Chapter 1466 789: Baptism

Jimmy had long anticipated Nia's anger, especially since it involved their child. Nonetheless, he'd been preparing himself mentally for a while. He understood all too well that society, aside from the hidden forces of the Church, was inherently unsafe with its array of supernatural cases.

Others might not fully grasp it, lacking much personal experience, but Jimmy had already faced several dangers. From his collaborations with the Church, it was clear their exorcist priests were exemplary, having accomplished much without fanfare. They undoubtedly shunned fame and fortune; otherwise, their abilities would have propelled them to celebrity status.

No matter what Liam chose as a career in the future, maintaining good relations with the Church members would be beneficial. Furthermore, Jimmy's special abilities partly originated from himself and partly from the Black Rainbow. Whether these traits would be inherited by little Liam remained unknown.

The little one might not exhibit any extraordinary talents until he reaches adulthood. This implies that for the Church to ascertain Liam's gifts, it would take several years, ensuring their attention throughout his entire adolescence. This would guarantee considerable safety, both physically and mentally.

Of course, if luck favored them and the child showcased special talents early on, the Church would undoubtedly allocate more resources for his development. His growth in talent and ability would certainly surpass Jimmy's self-taught skills.

Faith is widespread in United States society, so only adults like Jimmy, who have been ingrained with atheism, would notably resent such matters. However, his life over the past few years in this world made many things clear to him, so his rejection of the concept was not particularly intense.

Pacifying Nia was challenging, especially amid her anger. Jimmy repeatedly emphasized his reasons and brought up the time when the Church had assisted them during Nia's incident. Eventually, he managed to resolve the crisis temporarily.

Nia was not irrational; it's just that, for a newly made mother, someone plotting against her child was absolutely sufficient to trigger her anger. Fortunately, Jimmy's reasons were somewhat reasonable, and he promised to do his utmost to limit the Church's actions, which allowed her to cool off temporarily.

Taking care of a child is no easy task. Unlike Jimmy, Nia lacked sufficient energy, so they took turns resting, even napping during the day. But Jimmy was less troubled, as his overall sleep duration was short anyway—just three to four hours a day sufficed for his energy. Yet, caring for a child was tiring, demanding immense patience. Even Jimmy, with his temper, found it vanished when faced with the child's antics.

However, it was not all troublesome. Not long after little Liam was born, two elders arrived in New York from the South. James and Tom were the ones Jimmy informed immediately by phone. Despite rarely visiting New York, Jimmy maintained regular phone contact, exchanging pleasantries routinely. Naturally, when it came to such a significant event like childbirth, notifying them promptly was a given.

As for little Liam, James was rather composed, whereas Tom was more emotional. Tom had been alone for years since scums killed his family members. Taking years to avenge them, he now embraced Jimmy's offspring as his own grandson.

Nonetheless, little Liam was too young to meet others. Although James and Tom disinfected their hands in the restroom, they only lightly touched Liam without picking him up.

Until the child completed the first round of vaccinations, only Jimmy, Nia, and the live-in nanny had contact with Liam. Everyone else, especially frequent travelers like Kevin, remained outside Liam's contact range, much to Kevin's frustration as a grandfather.

Aside from these individuals, Jimmy also prevented Roland from reaching out.

Roland hailed from another world. Even with Jimmy's limited biological knowledge, he understood the vast differences between interdimensional species. Apart from potential parasites or other organisms, bacteria and viruses warranted vigilance. Consequently, Roland was excluded. Though displeased, Jimmy managed to persuade him with logic.

Within a month or two, Roland successfully traversed back and forth from the Dark Tower. Uncertain of the portal's lasting duration or potential errors in landing, he brought barrels of gasoline and diesel to test on the power generator near the portal ruins.

Jimmy and Roland's discussions proved worthwhile, as fuel depletion in the Dark Tower World prevented the portal activation. Even with Roland inputting the opposite portal's code, the landing was off, yet remained within a few kilometers radius of the ruins. It was fortunate enough, sparing Roland from frequent trips lugging fuel.
