Chapter 578: Realizations.
Chapter 578: Realizations.
Hao Ren began to fight with the demon soldiers and used his fists to confront the enemy before him, and his efficiency was strong. As he moved he left behind a twisted and torn corpse. His punches were changing. Sometimes he used claws and sometimes it was straight palm. The young man slayed hundreds and thousands before the halo behind him began to flicker again. It was not that he was doing it deliberately but it was just that his state of mind didn’t leave much time for him to control it.
This was the only halo that was showing but since he didn’t have any room to control it yet, and from the nature of the halo it was sure that he would not be able to get control over this even in the future. The nature of this Halo was rather wild. After several minutes and a hundred or some kills later, he heard a loud roar. Then he chuckled and said, "Oh, so you have a big guy here, come and catch me if you can, dog."
The next moment, Hao Ren began to run from the demons rather swiftly. However, he made sure that he still left the demons a hope that they could catch him. Hao Ren was cunning, and while he was running, he made sure that the rest of the group got the message. He took out a small jade stone and cracked it using his strength.
...
Ye Si was fighting a bunch of Demons that had a head shaped like a dog, when she sensed the jade in her space ring shatter, and she let out a sharp whistle. The next moment, all the people of the raiding team began to pull back. The signal had arrived, they travelled in the direction of their campsite. This group of people had all mastered the art of kiting. Just as soon as the demons slowed down, Ye Ling would come up on the rear and shot out some arrows that would lodge directly in the skulls of the demons.
This harrassment was rather infuriating to these people. They chased after these dozen of humans with a higher pace. The chase continued for several days, because they were deliberately keeping themselves on the ground. They were not flying because that way they would reach the meeting point earlier that Hao Ren.
...
Hao Ren was kiting with a good pace, and after a week of travel, Hao Ren saw a few figures running over as they kicked up the clouds of dust behind them. He raised his hand and used the communicator as he said, "I have around ten thousand demon soldiers behind me. What about you lot?"
Ye Peng replied from the other side, "Twenty thousand, these guys are not soldiers but they are a chaotic band."
Hao Ren replied, "Fine, we switch the targets, cross each other, and I will handle the bunch behind you, and you guys handle these soldiers."
Ye Peng agreed to this task after all, they were also higher in number, and their cultivation level was also higher than Hao Ren, so it was an easy thing for them.
...
After three minutes, Hao Ren passed the group of Ye Generals. The moment Hao Ren closed up to the demons following the Ye Generals, he took out his hammer, and this time he didn’t take out the small hammer used for forging artifacts, but he took out a war hammer that Agnee had forged for him. Then he turned into a proper bulldozer that crushed the swaths of demons with single hit. The ground was shaking from the impact of the hammer.
The winds moved so quickly around Hao Ren because the hammer created a huge pressure around him. The red halo behind his back was shimmering once again, and as he killed the people, something had changed in the halo, it was looking even more condensed.
Hao Ren felt like the more he killed the closer he got to the surface of slaughter Dao, however, he failed to notice that the demons around him were getting increasingly frantic, because for them, the condensed halo was something sacred. All their Demon Commanders had a crown that was condensed from the bloods of their kills.
Hao Ren fought crazily, and on the other side, the Ye Generals used coordinated attacks to handle the demon soldiers as well. It was shocking for Jana, who was standing in the void, as they said, "How are these people so crazy good when it comes to fighting?"
Ye Jian was also standing beside him, and replied, "Look at Young Master, we were raised by him and he led us to unite the entire continent. We have fought so much that it has become a second instinct for us."
Jana looked at him and while he wanted to say something, he could not bring himself into it. The battle on the ground continued and sometimes Ye Jian made a move and protected the disciples who were about to face a mortal attack. Jana aasked, "Why do you only act when a disciple is in danger?"
Ye Jian smiled bitterly and said, "I had a disciple, my only one, he was a good boy, but I failed to save him. The toll of that incident was so heavy that it shattered my Dao Heart, and I gave up on my sword. I cannot let these guys bear that pain and suffer that fate."
After saying that he just turned around to look at the battle, always ready to attack whenever a disciple was in need.
...
On the other hand, Hao Ren was a completely crazy. His senses had already turned numb, all that remained in his mind was the instinct to fight. The demons were beginning to flinch whenever they locked eyes with Hao Ren. His gaze had turned so cold as if he was not looking at living demons, they were already dead to him. This was the level of his indifference, however, he was not yet dead in his thoughts.
He was thinking about what was happening to him on a subconscious level. As an alchemist, he had long ago mastered his subconscious. While refining the pills he had pondered over the Dao as well, this was something similar to him. After an unknown time of thinking and fighting something clicked to him. He realized that he had already touched upon the surface of Slaughter Dao, the moment he perceived the situation in the city and condensed his Halo, the minor success has already been achieved.
Now, while he was fighting, his emotions were running numb, but his thoughts were awake. His body reactions were quicker and his efficiency was higher as well. This was a state of concentration that many people longed to master in the cultivation world, however, the emotions of a human were also a shackle that held them back. While that may be true, without the emotions a human was nothing and so this was a paradox.
Hao Ren realized the truth, and suddenly, he registered that the demons were no longer attacking him, they were hesitating. He had no idea why this was happening, and he had not even realized that he had killed around half of the demons already.
Yes, half of the twenty thousand demons have died under his attacks. Hao Ren shivered and he stood up straight with a war hammer in his hand. As he looked around, he found that the sun had already set. Looking at his communicator, Hao Ren found that he had already been fighting for three days, and three nights.
The demons were scared of approaching him, and the system said, *You should now use your flames and get rid of these people, anymore fighting and you might lose your mind to fall in the paranoia.*
Hao Ren nodded and sighed before he stretched his body and then cast a flame cloud. The demons were reduced to ashes. Then he turned around to look at the people from the Ye General group who were sitting on the ground, and chatting with leisure. Hao Ren walked over and sat down on the ground beside Ye Peng, and the latter said, "Young Master, can you put away your red Halo? This is crazy terrifying."
Hao Ren was surprised and then he realized that his Slaughter Halo was still raditing the terrible aura of killing around him, and he closed his eyes to try and control this thing. After several hours, he managed to calm down, and opened his eyes, the people were calm now, they had better expressions on their faces, and Jana asked, "What do you feel now, Hao Ren?"
The young man thought for a bit and said, "I feel better."
However, his eyes still retained some of the indifference that he felt during the battle. Hao Ren didn’t know how to process this situation but he knew that it was not right, that he needed to handle this and research about this. He sighed and decided to take out some of the resources in exchange of his merit and get stronger first.
