Chapter 1468 - 790: Unexpected Incident

After the baptism was over and the others had left, Jimmy deliberately stayed behind for a while to chat with Father Rodney. The cross necklace he had given was definitely useful, but Jimmy needed to clarify some things. Knowing his child was still young, it was impossible for him to wear the necklace. Thankfully, this item had undergone their purification baptism, and it had protective runes on it, which could provide the little one with some ability to resist evil; there was no hurry to have him wear it.

This was good as well; little Liam, just over a month old, had obtained his first piece of magical equipment, which meant he was already starting ahead.

When Jimmy left the church and took Nia and Liam back home, it wasn't long before Roland showed up.

In the basement, Roland looked at Jimmy seriously and asked, "Is that church priest someone you know?"

Jimmy nodded, "We've known each other for a long time. In previous exorcism operations, we've collaborated. Why?"

Roland replied, "I felt something strange at the church earlier. He seemed somewhat ill-intentioned towards little Liam, continually watching him."

Jimmy frowned, "Are you sure? Was it malevolent?"

Roland: "I'm not sure, it just felt off to me. Tell me, who exactly is he?"

Jimmy: "Father Rodney is my previous church contact."

Jimmy did not hide anything from Roland. After all, when dealing with supernatural cases, Roland was the professional. He had spent a lifetime fighting those chaotic monsters, surely possessing some special abilities to sense things that Jimmy might have missed due to familiarity.

Jimmy explained his suspicion to Roland, pointing out that the church was likely interested in the characteristics enabling him to accept Holy Light Energy, possibly believing his child might inherit the same traits.

A child who can accept Holy Light Energy, nurtured by the church over many years, could achieve many things. To Father White and others, that represented hope.

Roland glanced at the ceiling of the basement and sighed, "The Black Rainbow you used up shouldn't be inheritable, but your Flash Spirit ability might be. People like you are very rare in our world. In a gathering point, you'd be regarded as an important consultant, known as a Spiritualist."

Jimmy: "Is there someone like that at every gathering point in your area?"

Roland shook his head, "Not possible. While many might display Flash Spirit abilities, only those with great powers become Spiritualists. Most people's abilities wouldn't suffice even if they had them."

Jimmy exhaled a long breath, "In that case, if Liam doesn't even have Flash Spirit ability when he grows up, the church will naturally give up on him, and he can live a normal life."

Roland: "Yes, Flash Spirit abilities usually appear in children before they mature. If they reach adulthood without special abilities, they likely don't have Flash Spirit abilities."

Jimmy: "So, your observation of Father Rodney always watching Liam is probably because they are closely observing him, not to harm him. I believe it's fine."

Roland nodded, "By the way, I plan to head back in a while. But it would be best to bring a generator back; the generator at my place is an ancient relic. If it breaks, I can't fix it. And we should see if we can start it directly here. If possible, it would be more convenient in the future."

Jimmy: "I'll bring you some cash; handle it yourself."

Roland: "It's now possible to travel back and forth normally, Jimmy, I think..."

Jimmy immediately interrupted, "No, Liam is still too young. I can't leave him; he needs me."

Roland: "It won't take long. I'll arrange for a mage to check beforehand."

Jimmy: "Roland, now's not the time. Give me some time..."

Roland sighed, nodding, "I understand. You go ahead, I'll tidy up here."

Jimmy patted Roland's arm, "Thanks." He then turned and walked up the stairs.

Roland watched Jimmy leave the basement and sat directly on a nearby box.

Jimmy's firm attitude was something Roland did not want to see, yet he couldn't fault Jimmy because his reasons were indeed strong, for little Liam. This left Roland without even the grounds to continue persuading him.

The Dark Tower World wasn't safe. To Roland, the threat might not be significant, but for Jimmy or others, living long-term in the Dark Tower World would be a huge challenge; one could easily end up resting there forever.

Jimmy's unwillingness to go to the Dark Tower World directly impacted his previous suspicions that couldn't be verified. However, regardless, he himself still needed to go back for a period. Having used a Merlin's Rainbow before, leaving for too long could affect the world's energy balance; it's perhaps faster to let the mages verify on himself first.

However, finding a mage in this world to help with verification was still challenging. They weren't fixed in one place, requiring quite a bit of luck.
