Chapter 1511 811: Hank's Decision (Part 2)
The location of that chicken farm is really advantageous; there's no way for Jimmy to approach and observe during the day. Using a drone for high-altitude remote observation is still reliable. The only issue is that both the DEA and the FBI have strict management of such surveillance equipment.
In the afternoon, Jimmy brought the surveillance team's van to the vicinity of the chicken farm. After confirming the location, he launched the drone from a spot about two kilometers away.
Everyone went into the van, staring at the images from the drone. Soon, the chicken farm appeared in the drone's camera view.
"Hold on, don't get closer."
Jimmy immediately shouted, and the technician stopped the operation, leaving the drone hovering in the air.
"FK!" Although the drone image wasn't very clear, it was obvious that two people were lying on the ground, with a truck parked nearby and several others hiding around. However, the resolution was insufficient, so details were unclear for now.
What's going on here?
"Rotate the camera angle, look towards the direction they're evading."
The technician adjusted, and finally, they saw a dust cloud in the distance, with a motorcycle speeding across the desert, soon disappearing from sight, leaving only the dust gradually dispersing.
Given the scene, it was clear that the departing motorcycle was likely the cause of these people hiding. Were they shot by a sniper from afar? That's not a good sign; someone daring to shoot at drug dealers is definitely no ordinary person.
Jimmy looked at the technician, "Is our drone noisy? Will it be discovered if we get closer?"
The technician nodded, "We can get a bit closer, but not too close."
Jimmy: "OK, proceed."
The image gradually became clearer. The people hiding around started approaching the two on the ground, lifting them directly into the truck while cleaning the truck's body.
"Did you record all of it?"
"It's recorded, but the clarity is insufficient, and the signal isn't great. If we want to get closer, we'll need to move a bit in that direction as well."
Jimmy assessed the situation, ordered the surveillance van to start, and moved a bit closer to the chicken farm to ensure signal strength. Just as they began moving, the chicken farm's truck also started. Jimmy quickly instructed the technician to retrieve the drone and save the surveillance footage, then urged them to follow him as soon as the retrieval was complete.
He left the surveillance van, ran to his car in the distance, and before he got in, saw the Fried Chicken Brothers' van speeding down the highway past their position.
Dammit, too much time was wasted during the previous handover. Jimmy sped up onto the highway, gave chase, and soon caught sight of the truck with the distinctive Fried Chicken Brothers logo ahead.
After following them to the back of a fried chicken shop, they unloaded several buckets of batter from the truck and delivered them inside. Then, the truck restarted and left. Jimmy, furrowing his brow, watched the truck, thinking he might have been wrong earlier?
He thought they would quickly deal with the two bodies in the truck, but now it seemed they prioritized their delivery route to avoid arousing others' suspicion.
After visiting two stores, the truck turned towards the suburbs, driving straight into a laundry facility.
Jimmy stopped from a distance, got out, met up with the trailing surveillance van, and ordered them to launch the drone to check out the situation inside the laundry facility. He advanced his car slowly and soon discovered signs; several people pushing carts had reached the underground lab. Apparently, they planned to process the bodies here.
Although Jimmy wasn't a chemistry expert, he knew many strong acids could directly dissolve bodies. Given that the other party could establish such a large lab, it wouldn't be difficult to do something like that as well.
Jimmy drove away from the laundry facility, called the surveillance team to continue monitoring it, knowing that video evidence could make many things easier if obtained later.
He could see the situation inside the lab that others couldn't. However, the surveillance team's recordings could all be used as evidence, meaning if they were lucky enough to capture something crucial, they could directly apply for a warrant or arrest suspects. So, Jimmy felt his presence there wasn't crucial anymore.
A day had passed since Jimmy discussed the matter concerning Walter with Hank. Jimmy finally received Hank's call, inviting him over to his house that evening. It seemed Hank had come to a decision.
However, when Jimmy arrived at Hank's place that evening, he found out others were invited too, including Walter's family. From their cheerful chats, it was clear Hank hadn't shared their suspicions about Walter.
Hank greeted him, and Jimmy joined, greeting everyone before sitting on a single sofa in the living room.
Whether by illusion or not, Jimmy felt Hank purposely brought up many topics about him, even initiating topics for Jimmy to introduce some cases he'd handled before. Especially when he mentioned Jimmy's nickname, "The Butcher," exaggerating that Jimmy had taken down dozens of criminals and was a famous detective in New York.
About these things, Jimmy didn't deny but didn't overly exaggerate either. Since it was casual talk, letting them know some cases the FBI handled wasn't an issue. The FBI wasn't like the CIA, which required confidentiality. Many things about the FBI were widely circulated, especially with its frequent appearance in movies and TV shows. Both Mary, Skye, and even Walter and his son, Junior Walter, were interested, actively asking about situations depicted in TV shows and whether they were real.
Topics about Jimmy dominated a large part of the conversation until Mary invited everyone to the dining table. Everyone sat around a long dining table, continuing the earlier topics while eating.
After dinner, Hank called Walter and Jimmy, and the three went into his bedroom. "Walter, I have something interesting for you to see, right there on the table."
Hank gestured for Walter to look for himself. He sat in a wheelchair watching Walter, who sat on the bed, pick up the materials and photos from the bedside table. Upon seeing the first photo, Walter's body stiffened with tension. It was a picture of his car driving into the laundry facility. That dark green SUV was too conspicuous; he hadn't seen another of the same model and color.
He didn't dare to look back; his back gradually became cold as Jimmy and Hank kept staring at him.
"What's this?" Walter tried to appear calm, flipping through the photos Jimmy had taken one by one.
Hank: "Don't you have anything to say?"
Walter turned to look at Hank, crossing his hands with his elbows resting on the wheelchair's arms, looking at Walter expressionlessly. Walter, slightly nervous, said, "This is my car; were you tailing me?"
Hank: "Why did you go to the laundry facility? What's there?"
Walter: "Just delivering clothes that needed washing. Our car wash handles a lot of dirty clothes daily that need to be sent there for cleaning. It's just work."
Hank kept watching Walter talk nonsense until after a while, he said, "It's just the three of us here. I just want the truth. I think you must be quite familiar with Jimmy now. Don't force me to hand you over to him."
Jimmy realized why Hank had diverted the conversation to him earlier. Clearly, it was to add weight to the current situation, leveraging himself to threaten Walter. Hank didn't want to give up on Walter directly; otherwise, he would've had Jimmy take him away earlier.
Jimmy sighed, undoing his suit buttons and revealing his FBI badge and gun on his belt. "Walter, those photos were taken by me. I think you should consider why Hank showed you the photos."
