Chapter 1435 774: Roland
Chapter 1435 774: Roland
Dark Tower World, after Roland communicated with that Mage, he began to suspect whether the Black Rainbow he brought to Jimmy was one of the reasons causing the energy imbalance in the Dark Tower World.
However, returning to Earth isn't very easy. The door he previously used to return from New York to the Dark Tower was the one he used when fighting with the man in black, but it is very far from his hometown's location. When he left his hometown to wander around this time, he had no plans to return to Earth, so now he can't confirm exactly where the original door is.
In fact, the entire Dark Tower World had already entered a period of decline years ago. Many places have been abandoned, and there are no GPS coordinates or maps similar to Earth's. Compared to familiar surroundings, it's much harder to precisely locate other places.
This has created a very troublesome situation now. When he learned from the Mage why disasters frequently happen, he couldn't find the route back to Earth anymore, unless he retraces the route he once took in reverse.
After much consideration, Roland decided to return to find Jimmy. The Dark Tower World is his hometown, and even if there's only a slim chance, he still hopes this world can be a bit safer. Even if the world is heading towards an end, it's much better than doing nothing.
A world heading towards decline will inevitably have various problems. Aside from the physical disasters, what's more severe are the demons or resentful spirits appearing unpredictably in various unexpected locations, as well as things accidentally crossing over from other worlds. Roland had already eliminated countless of them along the way.
Advancing based on his impression of the return route, it is, in fact, impossible to take the exact same path. Sometimes Roland would recognize the wrong route, and there would be issues when he went back after realizing his mistake. Strictly speaking, now Roland is still wandering more than before. The only good thing is that he now has a goal. Whether it's the previous door or any other door, he still hopes to find Jimmy and bring him back for a visit.
Roland was able to reach Earth this time purely by accident. During his travels, he saw a location that seemed like a rift, where the sky and air would occasionally change into various colors of light, sometimes with vibrant red or black lights.
Standing at a height, he could see there was a gathering point nearby. But when Roland reached the village at the gathering point, he found it completely deserted and discovered several bodies in a few rooms.
This type of scene is something he has seen many times recently. Undoubtedly, there should be something nearby. These bodies were already somewhat decayed, meaning they had been dead for a period.
The biggest advantage of encountering such gathering points is collecting some supplies. After all, he rides a horse and can't carry too many supplies, so he needs to replenish from time to time. Now that this gathering point is abandoned, it's the perfect opportunity to gather a wave of supplies.
Everything was normal initially, but as he reached the well house, he was suddenly attacked. A massive Spider Monster approached the doorway from the roof of the well house, and as Roland entered, it suddenly lunged down, with its long legs almost wrapping around Roland.
During the ambush, Roland immediately bent down and lunged forward, dodging the spider's embrace while pulling out his revolver and shooting back. However, the Spider Monster moved extraordinarily fast. Although Roland's bullets hit it, they didn't kill it directly, only creating a few holes and leaking some green blood.
After avoiding a fatal injury, the Spider Monster didn't leave. Instead, it began moving along the walls and ceilings inside the house, occasionally spraying webs in an attempt to bind Roland, and would also thrust its excessively long spider legs at him.
Roland didn't stay in one place. He moved around to avoid the spider's thrusts while firing back. Although the spider was swift at dodging, it couldn't completely avoid Roland's bullets, yet it wasn't hit in a fatal spot, still capable of counter-attacking Roland.
After a series of unsuccessful attacks, the spider suddenly released itself from the ceiling and landed on the ground. Facing the spider head-on, Roland had even less room to maneuver. After dodging, he quickly reloaded, but during a shooting pause, he was suddenly touched by a web on his leg.
The spider tugged on the web with one of its legs and charged at Roland. As he dodged to the side, the pull from the web made him stagger, forcing him to fall to the ground. Taking advantage of the fall, he rolled under the spider and aimed upward to shoot continuously at its head and eyes. The spider's massive size and structure limited its flexibility. After being shot in the head, it immediately abandoned Roland and charged toward the well in the middle of the house, where instead of climbing downward, it fell straight in.
Roland's leg was still stuck to the web, being dragged towards the well. He reached out with his left hand to grab the edge of the well, holding his gun with his right hand, and fired several shots downward. However, he couldn't withstand the spider's pull and ended up falling into the well.
No splash sound was heard when the spider fell. This well must have been abandoned. As Roland fell, he attempted to slow his descent by bracing against the well's sides, but with no grip, he simply fell to the bottom. Fortunately for him, he had good luck; the shots he fired downward might have been fortunate, as they killed the spider, and when he fell, he landed on the spider, avoiding injury.
