Chapter 1516 - 814: Coordinates

In the morning, Jimmy smiled as he looked at the computer screen. While he was on the phone with Nia last night, little Liam had fallen asleep. This morning when he woke up, he was still grumpy, so Jimmy made another video call to Nia. Luckily, the little guy was awake, and seeing him through the screen, even though Liam couldn't speak, made Jimmy happy.

The little guy could only wave his little hands and feet now, making some sounds like "uh-huh", and occasionally his laughter would bring joy to Nia and Jimmy. Although Liam clearly didn't understand why his dad's face appeared on the laptop screen, he kept reaching out to try and grab it.

Jimmy was pointing at the screen and making funny faces when his phone rang.

His smile disappeared immediately; the call couldn't have come at a worse time. However, seeing the number, Jimmy picked it up. "Agent Yang, something's off. I think you might be interested."

Jimmy said, "Hold on. Nia, I have to deal with a case, I'll hang up now. Alright, go ahead."

The surveillance team said, "I just got two pieces of news, Gus has left home, but he didn't head to the restaurant; he went south. And half an hour ago, Jesse didn't drive his own car, but instead, he got into that old guy Mike's car and left, also heading south. Our people are following, and now they've already left Albuquerque."

Jimmy: "Do you know their destination? Where's the team now?"

"They've reached Sandoz Town and are continuing south. We suspect they might keep going south."

Jimmy: "I'm heading out now. Keep updating the location."

After hanging up, Jimmy quickly changed his clothes, grabbed his gear, and left. From Albuquerque to the US-Mexico border isn't too far. If Gus and his team continue heading south, they could easily reach the border. For drug traffickers, traversing the US-Mexico border is quite easy.

The US-Mexico border isn't strictly monitored for people leaving the United States for Mexico; the focus is on those entering the US from Mexico. So, just holding a passport makes crossing easy. And for drug traffickers, there are many ways to return from Mexico to the US: forging identities, tunneling secretly, or even simply crossing the river—all are straightforward as long as they avoid the border patrol.

Just last night, Jimmy had agitated Gus, and today Gus is leaving Albuquerque. This is definitely not good news. Jimmy initially planned to provoke him to expose his drug manufacturing or trafficking routes. Directly fleeing would ruin everything; if Gus doesn't come back, Jimmy's efforts would have been for nothing.

It's not just Gus, but now they have the security chief Mike and a meth cook Jesse Pinkman. Everything looks like they're trying to preserve their drug-making capabilities and open a second lab in Mexico.

Jimmy was driving the DEA car as fast as he could, heading south. Thankfully, it was still early, and traffic wasn't too heavy, at least not affecting his actions much.

The phone rang again. The head of the surveillance team informed Jimmy that their people were attacked by an oncoming car. After they stopped to evade, they lost track of Gus.

Jimmy checked his position; he wasn't far from where they got attacked. He decided to go directly to check it out.

Because the surveillance team needed to use equipment and remain in the vehicle for extended periods, they usually used large trucks. By the time Jimmy arrived, the truck had already stopped by the roadside. On the side of the vehicle were a few bullet holes, and the driver's side window was cracked. "How are you guys? Any injuries?"

The three members of the surveillance team shook their heads: "We already checked. None of us were shot; we just stumbled within the cabin. The target's lost, and the attack was likely orchestrated to intercept us."

Jimmy: "Did you identify the attackers? What about the license plate number?"

"Fake plates—already checked."

Gus hadn't been gone for long. Jimmy thought it over and had them temporarily return while he continued the pursuit himself.

The desert road was relatively easy to follow, but even though traffic was light, determining Gus's position was challenging, especially since he had gained some lead.

On such a straight road, Jimmy hit the pedal to the metal, passing truck after truck and car after car, racing towards El Paso.

Gus and his team clearly didn't expect someone like Jimmy. Just before they were about to reach El Paso, Jimmy closed in behind them. However, from behind, he couldn't recognize their convoy. It was only after overtaking the last car in front that he realized the driver was old Mike, with Jesse sitting in the passenger seat.

Vehicles racing on the road stood out, and as Jimmy passed by, Old Mike turned his head for a glance, initially indifferent. Then he noticed the car slowing down, quickly driving alongside, and afterward continuing to follow him.

Mike rolled his eyes. He had already recognized Jimmy; the Asian guy in a suit was now their primary concern. Even though he couldn't see the face clearly, it wasn't hard to guess who it was. Mike picked up the phone and dialed Gus, informing him that Jimmy was tailing them. Gus thought for a moment and instructed Mike to slow down, veer into the wilderness beside, and soon they stopped at a desolate spot.

Jimmy parked the car behind them, got out, and walked over. Gus and his team had already exited; Mike and Jesse stood behind Gus, waiting for Jimmy.
