Roland didn't wait for long; after a few hours, he heard faint noises coming from inside the house. Considering the secret door was originally in the storage room, the fact that he could still hear faint noises after multiple barriers was a testament to his exceptional hearing.
However, he wasn't sure exactly who was inside the house, so he didn't knock immediately but waited a little longer.
After a while, when he was certain there was only one person in the house, he took out his revolver and knocked on the secret door above with the gun handle, creating some noise.
Nia was already heavily pregnant and could not move comfortably, but she hadn't confined herself completely indoors. Next to her was a park and a church, and even if just to keep her mind and body happy, she would go out and stroll during the day. Earlier, to ensure the basement's safety, Jimmy had specially placed a large box on top of the secret door. Of course, it spanned both sides of the secret door; the pressure was mainly borne by both sides, serving as a cover and also blocking the secret door from being opened from inside, which was why Roland couldn't push it open.
Nia confirmed the sound was coming from the basement, someone was knocking on the secret door. She didn't move the box to open the door but stepped back two steps to the outside of the storage room, took out her phone, and dialed Jimmy's number: "Jimmy, are you convenient to talk?"
"No problem, go ahead."
"It seems someone is knocking on the basement door, just now."
Jimmy paused for a moment, "You said the basement? Hold on, absolutely don't open the door, leave the house now, I'll be back immediately."
Nia: "Okay, I'll go to the church and wait for you."
Nia had previously checked the basement with Jimmy, making sure there was absolutely no one or any other living thing inside. Nia frowned and asked, "Why contact him? Shouldn't we call a few police officers first?"
Jimmy shook his head, "No, if accidents really occur, ordinary people won't handle it. This is just a backup plan, if I can't handle it, others probably can't either. Listen to me, stay away, wait for my notice."
Jimmy took Nia's phone and put it in his pocket, lightly patting Nia, then left the church and headed towards his house.
