ren waved his hand and the people rushed out, while Han Lingshi sighed, "One after the other, something keeps coming up. When can we be at peace?"
Hao Ren sighed and hugged her, as he said, "One day for sure."
