Chapter 1503 - 807: Salamanca (Part 2)

Chapter 1503 - 807: Salamanca (Part 2)

Hank moved the wheelchair, took a disc from a bag, and placed it in the player. Soon, a video of a man singing appeared on the TV. Jimmy glanced at it; the man on the TV was Gale, the victim of that murder case. His singing was decent, but the low-quality green screen video and the lyrics in an unknown language made it amusing.

However, only three people laughed at the scene. Jimmy turned his head to look; Walter was watching the TV expressionlessly. Was his sense of humor so high? Didn't he find it funny at all?

Walter: "Hank, what's this?"

Hank: "Oh, something found in a previous case. This guy was the owner of the notebook I asked you about last time. Jimmy, I told you about it. Walter is a chemistry genius. He's the one who told me about the chemical formulas in that notebook."

Jimmy: "Well done, Walter. You helped identify a highly skilled drug maker."

Walter waved his hand, "It was just a small effort."

Hank took the disc back and returned it to the bag, "It's truly a pity for such a highly educated genius. If he'd focused on the right path, he might've created many good things."

He took out a copy of the notebook, looked at the inscription, and said: "To W.W. My star, my idol. What a pity."

Jimmy had seen these materials several times and didn't care. After Hank sighed, he said to Jimmy: "If it weren't for Walter, I wouldn't have been able to pin down Gale. He was a very sensitive person. He even wrote Walter Whitman's poems and portraits. His idol. If not for the drugs, he might have become a writer."

Hank put the copy of the notebook back in the bag and patted Walter: "Thanks."

Walter just nodded without saying anything.

Hank clapped his hands, "Alright, let's stop talking about this. Let's go back to the living room."

After chatting for a while, Walter's family said goodbye, and Jimmy also left Hank's house.

Walter's family is really unlucky. While chatting tonight, Jimmy learned a bit from Hank. Walter's eldest son has mild cerebral palsy, and his youngest daughter was just born recently. Yet, the head of the family, Walter, was diagnosed with lung cancer. Even if it's controlled now, his life expectancy doesn't seem long. He also lost his job as a school teacher. His family isn't particularly wealthy, and he doesn't know how his family will continue living.

Jimmy pondered as he returned to the hotel. The hotel parking lot was blocked due to a gunfight. Some cars couldn't be parked and had to be left in the ground parking lot. For safety, Jimmy chose a spot directly facing surveillance. Luckily, he switched cars. As long as there was no insider leak, others wouldn't know this car was his.

-----------------

Jimmy's investigation continued. Jesse reappeared after disappearing for two days. This time, he took a taxi straight home, chased out the disarray of people in the house, and stayed inside without going out.

The surveillance team also returned there. Jimmy was just waiting for their notification. Once Jesse made contact with anyone else, they would inform Jimmy immediately. This time, there wouldn't be any previous incidents.

Jimmy waited outside lawyer Sol Goodman's office in his car, watching the lawyer from afar. There was a long line outside his office. Through the occasionally opened door, a chubby female receptionist was in the reception room, while Sol was inside his office seeing his clients.

These clients didn't seem too friendly. Most looked like street thugs. Indeed, this was a vulture lawyer serving these underworld figures.

"Agent Yang, we've got some news. Hurry back to the office."

Without any lead yet, Jimmy received a call from the DEA office. Glancing at Sol's office, he started the car to return, "What did you find?"

The agent handed a photo to Jimmy, "Look at what we found, these two individuals."

Taking the photo, Jimmy saw three people. In the middle was an old man in a wheelchair, with two bald men behind who looked very familiar. The photo was clearly taken secretly from a great distance, but it was clear the two were the assassins who attacked Hank.

Jimmy looked up to the agent: "Have you notified Hank?"

The agent nodded: "Yes, he's on his way."

Jimmy waved the photo: "How did you get this photo?"

Agent: "This morning, we raided a drug den and found a secret room with some developed photos. This is one of them."

Jimmy: "Make a copy for me. Also, are there any other photos connected to them?"

Agent: "There are a few more taken from afar, no frontal shots, only this one is the clearest."

Jimmy nodded: "Wait for Hank to arrive, and we'll discuss it together."

Hank soon arrived, with Mary pushing his wheelchair into the office, where he was arranged to rest in a side room. Hank wheeled himself to the meeting room, and Jimmy directly handed the photo to him, "Is it them?"

Hank looked at the photo, gritting his teeth and nodding: "Yes, it's them. Finally found them. The person in the middle looks very familiar..."

The previous agent handed Hank a file: "Hector Salamanca, suffered a stroke due to untimely treatment of a heart condition, now residing at Tranquil Home nursing home without any family."

Hank: "No family? Then who's paying for his nursing home fees? Keep investigating. I want to know all his information."

The agent nodded: "Okay, I'll get on it right away."

Jimmy smiled, patting Hank: "Alright, don't get too excited. At least we have a lead now, right?"

Hank took a deep breath and nodded: "This photo seems from a few years ago, judging from how young he looks. I need to chat with that drug dealer. Jimmy, wait here."

The agent nodded, came over, and pushed Hank out.

It's normal for Hank not to let Jimmy join the investigation since the person was caught during a DEA raid on a drug den. It was a drug case, and although the findings were related to Jimmy's investigation of the attack, the case still primarily belonged to the DEA. Jimmy shouldn't intervene before their investigation was complete.

As a victim, Hank personally participating in the interrogation could surely uncover relevant information, even if the means weren't quite proper. This was certain.

A few hours later, Jimmy and Hank gathered again in the meeting room, with Gomez being brought in.

The agent responsible for the investigation turned on the meeting room's display, connected his laptop, "These are the findings. This old man is Hector Salamanca, who had a heart attack a few years ago, leading to a stroke. After being saved, he became paralyzed and is now residing at Tranquil Home nursing home.

His recent relative was Toku Salamanca, who was shot dead by Hank a few months ago for attacking him. Previously, he had been arrested for assaulting the elderly. During custody, he got into fights with other inmates, extending his sentence. He was a local drug dealer and the leader of a small gang. From the current leads, they're connected to the Mexican drug lords, but the evidence isn't clear.

These two are from the Salamanca Family, with names currently unknown. They have connections to Hector Salamanca, but for detailed information, talking to Hector might be necessary. However, he's already had a stroke, so getting results is unlikely."

Hank's face was very grim. With the current leads, it's very likely they ambushed Hank because Hank killed Toku. This also broadly proved that the Salamanca family was surely connected to the Mexican drug cartel.
